Needed to leave early for work and explained this to the proprietor. Breakfast was too late to have any. Worst was the doors to downstairs were locked overnight and the only way out was through a fire escape this at 07.40.
Beautiful room, with great facilities. Really liked the shelf of DVDs and books available, was a thoughtful touch. Food in the evening and breakfast was brilliant, and we had an hour or so playing board games in the pub area. Simple things in the room like bottles of water, coasters and a proper hairdryer were lovely too. Bathroom was a great size for us (albeit us being a little tall for the shower). Lovely bed and linen, with comfy pillows, very homely. Staff very present, welcoming and polite.
Friendly staff, log fire, good beer.breakfast that will keep most people going till mid afternoon, good pub grub for evening meal, clean room, comfortable bed.
not a complaint as such, but found that the room was not cleaned or bed made up during three night stay.
Beautiful room with lovely decor. Bar and restaurant very cosy especially with roaring fire. Very tasty and well presented breakfast.
Wifi wouldn't work so 13 yr old daughter not very impressed.
Fantastic place. Owners were lovely
Lovely artisan gin's on offer in the bar Pet friendliness was great Very good food all freshly made Large room made for easier stay with two small children
Set in beautiful, pristine countryside Romantic country-house decor Vegetarian friendly Tea and coffee making facilities In room ironing facilities Neat and tidy Breakfast: A lovely, simple, perfectly palatable vegetarian breakfast which we ate a roaring fire on our first morning. Summary: I would not recommend this one to a friend.
The Room: The room photographed deceptively well particularly as it had a 4-poster bed it. The reality of the faint nursing home smell which hits as you enter the room and the rickety 4-poster with its lumpy mattress quickly killed any romantic notions we might have had when we made our booking. While it was very neat, it was not clean. The heating was not working and a small electric heater was offered as a substitute but was insufficient to heat the room. Tea and coffee making facilities were much appreciated and made the room somewhat more habitable. The Bathroom: Very tiny but very neat. A mild odour of urine hung in the air as though the bathroom had not been disinfected. The hot water tap in the basin provided tepid water at best. The temperature of the shower could not be regulated and ranged between icy cold and scalding. Especially as our stay was in the height of winter these factors made the bathroom unpleasant to use. Dinner: Inedible. Great menu, poor execution. Cons: -dirty bedroom and bathroom -no hot water in basin -temperature of shower couldn't be regulated -lumpy mattress; bed uncomfortable -room cold as heating not working Summary: I would not recommend this one to a friend.
Love this place, friendly, comfy & cosy. Great stay
Very friendly staff, high quality food and nice facilities. Great location to visit the area.
Staff and owners brilliant couldn't have been more helpful, relaxed welcoming atmosphere and breakfast excellent. Rooms also good size and very warm.
The staff were friendly, lovely room, food was excellent all homemade and good quality products used. Good value for money.Very quiet location short drive into village. The local people were very friendly also.
The noisy family in the next room, they loved to slam the door! at all times of the day/night. (I know this is not the hotel's fault). Nothing else to add as everything was good.
The staff were really friendly and helpful had to move rooms due to a faulty bathroom but issue was resolved with little fuss. Excellent place to stay.
Food took a while to be cooked when the pub seemed quite other than that fine.
Excellent food which was really good value for money, comfy bed and a quiet night
Good Food Dinner and Breakfast Quaint room - Wordsworth Special early breakfast just for me.
Nothing well worth a stop over.
We were looking for a country escape and got one. We had dinner there and the food was really good, we spent the evening playing board games in front of a log fire and drinking local beer. It was bliss after a day spent walking.
The only downside was that our room was overlooking the road and the traffic started early on the Monday mornjng and was really quite loud. Chances are you wouldn't have this problem if you stopped on a Friday or Saturday.
We liked the location, although it is actually a few miles from ulverston, so visitors would need transport. Good range of meals, nice breakfast.
Shame only one veggi option on menu, but after a chat, there were some delicious alternative choices added two days into our visit - maybe this should be under what we liked above. - sorry
Everything. The very friendly and helpful staff went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The room was super and the breakfasts great. We were visiting family and the location was excellent for us.
It was very welcoming, it was very homely, made our stay even better. Will definatley be visiting again
warm friendly greeting & atmosphere. Very comfortable, clean room. Good food. excellent value for money. will definately visit again.
We stayed in the beatrix potter room with our 2 young sons. The room had plenty of space for them to play. We enjoyed a 3 course meal for £9.95 which was tasty. (Burns supper) The hotel was very clean, from the bar, washrooms to the bedrooms. I would stay again.
Remote, Peaceful and Wonderful!! Good sized room with TV and DVD, Excellent bed and good en-suite facilities. Small menu but quality of food was very good
Nothing to complain about at all!
Room was beautifully decorated with modern facilities - and a bath! Really spacious, great room! Breakfast was beautiful as well
Nothing - it was great
Visiting off season and despite 1 of the couple running the establishment being ill we were made very welcome and treated excellently. Food good. Room good. All good. Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxed break away.
Worst I can say? Needing to log back into the wifi every 30 minutes. First world problems.....
Good location. Great value and good menu. Ale and open fire. Could have better wine selection but nitpicking now. Will return.
Down to earth and friendly team. Amazingly quiet room given it was over the bar area.
