Superbly located in Portsmouth’s lively waterfront development, Gunwharf Quays, this hotel offers bright, modern rooms with buffet breakfasts. Stores, bars and restaurants are on the hotel doorstep.
Score from 779 reviews Very good
This modern hotel is in the middle of Portsmouth, just 1700 ft from Portsmouth and Southsea Train Station. The Ibis Hotel Portsmouth has a 24-hour snack menu, on-site parking and a stylish restaurant....

Rear facing room - no road noise and wonderful view of spinnaker tower.
In older section waiting for revamp, beds comfy but room very tired - were not warned.
location, food,and good staff
Great location, beautiful hotel and so convenient as the Historic Dockyard is just down the road.
There aren't enough parking spaces outside the hotel only 18 of them. We stayed on a bank holiday weekend and car parks were full - this is a problem which needs to be addressed by the hotel. We had to park in Southsea and taxi back to the hotel.
The staff were very nice and helpful, food was good. Very clean rooms and a terrific location for our purposes. Reception staff extremely helpful and friendly. Parking concessions were a great benefit . Perhaps a telephone in the room could be an addition in the future?
The ladies toilets require updating and a good air freshner.
the room, the bathroom, the location, the price, the pay on arrival . breakfast: one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had in this country.
smelt very stale when arrived, but next day was better. the public areas very dated with the feel of a seaman's club - which it is! did not feel that we wanted to eat in the restaurant or drink in the bar with our wives.
A place to put a smile on your face
Room and sleep far to hot
Staff. Food good at the price paid. Room quite spacious
Rooms tired and need a refit.
Staff -friendly, helpful and service with a smile.
Room - unable to open windows. Very hot in the night. Shower didn't work properly - only boiling water. Bath disgusting state. Bed - uncomfortable Corridor - awful smell
Nothing to dislike
Best breakfast I have had in a hotel. Close to the Quays Traditional historic different from big standard hotels
Loos in reception clean but very old fashioned. Understandably very masculine with dark wood panelling and plain dark wood bar but prefer a few feminine touches
The hotel was brilliant in terms of location because it is a few minutes walk away from the Historic Dockyard and just a little bit further to Gunwharf Keys where the shops and restaurants are. The room was very nice and they were very generous with the tea and coffee. We did not eat in the restaurant but the breakfast buffet was well cooked and presented and compares very well with what we have experienced elsewhere.
The room was very hot which made sleeping difficult.
Staff very friendly breakfast good great location good showers
Wifi hard to connect too.
Great location. Free wifi. Secure parking close.
The facilities are a bit old & shabby.
My job as a front of house manager, means that I am well aware of when something is filthy or if it needs refurbishment. In this case it is the latter. The bed sheets, towels, behind and under the beds, carpet where all clean. Just a bit of ricin their decor is much needed. Which is a shame for such a big hotel. All in all in was a great experience and the two nights stay was good. The cups where clean, and we were provided with clean ones the next day after use, as well as a top up of refreshments without having to ask. Lovely time.
Staff could of been a lot more helpful with where we where going and finding are room was like a maze hunt. I'm 21, so me and my friend found it hilarious but a bet a family of 5 wouldn't.
breakfast good location
Brilliant location to Gunwharf Keys
Upgraded rooms excellent very clean, no air conditioning but a fan on the dresser helped as it was a hot weekend. The breakfast was great and plenty of it all self service with very friendly staff. The bar was very old fashioned but the drinks were cheap.
Car parking could be an issue but we managed to park outside. Its a very old fashioned hotel smelt a bit old but very clean. The swimming pool if you could call it that was very green I personally wouldn't but fish in it!!
Excellent location very close to Royal Navy museum.
Nothing to dislike.
Friendly staff Great location Good value Clean
Bedroom a bit stuffy, even with open window
Best Position to visit Portsmouth
Location couldn't have been better, 1 minute walk around the corner to the Historical Dockyard and the Spinnaker Tower. Few minutes away from Gunwharf. Pillows were fab, felt very much at home. Looked after my luggage up until my coach arrived. Very interesting and pretty lobby area. Would definitely recommend, and stay again in the future.
Nothing major, mainly the noise from the builders outside and the houses local, but understandably uncontrollable (stayed in room 2-4). Wallpaper was peeling in places. WiFi signal slow at times (used to Skype other half of a night).
Location and breakfast.
A bit like an oldies club.
Proximity to historic dockyard. Friendly staff, particularly in the dining room.
The dirty carpets with iron burns, the dust and stains, the blocked basin, the window held by one hinge, the noise. Paid for two nights but only stayed for one. In need of refurbishing.
Apart from the superb location of the hotel; it's own history added an extra dimension; prior to and during our trips to the Portsmouth Dockyard
There wasn't anything to dislike within or around the hotel
