Old fashioned country house - very helpful and friendly staff, food good. Was a Christmas party with disco on the night of our stay. The staff called to warn of this and check we were ok to continue with our booking. We were allocated a spacious room with kitchen and en-suite, and didn't hear a thing. Excellent.

Beautiful setting in Lakes District countryside. Elegantly furnished, extremely courteous and helpful staff.

Crowded with party-goers at a function downstairs but we were politely advised of this by management in advance and opted to stay. Only down-side was being placed on top floor walk-up room to be away from function noises. It was indeed quiet but not the lovely room we would have expected otherwise.

I generally prefer to find a hotel with a gym, but for the price it can't really be considered a complaint.

We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was spotless and comfortable and we also enjoyed our evening meal.

I was reaqly suprised at the price, and the comfort, as looking at a premier would have cost me £84.00 for just a bed! Great value, i will be visiting again.

Breakfast was good with good selection on offer.

Our room was in the ''roof" with no window to look out,not very pleasant. The bed was very uncomfortable and needed replacing.

This is a fantastic Country House. The staff were excellent an attentitive, catering for my every need. The food was superb - traditional pub style food but with a gourmet touch. The views from the hotel and location are fantastic for getting away from it all. There are many small touches that take your stay at the hotel from good to amazing! Highly recommend to lone travelers, couples or people looking for a relaxing and enjoybale stay either for work or pleasure!

Food was very mediocre.

We booked this hotel for an overnight stay while driving to Scotland. It is secluded and quiet, with beautiful views towards the Lake District. We had a large comfortable room with all facilities. Good value for money. Excellent breakfast.

We were there off season, probably the reason why we found the dinner menu a bit limited.

Warm and friendly staff and good food

Staff need to pay more attention to the small details. For example we were charged for more expensive meals which we didn't have and the maid took personal face flannel from the on suite bathroom when she changed the hotel towels.

Very friendly and helpful staff.

We stayed at The Roundthorn with our 6 month old and 3 year old. The staff were all excellent and there was even an Easter egg waiting for our son. The restaurant went out of their way to accommodate the whims of a small child and our family room even had a microwave to warm baby bottles. Overall, a great hotel and happy to recommend. The Brown's.

Decor a bit tired . dining areas not very inviting not enough staff at breakfast . one waitress worked very hard to cope with the demand.

The Roundthorn is an excellent all-round choice for a visitor to Penrith, offering good customer service in a stunning location with a high standard of decor throughout.
