The Rosery Country House Hotel is set in the picturesque village of Exning and is a traditional, family-run hotel offering friendly personal service and good quality restaurant food and fine wines. The hotel, owned by Tony and Colleen Sullivan, is a Victorian manor house, turned into a hotel 30 years ago; its most recent addition is a Victorian-style conservatory. In additio, all rooms have been refurbished, and now all have private bathrooms with TV and coffee making facilities. The conservatory is now a 100-seat restaurant, complemented by a comfortable bar and lounge area, breakfast room and traditional English Country Garden. For the business traveler there are meeting rooms, and the hotel can provide buffet lunches and bar-snacks as required. Situated just 10 minutes from the Newmarket Racecourses, the hotel frequently hosts corporate events, offering the perfect solution to your lodging and dining needs. Firstly it allowed us to have our three year old child with us in a very pleasant room. The staff were lovely and accomodating, understanding the needs of a child! It was extremely close to Newmarket, which was our intention, and not far from any major roads. It was very easy to find, reasonably priced and the food (only having tried the breakfast) was very nice. We would stay there again. The only thing I can think of was the wet room and the noisy slide door between the bedroom and it. Going to the bathroom in the middle of the night was an affair not to wake our three year old, who also didn't like the idea of a shower and no bath.

Ambiance and decor were pleasing, as was the family room itself. The staff had kindly padded out the travel cot for our baby. The majority of the staff were pleasant and helpful. During breakfast the waitress seemed rather stressed when my 3 year old son asked for more toast as he didn't want a cooked breakfast - she seemed unaware that the roomrate included breakfast for 3 people and 2 halves of toast do not constitute an adequate breakfast for a child. She evebtually brought him some burnt toast after we had eaten our cooked breakfast. For this reason we probably wouldn't use the hotel again which is a pity as the rest of the staff were very good.

Hotel is situated in a small village close to Cambridge. If you want to visit Cambridge and have a car, it is good to stay here. Buses are rare and the last trip from Cambridge is too early in the evening. The place is very quite. The hotel is situated in an old house with a nice spatious garden, authentic atmosphere, good traditional restaurant and free WiFi. Parking is no problem. Personel is friendly. Beds are comfortable. We had two problems. Hot water worked only with a noisy pump and it was not enough hot water for all four of us to take a shower. In the second day the pump seemed to break and there was no hot water at all. But we were already leaving, so we didn't really care. The second problem was that we were quite late at night back in the hotel and there was nobody there and doors seemed to be closed. Make sure you have a key from the front door or you arranged with the personnel that they are present or keep the door open for you.

Relaxed atmosphere. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough to help. They made the trip. The gardens are very pretty and I loved staying in one of the Garden Rooms. My only criticism was that the shower tray was quite mouldy and the air vent very dusty. Generally the room could have done with a bit more of a hoover.

We liked the location as it as it was quite close to family and freinds who lived close by. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were freindly and helpfull. The food and service were excellent and other family members who stayed there all made the same comments. One to keep on our list of places to stay.

Very attentive staff, there was a large retirement party during the evening but the staff were helpful in providing us with a separate dining area and yet still managed to give us very good service with excellent food.

We chose the hotel for it's location mainly, but when we arrived found that it was not only well located but very good for the disabled traveller, having special accomodation. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There was a very good menu in the dining room, and food was very good. We recommend it for short stays in this area.

Room was very nice, the staff was friendly. The location is a very beautiful garden, it is really relaxing sit there. The bathroom is unusually large - many could even like that - with a shower without curtains. There is a strange mechanism for hot water in the shower, the first time water was very hot, and it was almost impossible to get cold water. The staff was friendly enough to fix it, though.

On my arrival at the Hotel I was a little concerned as the outside didnt look like the picture on the booking site however I was pleasantly surprised by the gardens and the hotel ambience. I was designated a garden room for my stay which was lovely although I have to say the layout of the furniture was abit odd as you couldnt sit on the sofa and watch the television as it was positioned on the wall above your head! The hotel staff were all very friendly and the food was excellent - will certainly be recommending this to friends and colleagues - who are now thinking of having their Christmas lunch here! Excellent value for Money. A blind in the bathroom would be nice!!
