Diificulty of finding parking

Great hotel, good service, nice restaurant and perfect location

Staff were very friendly and hospitable especially Kerry on recption, Farhana at breakfast and Gavin the concierge.

Room was a bit dark otherwise spacious and comfortable.

beds were comfortable. nice to have a pool and spa to relax in, when in a city centre. food was ok.

Not enough staff - at times it felt as if it was self service.

Good location, excellent staff. Provided the internal noise is addressed in the new wing will definitely return.

Difficult to find, car unloading and locating park poor. Internal constant background noise in the new wing was intolerable, had to move to old wing which was fabulous.

Location and the "Scottish charm" of the facility. The staff is particularily friendly. Suggest asking for the older building.

Hotel location is excellent for the City Centre. Staff first class. We will stay again .

Bed was very small, hardly a double. The bar. Untidy, a mess and bordering on rude service. Shame, lets the side down.

Location in relation to where I worked, but also good for shopping and sight seeing around the New Town area. Well equipped gym. Interesting design across a number of old town houses.

Breakfast service was poor - slow, with many 'managers' seemingly mostly standing around and serving staff lacking in ability to prioritise customer service, E.G. needing to ask for plates at buffet, waiting 10 minutes plus for coffee and a bowl of porridge. Also food lacking in quality and variety and inspiration - ditto for room service.

It is overall clean, beside the cattle which stinks and is not usable.

They have lost my reservation, and put me to sleep in a room so small that the bed was trapped between walls and waredrobe. I had to move the bed against a wall to reach the window. Very unconfortable. The staff coul have give me a refund or a discount but they didn'T. Also the staff does not give informations about what to do in town, not friendly. Very bad experience.

Check-in process was extremely long. Staff claimed that it was the new system but it used to be the same when it was a Macdonald hotel

Just one lift to my part of hotel and despite the best efforts of the staff some selfish individual double parked in the garage blocking our exit and almost causing us to miss a wedding we were attending!!

The location was very good being just of Prices Street and very near shops, restaraunts and bars.

The day we arrived the hotel was being re branded, from a Macdonald hotel to a Crowne Plaza. We were not aware of this and ordinarily would not have been a problem. However it was obvious the hotel was very tired and in need of some TLC. We had three rooms between us, 2 were fine but the third although had been clean, there was dust on the mirrors, the bed was as if someone had just had a lie down, and no toiletries were supplied until we asked. Would sugest that in a couple of months this would be the place to go as we have experience staying at a Crowne Plaza and know the standard they provide, but for the short term would avoid staying here...just wished we had been advised of the pending re brand!!

Being woke up at 4am by room next door reported it to security but I couldn't get back to sleep ,so pretty tired that day from not getting good night sleep.

Warm, relaxed atmosphere. Close enough to centre yet quiet and stress free.

Ladies gym changing rooms could be less exposed when doors open to admit new patrons.

Food Service

1. Entrance doesn't have revolving door so wind whistles through reception when people go in or out 2. Hot tap didn't work in bathroom so bath had to be filled from shower and drainage from wash basin very slow. 4. Room was not made up until afternoon and then only after request made despite Please Service Room sign left on door. 5. The unattractive bar and lobby decoration is horribly out of keeping with the attractive period building
