Darren and Deb were great hosts, very helpful, and serve a delicious breakfast. the location to town was easy walking distance with plenty of places to eat out. Plus they provided parking which is scarce in Ambleside . Enjoyed the whole experience.
Location and it has a car park
Size of toilet
Easy walk to the lake, shops and restaurants, Very pretty town and helpful hosts, lovely breakfasts, and very clean.
Bathroom very tiny, and people above us were very loud
Pretty much everything
Lovely people, very accommodating & would definitely stay again.
Location was excellent. Only a short walk into Ambleside. The room facilities were good and the breakfast served in the morning was very good.
The room was small leaving little space to store luggage. We did not take all our luggage into the room but if we did then it would have been very cramped.
Close proximity to centre of Ambleside - good selection of eating places to choose from. Very friendly & helpful proprietors who are both ex-chefs, therefore excellent breakfasts were served to individual requests. Twin-bedded room was very clean & comfortable. Excellent en-suite facilities, which were spotlessly clean. Ample car parking at rear of property.
Great location a couple of minutes walk to Ambleside centre. Wonderful breakfast with great choice even for fussy vegetarians like me. Friendly, helpful owners. Will stay here again.
Excellent location only a 2 min walk into town where there were lots of places to eat and drink.10 min walk to the lake where we enjoyed a drink in the sun overlooking the lake. Comfy bed excellent breakfast what was there not to like.
Great Little place for a great price
Really well situated, not far from the ferry in Ambleside at all. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and a very good vegetarian breakfast (amazing veggie sausages!)
Shower was a little unreliable.

This was our 25th anniversary weekend! We were welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine and had a lovely stay at Rothay House. Darren and Debbie were very good host and hostess the rooms were clean and the food was very good too, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The bathroom in room3 is on the small side.
The personal touch from the owners and the location of the guest house our 2nd stay will certainly stay again
The owners were friendly & available if you needed anything. Breakfast was great- local produce and plenty of choice
Perfect location for walking to restaurants and shops. On the door step walks. Car parking. Comfortable and cosy rooms. Comprehensive breakfast menu.
Darren and his wife really made the effort to make us feel comfortable and at home. It was never a problem for them to assist us, we were asked throughout out stay if we were alright. We've stayed at other guest house and we can honestly say that this has been the best. It's very clean, the breakfast options are great! Parking was always available. Other guest seems very happy as well.
We could not connect to wifi. We didn't have DVD player in our rm advertised on their website, we carried a couple of Dvd's with us for the evenings(our children's rm had one).

we enjoyed the 3 days there at Rothay House. The hosts are very kind and thoughtful. We got a nice room, clean and tidy, though facing the street, but it's rather quiet to my surprise. We had the best breakfast, one day with haddock and kippers, both of which are really nice. Many thanks!!
Great breakfast and lovely staff.
A warm welcome from our (early - nobody batted an eyelid) arrival until departure. The pristine rooms are compact and have everything you could need - including a wonderfully comfy bed and squeaky clean bathroom. The breakfast was super - we went for the full English and had to opt for coffee only when we met friends for lunch as we were still full! The hosts were lovely too - nothing was too much trouble. Try the flapjack too, if you can - we bought a piece each for the journey home and it was just perfect.
Welcoming staff Great breakfast Comfortable room
