The staff makes this a fantastic hotel. It has basic facilities, doesn't pretend to be what it isn't but its music affinity, and food, and drink pricing makes this an excellent fun hotel Nothing!

The room was excellent, clean, spacious though a tad noisy it was completely acceptable I did not like having to wait 25 minutes to book in due to lack of staff. One said hello then disappeared to do other jobs he reappeared 10 minutes later. I don't like saying this, but booking.com asked me for comments that was one the other is the breakfast was absolutely horrible. It was smoked bacon and overcooked or had been cooked a long while before being served. We were not asked for a choice we were just given it, the beans were almost dried up the egg was solid as if it was cooked at least 1 hour before it was served, but smoked bacon I have never ever heard of that being served in a hotel before Well there we go they are my likes and dislikes and no I won't bother going back. Oh! another point I went to Crewe to meet family, we had been out for a drink and came back at 11.30 pm with a friend and her daughter but they refused to serve drinks to my friends and would only serve my wife and I because we were guests. Well hard luck to the Royal Hotel they lost about £60 in bar takings

It was OK and the breakfast was good The last person to occupy my room was a smoker and the smell prevailed.

I have stayed at the Royal Hotel many times since 1995. It is very useful for railway enthusiasts like myself being so close to a major railway location and of sufficient size, catering, a public bar and value for money. No bad words at all.
