Creaky Floor boards got to be irritating BUT it is an old property so it is to be expected
Location and friendly staff
Stayed here many times and alway happy with hotel and facilities but on this visit we had a very uncomfortable bed!
Italian restaurant. garlic prawn. Seabass . Bailey's cheesecake Excellent friendly service.
poor quality matress
The room was clean and staff were polite, helpful and welcoming. I was a woman on her own and preferred room service, but food was very good, however the only down point was that there was no hotel information in room or menu. Plus I had to struggle up stairs where there wasn't lift access with a suitcase and no body offered to help. But barr that set back, I would definitely stay again. Town was very accessible from hotel.
Wonderful old building near to beach and town. Great views from our bedroom and warm welcome from the staff after a difficult 6 hour journey. Good food, comfortable accommodation. Have stayed before and will be back in the future.
Different places in the hotel to eat.
Very warm welcome and great breakfast.
Friendly staff, good location with great views from window, excellent breakfast.
Hotel a little tired looking and in need of some updating.
Nice staff and a very comfortable hotel, ideal for a coastal break. Lovely views and excellent access to the town and surrounding areas. We shall return.
We returned after our first day out to find the room only half cleaned, with the coffee cups unwashed. The bin had been emptied but the bagged contents were left on the dressing table. On the second night the heating didn't work at all and the porter was unable to help, so we froze.
Staff are very friendly. Rooms are clean and tidy.
Only one cup in a double room
Breakfast and bath room were good. The reception area very pleasant.
Bedroom carpet filthy, out of date bedroom decor, bed very hard. Staff didn't know how to smile.
This is a cosy hotel within walking distance of the town centre and the beach front. Great views and lots of nice walks within easy distance. Very nice and friendly bar with excellent value drinks and food. The restaurant is first rate and the hotel has wonderful and friendly staff. There was a problem with a light in our room and we were moved immediately without any fuss. Staff always seem to enjoy there jobs which makes it a pleasure to visit. We have stayed here regularly and would do so again.
Sadly the hotel does need some investment as certain areas are looking tired and worn. The WiFi is poor, particularly in some of the bedrooms and the beds do need upgrading. For the full price this is quite expensive but on a reduced price deal this becomes good value.
The room was uncomfortably hot even after turning the heating off by the wall
Very friendly hotel in a good location. Excellent restaurant.
Rooms a bit dated
Would like to have better coffee,eg use of a cafetiere . Coffee was not always fresh.
The room The atmosphere The food The staff The location Flexibility Reception and bar staff were particularly nice. Special mention must be made of a barman called Joseph; very professional and pleasant with the customers. In addition, when my meal was late coming, they were very apologetic and offered me a drink on the house. The manager at reception even apologised to me the next day, though I had never mentioned it.
My room didn't have reliable internet access, but the bar was very good.
The hotel is in a great location, the staff are freindly the room is clean. All around good hotel..... thumbs up
The room was clean and warm and had beautiful views. The breakfast was very good. I would stay again
When I booked the room on line I booked a double bed, when we arrived there were 2 single beds. And the shower only ran cold.
Lovely hotel over looks the beautiful sea front!
Hard to get parked!
Superb staff, excellent location
What a shame this once lovely hotel is locked in a state of seemingly terminal decline. Repossessed by the Bank, a disastrous lack of any noticeable investment has left this once really nice hotel literally crumbling around it's temporary residents feet. Unfortunately the only way to stay here, until the current state of limbo changes, is if you can negotiate a substantial discount from the now ludicrously optimistic 'rack-rate'.
As the hotel is on the Beacon, the views across the estuary, from the hotel, are quite breath- taking. The reception was very helpful and efficient. The room I had overlooked part of the bay and was very well looked after. The room was clean, warm and comfortable; the bed was very comfortable. As it was Christmas we were given a Santa hat with some assorted goodies, which was a nice idea.
The floor boards creaked, but so would I if I were over 200 years old !
The large room. Warm with adjustable radiators. Wonderful views. Comfortable bed. Most food. Greeting by waitress working Christmas day and Boxing Day. Christmas stocking left outside door on Christmas day.
"Greeting" by waiter at breakfast on Christmas day Long wait for breakfast. Hard bacon. Lift doors which closed too quickly on anyone slowly getting in. There seemed to be no detectors preventing this happening. Painful for an old or disabled person.
The bar was nice and cosy. The breakfast room had nice views. Comfy bed but too hot the first night as had one of those matress protectors on it that make you sweat, so we took it off the bed. Booked for location mainly.
The room was shabby and needed updating as had very old wall paper. The staff were not very friendly or welcoming. There was a large dead rat in the middle of the car park which was off putting! Overpriced.
Location. Friendly staff. Hotel has nice atmosphere.
Bed/mattress very uncomfortable, lumpy. It could do with a real make over, eg. bathroom had peeling wallpaper, floors, carpet poor condition. Carpets needed cleaning.
Staff were friendly food good, Two friends came round for an evening meal which we enjoyed although the habit of serving steak without vegetables when they are offered with other meals is a bit disappointing.
Parking facilities and the inability despite 3 requests to get two of the room lights repaired
