I have stayed here twice and on both ocassions found my stay to be an excellent and enjoyable experience. The staff were very professional, polite and helpful. The food was very good and the breakfast was excellent. Rooms were very warm, clean and decorated tastefully in character with the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will recommend to colleagues within my company.
Nothing to dislike
Building. Location. Staff. Restaurant.
Excellent staff, real change to be welcomed and looked after properly, stay at many hotels on business, but always really enjoy coming back to the Roundabout Hotel.....
Nothing in particular
The hotel situation, accommodation, log fires and warm welcome given to us by the staff, we especially liked the Christmas festive decorations that abounded the public areas at this time of year
There was nothing to dislike with regard to the hotel, except we wish we had booked to stay there longer
Beautiful setting luvly look of hotel, service was very good and evening meals was excellent.
Wifi wasn't as good as we wanted.
Quiet, professional service, location very convenient for flights from Gatwick, open fires, modest dinner menu that delivers surprises, in particular the best pork belly I have ever eaten, and all at exceptionally reasonable prices for the UK.
Heating in bathroom not on - but hotel aware and working on it.
The ambient setting, the history of the building and the staff were very attentive when we were dining.
We were unable to get a signal on our mobiles and were not told of any wifi conection.
Very accessible from London but felt miles from it all. Whole place very cosy with Christmas decorations and open fire. Room with four poster and huge bath frankly amazing at the price. Good, inexpensive restaurant and friendly staff.
Only very minor niggles - would not have minded a later breakfast and check out time on a Sunday morning. And wasn't told when reserving a table that there was a Christmas dinner option to pre book, which we would probably have gone for.
mostly everything !
no outside phone in bedrooms
As local residents, we booked my sister for 1 night stay & ate in hotel that pm. She was allocated room in outhouse. A broken window could not be shut & heating on frost setting. During night several rowdy people in adjacent room banged on connecting door & until gone 2 am & started again at 7. Sister greatly perturbed. Seems odd to put single woman in outhouse then allocate people to adjacent room with door in the first place
Room / internet
Very good besides the faults mentioned
No wi-fi available in bedroom, radiator not working in bathroom - had to leave door open to try and warm it up from the bedroom heater.
Loved the friendly staff, the convenience and quality of the restaurant and bar. Great TV, fabulous shower. Very cozy accommodation.
The mattress seemed quite old (could feel the springs inside - though we still slept well. Also the parking area could be very noisy (in the wee hours)with people, luggage and deliveries being made through the front door (when our window was open) We would have enjoyed a clock in the room (for reference in the middle of the night!)
Atmosphere, bed comfort and food.
Heat in attic rooms and downstairs one near bar.
The staff waiting on table were friendly. However the service was poor. We were told in advance the main meal would be slow in arriving - that was OK. It was needing to wait a long time for simple requests like extra butter, a glass of water, breakfast pot of tea. Staff need more training. Expect higher standard to match the surroundings.
Just about everything, from the location in the W. Sussex countryside to the excellent Dining. The hotel is clean, warm and decorated in what could be described as "somewhat old fashioned but very practical and comfortable" style . . . from the stylish blackout curtains to the heavy but very comfortable furnishings in the rooms. Bathrooms are big and well fitted with fantastic showers over the bath. The bedrooms are spread over a couple of floors and there are some 'special' ones in the Woodlands Annexe (a very easy 4 metre walk from the front door unless you've been enjoying too much in the excellently stocked bar ;-)) Go on, you know you'll like it!! The staff could not be faulted . . . professional, knowledgeable and friendly with strong local knowledge and advice. There is a very tidy breakfast room, with table service, as is the Restaurant. Breakfast menu includes choices of cereals and fruit, full English and Continental and several other 'special' treats like Eggs Benedict . . . tasty! There is an excellent choice of fine dining in the Restaurant, with the menu offering a broad selection without being too 'crowded' (i.e. a respectable half dozen or so dishes . . . not the 'hundreds' seen on some menus ;-(( ). EVERYTHING we had (b'fast & dinner) was prepared and presented to perfection (IMHO). Parking is on-site and relatively secure (open car park), but in a quiet, country area. No worries there. All in all, a lovely hotel for a perfect quiet, relaxing stay. But that said, do check beforehand because the hotel does cater for various functions.
Roundabout has character and individuality with a great personal service. Cheaper and better than the corporate chains in all aspects of my stay! Accommodation, service and food was exceptional. I would happily return again and again.
Just in England for a few days to visit the family (who live five minutes away). The rooms were perfect, very traditional with four-poster beds. The girls thought that they were princesses ! The staff were very friendly and helpful. A great couple of days :) / Noel, Marcus, Michelle and Gabriella
Everything Hotel Staff Food The lot
The weather But that's not down to the hotel
Plenty of space in our room, plenty of storage. lovely clean modern bathroom. Fab cooked full English breakfast with warm toast and plenty of it!
Car park could have done with bring a bit larger. But a very minor point.
Excellent staff Great food Lovely setting
Kids were in the room above parents had little control over theses kids who mad a lot of noise until 1am. You can hear all noise from the bedrooms
The overall ambience, quality and presentation of food and very comfortable furniture and beds.
Needs more shelf space in our bathroom
The room was luxurious and comfortable the staff fantastic. The food was superb. I would recommend a stay at the Roundabout Hotel.
I loved this Hotel. Stayed here with my husband for one night, as a Birthday treat. Beautifully decorated, (xmas time) quiet lounge are to read papers etc. Had a great Meal in the evening, and a lovely Full English Breakfast in the Morning. Our Room was Massive with a huge queen size bed, large bathroom, desk, table and chairs, with a Huge TV.
Our room was above a staff door, which did bang a few times, up until 10pm. But nothing to serious .
