Location & Price
Comfy Bed Good Location
Heating wasnt working so we had a storage heater which took a long time to heat up the room. The towel rail wasnt working so Couldnt dry our towels. The shower was very poor with very low pressure which was very disapointing.
location was perfect, reception area lovely with nice bar.
rooms in desperate need of renovation
location big room
Great location at sensible price
Try to avoid rooms facing the main street.
Reception staff very helpful.Staff in Restaurant very efficient and attentive.Especially Trianna.
At the present the hotel is going through Renovation program .The room had a problem with the heating system and the room was cold. The hotel supplied electrical heater but did not heat the room sufficiently for this time of the year.
The location was really all that I see going for this hotel
The corridors and rooms were of a different age - definitely in need of modernisation. I thought that the cost of accommodation, which didn't include breakfast, was not good value for money.
Glossy bar area
We had 4 rooms for 2 nights and as seasoned hotel users were disappointed by shower heads which didnt work with fungi unclean toilets smoke alarm hanging from ceiling dislodged ceiling tiles radiators not working dirty tea coffee facilities breakfast was 9.95 and had powdered orange juice raw sausage rubber powder based scrambled egg we waited 15 m for a pint as tbe glasses were in dishwasher and was served warm
I was only there for a night so cannot say what I liked I only slept there didn't speak to any staff sorry
The room I was given although clean the walls had black marks all over which I know can come off, I booked this hotel because it says all rooms have been renovated but the one I had wasn't even the corridor was tired wall paper coming away from the wall it is the only hotel I have stayed at that had bouncers at the doors at the front of hotel yes it was quite clean but I wouldn't stay there again I didn't feel safe
the staff were very attentive and went the extra bit to be helpful they found me an empty storage room to charge the wheelchair battery overnight
although they provided us with a shower the access was not very good for my disabled wife but this was only a minor niggle the major problem was no car parking facilities
The refurbished rooms are glorious! And the view that some of them have onto Prince's Steer is astonishing! We will definitely be back.
Excellent position and friendly staff
Booming music until the wee hours of the morning
Newly refurbished room Good shower and bathroom Nice and warm room Lovely reception
Partner thought bed was too soft, I disagreed but personal preference. Some areas of the hotel still undergoing refurb. Lights broken in lift
staff and breakfast
we booked single rooms which show on line that they were just refurbished but we were put into old twin rooms at the back of the hotel where at night the banging coming from the building across the road was horrendous it was well into the night before we got any sleep. we are pensioners and intended to spend the rest of our stay shopping but we just came home early as we were too tired to walk about.
Excellent location and good room, the corridors etc are still being refurbished.
Bar seems to be pitched at passing trade rather than guests and the wine is very poor quality for the price.
Room was excellent 107 Staff were very helpful and courteous
The location of the hotel is helpful for all those who would like a central "home base" for sightseeing throughout Edinburgh. The bar by the lobby is modern and a fun last stop for a night cap before you turn in. Refurbished room was a plus - highly suggested to request one if you stay.
Past the main entrance and public facilities of the hotel, the building is far less modern and is undergoing construction in many areas. It has a dormitory-like ambiance. There was no elevator for my refurbished room, which was not a problem for me, but might be something to consider if you have difficulty walking up a few flights of stairs.
The staff were excellent in all our dealings with them and were really happy to store our luggage before check in & after we checked out but were still shopping. The complimentary toiletries were really nice
Our rooms were on 4th floor when lift only goes to 3rd - not great when i need to use a walking stick & we had my 10mth old granddaughter in a pushchair. The music was so loud in the bar at 5pm that we couldn't hear the receptionist speak in the lobby & therefore had to go elsewhere for a drink & our evening meal.
excellent location opposite the entrance to the Waverley Station. The recently refurbished room was comfortable, excellent Wi-Fi and the air conditioning was as quiet as a mouse.
Small problem with the lift not working for the 3 days, luckily we had minimal luggage
Once upstairs to reception everything was immaculate and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Lighting in lift very poor and quite a bad damp smell when entering ground floor.
Location staff and shower!
No fan in bAthroom resulting in fire alarm going off twice and ppl having to come in to our room whilst we were half dressed! Otherwise really lovely stay
We were pleased with the location of the hotel, we came out of Waverley station and the hotel was directly opposite. Shops, Christmas markets, castle, pubs and eateries were all in walking distance which was great.
We were a bit disappointed with the decor of the hotel and our room, it needs a refurb through out, but that didn't stop us from having a good time.
Toilet seat loose Very noisy music downstairs preventing sleep until after 1 00 am Room 111
Easy check in ,helpful staff,Juniper Bar excellent place to have a cocktail and catch up with friends.
Room. Bit noisy as directly looking out on Prince's St could do with either double or treble glazing
I liked almost everything. The reception staff were very accommodating and helpful. l had to leave luggage the day before I checked in and this was dealt with most professionally. The location is excellent and I really liked the atmosphere.
It is a pity that there's no seating on the lowest level. I had to wait to be collected one evening and would have like to be able to sit at the main entrance - and perhaps read a newspaper!
