Rothay Garden Hotel & Riverside Spa  

The meal we had in the restaurant in the evening was the best we have ever had. It was presented very well and we it was extremely good. The spa was very nice. I have recommended this hotel to work colleagues and friends.

The reception staff were not in my opinion very professional and who I asume was the manager hovering around the desk as we checked out didn't make any conversation and I felt this was bad mannered. Also the room was so hot in the night it was almost unbearable.

Absolutely everything, this is without doubt the nicest frendliest hotel i have stayed in, and i have stayed in a lot. !!!!!!!!!!!!

a beautiful location with a really nice dining room and menu. On the first ( of two) nights we were quite late back from a walk and knew that last call for dinner was 9.30 pm so only had half an hour to shower etc.The head waiter reassured us and asked if we'd like a drink brought to our rooms while we got ready, he brought them up himself ! Room service was always like graese lightening !

The most irritating seating policy in the dining room.Some of the tables were next to windows with lovely views and on sunny mornings we'd have liked to sit there.However, even though we were first in the dining room we were told we couldn't have a window seat as they had been allocated to people who dined in them the night before ! We had dined in the restauarent the night before but not at a window seat.This happened two mornings running and spoilt the Hotel's good reputation in our minds.

We liked the location and the spa.

We found the bar prices very expensive and we were disappointed with the breakfast. The fell walkers breakfast was very dry and the vegetarian breakfast included scrambled egg which was very sloppy. We would have expected better from a four star . 2 rosette restaurant.

The room was very nice , big kingsize bed ,brand new bathroom. The Spa although not very big was very nice and relaxing after a day walking in the fells. The restaurant, athough I believe it to be good was too expensive for us so we ate at a nearby Bistro which was very good and half the price.

Nothing to complain about , very nice hotel , we will be back !

The hotel provided an excellent base for our Wedding Anniversary celebration. It was just an overnight stay but we were made welcome and enjoyed the facilities of a very pleasant hotel with excellent food both the evening meal and the the breakfast. We wouldn't hesitate in repeating the experience.

The hotel was very impressive. Only stayed overnight - bed and breakfast - but would definitely return for a long weekend break. The bedroom was of a very high standard and the bathroom was immaculate. The breakfast was great and offered a wide variety of food. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

The televison did not work we could only get three or four channels. The central selector box was broken and needed replacing. it should have been done.

Hotel has a nice relaxing atmosphere and is out of the way yet close to the village of Grasmere. The spa facility is excellent, ideal for relaxing after a long walk. The food in the restaurant is superb, especially the breakfasts! Its not a huge place which makes it quite cosy. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Overall a it was a very enjoyable experience and I look forward to a return visit.

The tv channels had extremely poor signal, although this is very minor and did not detract from our overall enjoyment of this wonderful hotel
