Good,
Score from 105 reviews
“ I was suprised at the standard considering the low charges and both myself and partner were pleased with the room and service. The staff were friendly and polite and responded imedietly to a problem. A problem developed with the toilet system. I reported it, upon which the staff member came imedietly. ”

Staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Room was just what we needed and imaculate. Breakfast was superb and generous portions. They were refurbishing, but this did not get in the way for us in all honesty. In fact we were very impressed with the work they were doing and would definitely go back again to see how they got on.

Flexible staff always willing to help and very polite. Excellent breakfast, good value for money. Good size room overlooking the harbour. Lovely area to look around and hotel in perfect spot for touring around the area. Bathroom very small and in need of a better quality finish. Parking limited.

We did have a sea view at extra cost which was great.Large four poster bed. Very comforable. No lift- we were on top floor!! in our 70's- help was available for our luggage thank goodness, but a long climb. Breakfast was not their speciality- cold kippers on a cold plate!! Was rectified by the microwave I suspect. The whole building is certainly in need of updating,

Ideally situated right next to the harbour. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely breakfast and huge portions. Nothing was too much trouble and even carried our bags up to our room when we said we could manage. Highly recommend paying the extra for a luxury room, the spa bath was fantastic size with plenty of hot water and room for two! Also the huge bed was straight out of fifty shades and really comfy. Nothing, the hotel is under going refurbishment but this didn't affect our stay in any way.

The views towards the harbour. The breakfast and the overhaul relaxed atmosphere. The window above the door in the room lets in the light at night and its too bright its difficult to sleep with that problem.

The Royal Britannia is not an hotel,it is a pub with accommodation. It looked run down and shabby. The time to book in was from 1500 hours, our room was not ready at 15.15 we had to wait around until 16.30 to access our room. There was no reception desk and no one appeared to be able to speak English,a lady was called from the bar to check our booking. Our room was described as 26m2 in area with the facility to put in an extra bed if required.I would say this room was closer to 15m2 and it would be very difficult to fit in an extra bed.Needless to say being a pub there was a fair degree of noise with continuous music. We checked out after 3 nights.Another guest checked out 2 nights early also unhappy with the accommodation.

The room we booked had a harbour view. Despite the website which stated that the hotel had undergone a major refurbishment the only sign of this was in Room 2 which had been decorated and furnished to a good standard. Other public rooms were unusable - awaiting redoration/refurbishment. The main reception area was a mess. The staircase carpet was dirty. The breakfast menu - extra charge - was not fully available. The overall impression was very scruffy. The owner/proprietor was never identified/introduced. It was an expensive "room ony" - £158 for 2 nights Thurs/Fri + £20 for 2 breakfasts - and we expected a better standard from what we read on the website.

Clean and comfortable rooms and easy relaxed and friendly staff We were in the Family room with adjoining rooms and our room had windows into the hall so the light shone in all night. I couldn't find a light switch - I presume they are on all the time for safety but curtains in our room would have been good.
