On the edge of historic Chester, the Holiday Inn Chester South is just off of the A55 road, near Chester Business Park.
Score from 608 reviews Very good
With a modern fitness center and stylish Michael Caines restaurant, the Abode Chester has a 5th-floor champagne bar with views out over historic Chester. The Chester Racetrack is just a few feet away....

Location as it met our needs Breakfast
Wifi didn't work second day. Room, had to be moved as first room not good. Temperature, room was incredibly hot. Outside security light was on all night making room very bright.
Just what I was looking for. Clean, comfortable spacious accommodation. Reception staff attentive and friendly. I would recommend.
kids loved it. Staff very helpful
nothing all good
Needed to keep the window open to relieve the oppressive room temperature to a bearable level. Reported to staff on checkout who assured this issue would be investigated. The room was otherwise excellent, with a comfortable big bed
Very friendly and accommodating staff. My room was comfortable with large double windows. Breakfast was excellent.
Some of the furnishings appeared a little dated in my room.
Excellent location for what we needed. Staff very friendly.
Walls were paper thin which isn't conducive to a good night sleep. Heated towel rail, while a nice feature is poorly positioned so you can easily burn yourself. Dirty towel in the wardrobe. TV remote didn't work but not a major issue as we didn't spend much time in the room.
Area location good. Parking good. Plenty of tea coffee
Noise from radiator evening and early morning. Noise from corridor early morning double doors banging. TV not tuned right and half of Picture missing. Bathroom shady and worn out. Shower was a trickle. Dirty carpet outside bathroom (brown stains) floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned. For £70 expected better.
The welcome and hospitality of the staff. We are in a similar business and this is what we look for. My daughter's wedding reception was held in Rossett Hall 21 years ago and the welcome, and food, was great. We hope to return very soon - not after 21 years.
Friendly staff, comfy bed and excellent food at Oscars
Location and the village is lovely. The local pubs are great for food, the alyn is a must visit! Very comfortable room and good breakfast at good value
Rooms could have done with a lick of paint, marks on the walls and paint peeling in the corners (nothing that would stop me recommending the hotel to anyone else) Oscars restaurant evening meals wasn't a great choice and a bit too pricey
Self service breakfast. Adjustable heating controls
Iron, tv, toilet, car park
The way to my room is confusing.
Nice & quiet, restaurant staff pleasant with decent service.
Poor telephone, wifi service.bathroom a bit dated.bedding old fashioned. Facilities in & around the hotel severely lacking. Expensive for what you get given the area.
Cleanliness was exceptional, and the rooms were extremely comfortable. Staff were very friendly and food was very good. Also had a fridge in the room which was a big bonus, as I travel with medication which needs to be kept cool. All in all, loved our stay here.
The bar closed very early, half 8 on sunday night, and half 9 other nights. It was the only downside to this hotel.
very nice hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. room was clean and en suite bathroom was very spacious. lots of extras in the room that made the stay more comfortable--iron hair dryer etc. breakfast was served in the restraunt /bar area ---lots of choice to meet everyones tastes. excellent value, and i will be booking again
the hotel had lots of corridors it was not easy to find your way around and found myself going in circles.
Food quality and service in restaurant was excellent
Killing wood lice in the bedroom. Bathroom smelled but this was dealt with. Broken reading lamp. Had to sake twice for this to be dealt with.
Friendly staff, good WiFi, nice atmosphere in the restaurant
Picture on your site showed a lovely modern big bed. We had old fashioned room with tired furnishings and very tired en-suite. Really don't think the picture represented the hotel fairly. Many stairs - not good for elderly parents
Bar staff and friendly staff generally
Another review said it was tired, so booking an executive room I thought this might be a bit better, but not really. Needs a proper bleach in the bathroom, a new shower rail. Attention to the carpets and some decoration.
Quality of food Location Friendly staff
Poor WIFI connection The sound of people next door The sound of a party in a room until 2am
Friendly receptionist and room service was fast Village was great and the golden lion pub fantastic and friendly saved our break
Room was dusty and curtain linings had mould on them duvet had seen better days as filling had collected around the edge and nothing in the middle so not really a good stay
The original hall as a building. Bedroom was warm but very tired looking.
Unfriendliness of staff. Lumpy bed. Could not sleep. Bathroom with chipped tiles. Bedroom not clean. Some lights did not work. Absence of TV instructions.
Bar staff were very good
Breakfast staff were not very helpfull
It was a little dated
Location of hotel is fine, room good size, decor neutral,
Breakfast poor, and staff not up to the job of serving people also rude, heating turned of at night came back on at 6 am which wakes you every morning, bed to soft this is the only time in my life I could not wait to get back home, booked this hotel for 4 nights on the last night the hotel had a wedding party, the noise kept us awake a good part of the night, we were not told of this party when we booked or signed into hotel if we had of known we would of found another hotel, they did how ever give a small refund for inconvenience and I mean small.
I loved the building itself and the atmosphere of the hotel. The hotel is great if you prefer old rustic charm and a country house atmosphere on a budget. Large room and bed. Nice un fussy decor.
Brown granular substance in bottom of kettle. Quilt was lumpy and thin. Breakfast had overcooked black pudding and undercooked sausages. Room was very cold with little control over heating.
