The room was wonderful but in part that was because I had 6/7 (both) access to myself. With only a small room on its own - even with an excellent bathroom - I would have found it too small for C21st expectations. On the other hand, the staff(a manager?) was wonderful, including letting me use the breakfast room to do some emails etc. and next morning breakfast was outstanding!! Yes I will be back. It was definitely as described and definitely not a flat pack chain hotel room. It's position in walking distance with heavy wheely baggage, opposite St Pancras (Eurostar etc) was exactly as I hoped. My bedroom on its own would have been small, but I know other rooms are larger and adjacent rooms may be available.

The localization is perfect. 2 minutes walk from KingsX station. Extremely small rooms where only bed can fit, 40 cm free space between wall and the bed. No chair, no place to sit other than the bed. No tv, no desk. Bed was very short: approximately 175cm long. No possible to make tea of coffee in the room. Every time I had to ask for a cup of tea, which did not made me feel comfortable. When I was trying to cancel my reservation because all of the above I had to pay fee (150 gbp) and above that the following reply I received from the hotel: “during check- in you had not expressed that a room with a desk was a necessity”

The owner greeted us with a very warm welcome and attended our every need during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, he went the extra mile to ensure our stay was of top quality. Our room was very confortable, and the en-suite was luxurious with plenty of room and a copper bath. The continental breakfast was lovely, including a good english breakfast tea and freshly made juice. The hotel is right next to st.pancras/kings cross, and the perfect spot to get anywhere in central london. There is only one downfall, the hotel does have a very narrow staircase and no lift. This was not a problem for any of us, however if you have trouble with stairs this is not the place for you.

It was a unique quirky hotel that you will either love or hate. Half rough and half luxury. It took me and my husband a day or so to get used to it. All the staff were very friendly, and had you had any requirements I am sure they would have gone out of their way to help you. Breakfasts were good with plenty to choose from - although style was mainly continental. We chose hotel for its convenience to Kings Cross which was excellent - easy to walk to. We used tube to go everywhere which saved on taxis and was value for money with a day pass.Nice bathroom. There was a few nice eating places close by - the Italian was very good and the local pub - Lucas Arms seemed popular for meals. We expected larger living space and it felt very cramped. From what I've read on the internet this is normal for London hotels though. There was a lack of storage space and drawers so you lived out of your suitcase. Another minus for us was no tea making facilities. It would have been nice to have a brew after a long day sightseeing around London. We made use of the local Starbucks instead. We would consider it slightly overpriced for room.

I liked everything at the Rough Luxe Hotel, the extremely nice staff and the interest they showed in me as a guest, the beautiful rooms, the wonderful breakfast, the nice other guests, the location in front of St Pancras, the books in the lobby, the beautiful booklet of the hotel, the works of art, the beautiful weather......... I am still thinking.

the staff were very helpful pleasant and accommodating , we were able to keep our keys all day after check out to enable us to come and collect our luggage late that night. the rooms were very small, especially the bathroom where we had to go in single file! We felt unpleasantly restricted for space.

I liked the decor of the hotel, the building itself was very unusual and the staff were very friendly. How close it was to Kings Cross station. It was quite noisy and being from London Kings Cross isn't one of the nice parts.

Staff was really nice and helpful; it is a minute away from St Pancras. It is definitely not worth the room rate; rough luxe maybe but there's a lot more rough than luxe really. Tv set did not work; little mobile radiator was needed indeed in otherwise cold room; old narrow and steep staircase leading to small roughly maintained rooms.

This was probably the very worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. Its in a slum of an area, even the taxi driver warned me about it at nights. Its a dump of an old place although it had an unusual twist about it useing old things and fabrics in an unusual way to try and bring off a look. The tv was black and white and was as old as anything that would have come from a garbage heap. . All the reviews were very misleading. It did sem to be run but an arty young man who was very pleasant but this was certainly was not enough. A good attempt at being shabby chic but it just didnt work., Dont stay there.A Very old building with a steep and narrow staircase which I suppose meets with London Fire city regulations but I would not like to be there in a fire. If you are a hippy and 60's left over then this is for you.Otherwise stay away.
