Internet wifi not good signal
I arrived late and tired and on arrival was offered a sit-down and a glass of beer while my luggage was taken upstairs. Staff remembered my name throughout my stay
No WiFi of Mobile signal.
Beautiful surroundings. Lovel food
Being asked to leave the bar at 10pm as they wanted to close
View from bedroom. Enjoyed the food. Staff were very helpful.
Position of TV in the room. too high and it could not be swung round enough to view in bed comfortably. No table lamp on one side of the bed.
Breakfast and evening meal was excellent, the staff were very helpful indeed. Worth the 8.2 rating.
excellent freindly staff! loved the fact our dog was welcomed.Excellent breakfast
no wifi in rooms and limited access in lounge which normally wouldn't be a problem but also no phone signal which is obviously not the hotels problem, but as I had a very ill relative kept needing to drive out of symonds yat to get a phoen signal!
The view from the room was lovely and the location is a big plus.
The en-suite was disgusting, the breakfast was over-priced (so we went elsewhere) and the staff couldn't answer questions about the facilities they'd advertised (i.e. bike hire)
Room, staff, bed and the views. More likely than not, will book again.
Nothing, everything was fine.
Staff very helpful, location stunning. Excellent evening meal.
Hotel requires an update, furnishings and furniture a little sad. Problem with communication regarding dog, hotel or booking.com? Staff resolved problem quickly.
Cracking view from my bedroom window - I could lie in bed and see down the valley without lifting my head, and the scenery is very picturesque. Also great access to Symonds Yat if you're reasonably active - that path is STEEP. Excellent sleep on both nights, and overall a very cosy atmosphere.
I'd like to have seen a bit more in the way of 'small plate' food - I'm not a big eater and the cost and portion size of the evening meals was generally too much for me - it would have been a waste.
Room was lovely and big, very clean, staff very pleasant. We had an evening meal which was delicious. One night was not enough and can not wait to go back to Royal Lodge, views from room 1 were fantastic, if you want a bit of peace and quiet and a room with a view this is the place to go
Having to go home!!!
Lovely double aspect room with great views
No water in bathroom unable to have a shower took over 45 minutes to run the bath!! whole place is tatty and tired needs ajolly good face lift food is poor Powdered scrambled egg fro breakfast YUK!
Location breathtaking evening meal and breakfast lovely
Friendly staff Good food
decor in Lodge bedrooms a bit tired, broken bedside lampshade, holes in curtains
This seemed the best place to stay in Symonds Yat. The rooms were good. The public areas very horrible downstairs. I used the ladies' toilet an it was like something out I a night club! Also the staff weren't very friendly. I needed to leave my case and they wanted to just dump it in the corner of the public lounge - not very safe. People that own it need to be friendly if they work in a customer focused environment. Hotel is cheap for location though and great location so I would stay again. Symonds Yat is one of re most beautiful places in Britain. Don't eat in this hotel eat at the Saracen's Head and get the steak or the pie. Some of best food I've ever had.
Riverside location. Friendly staff and great service. Food good and prices fair.
No complaints. Will definitely be back
We love the scenery and walks by the river
The food was good particularly the scones soup and my cooked breakfast.
Very cramped bathroom
The hotel is situated at the base of Yat Rock with the walking trail to the summit right on the doorstep. Its an ideal hotel if you want to get away form it all and make the most of beautiful walks through woodland. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was a little expensive.
Quiet and peaceful location
I think parts of the hotel need some TLC
This is in a great location with beautiful views over the Wye Valley
I cant find any negatives
clean room and nice linen hot water
tv intermittent small room
The staff were very welcoming. The room was very clean and comfortable. The food was excellent. A quiet and relaxing stay with the added bonus of a view.
The location was the best thing. We have been to the area before and knew where we wanted to stay. We could walk, canoe, have beautiful views without driving. Very quiet and on the River Wye. Staff were really nice and very helpful. Hotel was spotless and comfortable.
Perhaps a little too quiet for more than 3 or 4 days, but well worth a visit.
