Royal Oak Hotel  

Beautiful old building , comfortable well decorated room , friendly staff in the reception & restaurant . Easy adjacent parking . Easily found on the main road . Adjacent stable bar added an extra dimension & lively atmosphere .

The old world charm, top food, excellent location & service.

Getting heavy luggage to room difficult, uneven floors challenging.

Attractive, convenient, well run, friendly and clean. Excellent dinner, and good value. The harpist in the dinning room added to a very pleasant evening.

The breakfast while certainly adequate was the quaity of fast food.

Standard Room a bit cramped Difficulty with cases up stairs and corridors although we had help on the way in Portions too big for elderlies and we don't like leaving food!

Being disturbed whilst using the bathroom by the room staff on both mornings of my stay. The excessively noisy bathroom fan.

We've booked the standard room for one night but its been upgrade for deluxe room free of charge. The room spacious and very comfortable with amazing view from the window. Also it's was a jazz night in the pub nex door. Fantastic music for 2 hours . We really enjoyed our stay

We can't manage to turn tv on in our room

What's not to like, perfect town, perfect location, perfect view. Hotel is quaint, room was clean, bath and shower were spot on, breakfast was good and bar was nice. All in all a great trip and will definitely visit again.

Confusing corridors, but this just added to the fun =P

The location was very good for what we had planned for the weekend. The reception staff and restaurant staff was very helpful. They were able to help me save money over the booking price. The restaurant served good food, drinks and wine with very pleasant and helpful staff.

There was a charge for "mail" on my bill which i didn't notice until I had left. There was confusion over the retaurant charges (placed on my room by mistake) but were taken off and sorted quickly upon my departure. There was quite a bit of noise coming from the bar downstairs but it stopped at 23:30 which was within reason for a Saturday night.

The grill bar was good quality.

The heating in the building was on full blast in every room. I mentioned to receptionist and she retorted that some people complain when it's cold. It didn't make me feel any better and probably will not stay there again because of the heat.

the rest of the staff were terrible I asked for scrambled egg for breakfast had to send back to kitchen twice but still not able to eat it bed was very uncomfortable

There was no problem whatsoever with the hotel, it's facilities, food, accommodation, staff and everything about it was superb. Nothing was too much trouble and our stay was relaxing and all we expected from the royal oak as we have had previous visits there and have always been satisfied 100%.

the hotel was first class for the price, the staff were excellent and very helpful. breakfast was great, rooms spacious, and location superb, will definitely return.

Lovely cosy rooms! Comfy beds. Beautiful outlook from the front, onto the river. Really friendly and helpful staff. I travelled with my parents, and we felt very at home very quickly! Beautiful setting.

Room was large, location was great and parking available. Great breakfast.

Radiator valve was broken and the room was too warm.

The staff are friendly and helpful, Our meal in the bistro was excellent, and the breakfast in the morning was also very good

All staff, from room cleaners to waitresses to receptionists were friendly and helpful. It was warm, clean, comfortable, well positioned in the centre of town, and provided all the services we needed including good food.

One small point. We regulated the temperature of the otherwise too hot room by opening a window. This was because, whilst the radiators had regulator valves, these appeared to have been modified in some way to prevent adjustment by the room occupants.
