Score from 1089 reviews Fabulous
We thought the staff from reception/restaurant/concierge and housekeepers were very polite friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.It was the first time I had been away with just my daughter and we would love to do this again as our stay was too short. Thank you.
Attentive staff Location
Lift (only one that I say) was too small and dreadfully slow
The room was very small and no storage for underwear etc. Could barely get in and out of shower as little space between doors. Basin so small had to use a glass to fill the kettle. Our room was at front of building over looking Charlotte Square so we got vey little sleep due to noise. We had one evening meal and breakfast three mornings Whilst the cold breakfast was quite good hot food wasn't.
Very central Comfortable bed Spacious bathroom Friendly staff Club room with nice service
Trouble with elevator View from room (none) Only one comfortable chair!
The staff were really, really helpful - both those on the Reception Desk and the Concierge service.
Unfortunately didn't have chance to check out the gym :-(
Handy to shops.pubs.night life.good place to stay.very clean hotel.
A very nice and snazzy hotel with all the mod cons and a very sophisticated air. Good restaurant and bar. A pool, gym and even a spa! Lovely!
Car park a bit small and they're very keen on taking your keys so they can move it later. Wasn't keen. But the concierge sorted it all out and I got the best spot!!
location is perfect, room is good and staff are very helpful
lift are very slow and very small for such type of hotel
Staff very helpful with car parking, easy access to transport and festival locations
Could have done with better lighting in the bedrooms
Location Staff ( esp the Concierges having to deal with the parking arrangements!). Their patience is admirable. Breakfast Facilities
The view from the room (102) The gap from under the door that allowed the light to shine through after dark. The toilet being so close to the adjoining bedroom/toilet door The car parking - suggestion - why not just allow 19 spaces for cars or request the concierge to bring cars destined for imminent departure day to the front of the parking lot reversed parked to allow easy departure of guests.
Spacious, clean room. Attentive staff. Great bathroom.
A bit noisy in the morning around 7.30.
Everything was spot on.
I couldn't fault anything x even went for afternoon tea about 4pm without booking and the waitress was great even though she was busy x throughout our stay everyone was helpful x good relaxed atmosphere x would definitely go back
The rooms were clean and comfortable beds
Staff were excellent The room was comfortable and clean We had a club room which gave us access to club lounge which was very nice The hotel is in a good location
Was rather pricey as was the parking
The roxburgh was a lovely place, just where we wanted to be, the staff were very helpful and friendly
Our bed was not the comfiest and also the toilet seat was broken, the bath had a chip in it and really the shower curtain is a bit dated
lovely location and the staff are so professional and helpful. The room was well presented and the breakfast wondeful!, The club room was of great benefit to us and a wonderful place to end the day. We look forward to coming back next year
Location in New Town Edinburgh on Charlotte Square: perfect
This hotel is a disgrace. It is in a prize position in the most elegant of Georgian terraced squares in the New Town of Edinburgh. The name of the hotel is discretely displayed on a brass plate by the door. Clearly, an up-market establishment. But you step from this elegance into…a murky dark reception area, a standard American-style hotel, devoid of any Georgian character. The first thing to catch your eye is a six-foot high multi-colored advertisement to join the club class of the hotel chain. For 215 pounds per night plus 19.50 for parking ($393; €294) this was not what we had expected. Check-in took at least 45 minutes although there were only three guests ahead of us. We then waited for 15 minutes in our room for our luggage. In answer to our third call, we were asked “is it the three black cases?” Ours were blue. They came in 5 minutes, delivered by the concierge himself. We tried to call a local number. The line was out of order. We called reception. They said it would be fixed “immediately”. When we left, three days the phone was still not working. It was late. We called reception to enquire about laundry. We learned it was too late to deal with this today but were assured it would be ready by 1630h if they received it by 0800h. We would have liked to sleep later but called at 0730h to have it collected. We learned that we had to deliver it ourselves; the hotel did not collect from rooms! After two protests they sent a stony-faced concierge up to collect it. By this time it was 0815h. Needless to say, we were too late; we had to wait until the day after to get it back. It was pretty clear that these problems were simply bad management. The staff were certainly friendly and polite. It was simply that nothing seemed to work! All this would have been less annoying if our “Club Class” room had been anything more than a standard economy. Check it out, room 304. There is only one place to put clothes, a cupboard with a 30-inch rod for hanging clothes.
Comfortable Easy Excellent location for city
Staff was very helpful.
The rooms and common areas are "dated" compared to Balmoral and Tigerlilly..
The room not being ready as the computer was down so we got a complimentary upgrade.
attentive staff who could not do enough for you. james was the first person we had contact with and was excellent in making sure we got checked in and shown to our room.
Loved the welcome we received on arrival. Some of the friendliest Reception staff we have ever met. James in particular was a 'star'. All staff were immaculately dressed and couldn't do enough for us.
Being told that the Restaurant was full on the Saturday evening when we went down for dinner just after 7pm and that we couldn't be seated till well after 9pm. We should have been advised to book a table when we checked in that morning. We ended up going out elsewhere to eat. Also disappointed when we went for Lunch on the Sunday to be told that they had no mussels, seabass, monkfish, pigs cheeks etc. left as they'd been so busy the night before! Again we ate out elsewhere.
