Stockton On Tees
On the banks of Loch Lomond in the magnificent Queen Elizabeth Forest, this hotel has spectacular views of Ben Lomond, the Loch and mountains to the north. Rowardennan Hotel is accessible, yet remote. It is an hour from Glasgow, but located at the foot of Ben Lomond mountain (3,195 ft high) and encircled by woodland. There are 2 bars and an excellent restaurant that serves local, fresh produce. Rowardennan Hotel dates back to 1696 and has a contemporary Scottish style. Many of the cozy rooms have stunning views. Bartender was very friendly and accomodating - he made sure I got breakfast after the breakfast closing time! My private bathroom was down the public hall.

Location is beautiful although the last 6 miles is a bit of a nightmare. Poor roads and as I have been before was really glad no snow on the roads. I was surprised by the excellent presentation of the rooms. Very modern and clean with everything you would need for an overnight stay. My daughter had her two young boys with her and they put an extra bed in her room so everyone could have a bed. The service did not match the standard of the hotel. We decided not to have the buffet which was £30 per head and £15 for the kids. This would have cost me £180 in total for al of us for a bowl of soup and come cold meat dishes and salad. Bar food was very good though so it was a good decison to have that instead. Staff were not very professional and in some respects extremely familiar. Swearing in front of guests seemed the norm. Also very scatty and hair brained. My small grandsome dropped a glass on the floor and we had to ask twice for either a dustpan and brush to clean it ourselves or have someone do it. Hotel great, service poor

There wasn't a thing that I didn't like about our stay at the Rowardennan Hotel. The service was fantastic, the food was well presented and delicious, and the room was beautiful with views over Loch Lomond. Not only that, but the price for all of this was minimal to what we received. Definitely recommend everyone to at least experience this hotel once in their lives, you will not regret it!

Friendly staff who were always available for assistance The hotel had recently been refurbished but there were still aspects which could have been refurbished also e.g. new doors but lintels etc were of the old door. The bathrooms had been renovated but the decor was spoiled by old bath sides and the ceiling was badly marked. Other than that all was very good.

Lovely room, staff very friendly and helpful, we had a lovely weekend away as a couple having left our 3 kids with Grandparents. The grounds were lovely and the free range chickens were great!! The girl serving breakfast was especially nice as she saved 2 sausages for our dog! The fact you can take dogs is brilliant! The bar having just opened after refurbishment was freezing as the wood burner was not working properly and the meal we had tasted ok but the 6oz steak was a disappointment as their was 2oz if we were lucky. We also were given a really cold bottle of red wine which of course we couldn't heat up, having said that we quietly complained on the Sunday morning and they were very quick to take the meal off the bill and apologise so handled it very well

Location is perfect for walking. The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly. If I had any criticism the staff were slightly inexperienced and int he morning the person serving breakfast looked as if she had been up all night and was a little scatty - mixing up orders but very friendly. If I was looking for a professional hotel atmosphere it is not here but if I was looking for an atmosphere that would reflect the pub in the corner then I had it here. I actually am looking for something in the middle

My wife and I returned here for our 23rd wedding anniversary because it such a lovely place to just be with someone rather than all the hustle and bustle of other places. Location is a bit remote but that was the reason we chose it again, relaxing in fantastic settings in a nice hotel with good food and great staff. Having stayed there a coiuple of times now we would find it difficult to think of anything we don't like about the place.

First and foremost the excellent welcome when we arrived and the friendlyness of the staff throughout our week's stay. Quite isolated but very relaxing hotel where you can switch off totally.

The location is fantasic, plenty to see from the hotel no need for the car (Unless you want the shop which is 7 miles away) The hotel is set right on the loch and the forest and it is amazing! Plenty of paths and routes to walk from right outside the hotel. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.. Full "Scottish" breakfast was really nice. The rooms are very modern with lcd Tv's nice big beds and a great bathroom with power showers. There was just one small detail with the room, were a smoke alarm had been fitted the paint around it hadn't been touched up. It's a tiny detail! The Breakfast was very tasty just I think it stops to early, 9am... That's hard work when you have been on the beer all night!

The room was very nice and the young lady at reception was very welcoming. The drying room was very helpful. The restaurant/bar was a big disappointment. We had expected the decor, service and menu to be much better from the hotel description. The restaurant/barstaff were all very young and didn't seem to be very interested or helpful.

Fabulous peacful location on the shores of Loch Lomand, amidst stunning scenary. A genuine and warm welcome from all staff; all of whom were pleased to help. A warm and friendly bar with a good pint on tap. Good home cooked and wholesome food (the haggis stack with whisky cream sauce, as well as the apple pie, were very good indeed!) An ideal hotel for walkers, very close to major trails. The bedroom room was basic, but comfortable and clean with a good bathroom.

Rooms are comfortable, good breakfast. Manager directly laughed at me (non uk native) as I had some difficulties with Scottish accent ! ! ! It was a very unpleasant situation ! Do they speak French ? If not they could have express more empathy ! I definitely dislike and non recommand this hotel to all people who want to visit Scotland, not because of the hotel itself, but due to the manager's behaviour.

We went to Rowardennan for a weekend trip. We had a lovely time, the location was beautiful and the hotel was lovely. We took the cruise to Inversnaide and walked over the waterfall and up to Rob Roy's view. I really enjoyed my time at Rowardennan especially as I got engaged on the banks of Loch Lomand!

Good location for hiking up Ben Lomond. Good breakfast. 1- Booked a double en-suite room but were given a twin with the bathroom across the hall. 2- No itemised bill was given just a to pay amount at check-out. 3- When one was requested we were told the printer was not working, when finally a make shift bill was produced it showed we had been over-charged by £23!!!! Nice hotel but do check what room you have been allocated and definitely do check your bill.
