This modern hotel is in the middle of Portsmouth, just 1700 ft from Portsmouth and Southsea Train Station. The Ibis Hotel Portsmouth has a 24-hour snack menu, on-site parking and a stylish restaurant....

I stayed twice at the hotel within a short period; I appreciated the location - close to The Hard interchange for buses and trains, and passenger ferries to the Isle of Wight, all of which I used. Also very close to the Historic Dockyard, the Spinnaker Tower, and Gunwharf Quays with its shops and restaurants. Despite the hotel's nearness to all the activity of Portsmouth Harbour, I found the rooms were pleasantly quiet. Although some parts of the building were showing their age, my rooms (on two stays) had been refurbished, and were spacious, and squeaky clean. The beds were very comfortable. I tried some outside eateries for dinner, but on one occasion the smell of roast beef drew me to the carvery in Horatio's restaurant, where I enjoyed a delicious roast dinner with trimmings, and perfectly cooked vegetables, at reasonable cost. At the end of a hard day's sightseeing, I made good use of the small swimming pool, situated in a quiet location on the lower ground floor. Staff were welcoming and quietly efficient. I also valued the unique history of the hotel, which made it quite special.
The jacuzzi was out of order (and looked as though it had been for some time) and the steam room was not always turned on. However, this was more than made up for by the small swimming pool which was the temperature of a warm bath, and therefore very relaxing for a gentle evening swim.
Location and proximity to dockyard attractions and gun wharf
Its ambiance. Fantastic staff. Great buffet breakfast. Close to historic ships and shops. Would recommend the club to an
Nothing. all great!!
Staff went out of way to provide secure parking for classic car and to provide a breakfast out of hrs so we could catch early ferry without going hungry. Fabulous building inside.
Used wi fi and my account was hijacked. Hence unable to access mail for two+weeks.
Location .easy to visit Historic Portsmouth excellent choice of Restaurants and shopping. Breakfast was more than adequate.
Noise from functions and dirty shabby pool area. Old (but clean) stair carpets..
Felt like the staff would do anything they could to help you and great value for money.
WI-FI was not working or was intermittent on the second day.
All staff pleasent and helpfull. Wonderful Breakfast selection. Dinner Menu excellent.
Stayed for four days and room not Hooverd
Proximity to the Royal Historic Dockyard, fast ferries to the Isle of Wight or Gosport, and also the Portsmouth Harbour railway station. Couldn't be closer!
Parking, that is to say severe limitations to parking a car. You have to get lucky to grab one of about 25 spaces first-come-first-served. Close-by are public car parks, and some street parking with assistance from hotel staff.
Good service and nice large room with bath ..
lift a tad ancient ...
The modernised bedroom was spacious and comfortable, the breakfast was with good ingredients freshly cooked, the memorabilia in the public areas are fascinating (well, for the son of a Royal Navy officer). Overall, really rather nice to know that a place like this still exists.
Not a real dislike, but it was a long way along the corridors to my room
Fantastic location for naval connections Wonderful breakfast
Waiting to check in exactly at 2pm - about 30 people all sat hanging around to wait for room to be finished??? Tired rooms could do with a lick of paint
Location good rooms and good food
We liked the room, plenty of storage for us. Room was plenty big enough Self service breakfast was organised and trays were full all looked very presentable.
Had to wait until exactly 2:00 to check in and other people were waiting Pillows too soft and not enough of them
The individual feel of the building
no jacussi/broken.we were especially looking forward to this
Great location - handy for the Historic Dockyard and waterfront.
Coffee was like dishwater. Rooms basic though clean.
Location, friendliness of staff, overall cleanliness.
Bedroom needed attention - window broken, toilet seat broken, hem on curtains falling down. Carpet in corridors need cleaning.
Staff and service Room size Menu WIFI
No AC so had to have window open Very noisy road, traffic and people
Good location close to the Historic Dockyard & Waterfront
Rooms and Reception areas are looking very tired & in need of a refurbishment
The room and ensuite were extremely clean; good layout of room, good space; tv/wifi etc
No ventilation in room at all; window opened partly to a roof and there was no air conditioning; even putting on the noisy desk fan at night did not create air in the room; actually found it difficult to breath; no staff around the next morning to report this too but heard from other guests who experienced the same
Rear facing room - no road noise and wonderful view of spinnaker tower.
In older section waiting for revamp, beds comfy but room very tired - were not warned.
location, food,and good staff
Great location, beautiful hotel and so convenient as the Historic Dockyard is just down the road.
There aren't enough parking spaces outside the hotel only 18 of them. We stayed on a bank holiday weekend and car parks were full - this is a problem which needs to be addressed by the hotel. We had to park in Southsea and taxi back to the hotel.
The staff were very nice and helpful, food was good. Very clean rooms and a terrific location for our purposes. Reception staff extremely helpful and friendly. Parking concessions were a great benefit . Perhaps a telephone in the room could be an addition in the future?
The ladies toilets require updating and a good air freshner.
the room, the bathroom, the location, the price, the pay on arrival . breakfast: one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had in this country.
smelt very stale when arrived, but next day was better. the public areas very dated with the feel of a seaman's club - which it is! did not feel that we wanted to eat in the restaurant or drink in the bar with our wives.
