The public areas are very basic and old-fashioned, but not in a nice way. The breakfast was okay, but not nicely served. Dinner, in the bar, was really disappointing and our fish and chips was below the standard you would expect in any pub in Scotland. This is a hotel which manages to do just enough, and no more. It's supposed tobe a family run hotel, but there was no welcome or visible management.
We stayed as a party of friends. 2 couples were in a deluxe chalet and one in room 11. The chalet was absolutely superb and our room was newly and nicely decorated, although our private bathroom was across the corridor. The staff were willing and helpful, but clearly working flat-out. The hotel could have been lovely with a bit more care and attention to the guest experience.
