The Royal HotelSouth Parade, PE25 3EH Skegness (Show map) Very good, Score from 377 reviews“The staff at the Royal were welcoming and friendly. The Royal ticked all the boxes for myself and my family. Although ours was only a weekend break we were sad to leave and would have loved to have stayed longer as we felt relaxed and comfortable at the Royal whilst we were also enjoying what Skegness had to offer.”

The food was excellent, good choice, value for money and the staff efficient, friendly and polite. The room we were allocated we considered to be of poor quality for a Hotel of this standing. There were no headboards to the beds and only one bedside cabinet and light (it was a twin room). The shower we felt was appalling, it looked dirty and grubby. We requested the cleaning lady to clean it for us but in fact it was no better. We didn't feel we could take a shower all the time of our stay and relied solely on the sink for washing. Had we been staying longer we would have requested to change room. The room could really do with refurbishment.

As individual customers we were put to one side for coach parties. We were unable to have evening meal in main restaurant as this was for coach parties only. The alternative was to use the Indian Restaurant.or the public bar from 7.00 P.M. but by this time bar was full of coach party guests plus coffee tables would have been unsuitable to eat from. At breakfast all tables were reserved for coach parties - no staff to show us to table - just find an unreserved one for yourself. Then had to ask for teacups and tea as preference was given to coach company. We paid for superior room but room was standard - only thing was front view.

Location and a very good breakfast with excellent waiting staff. Bathroom toilet was not clean upon arrival and took two hours from the first request and then a second request for it to be cleaned or a different room? The receptionist cleaned the toilet herself as there were no other available staff on site or spare rooms to be transferred into, she said she had not been able to leave the reception desk due to booking a large number of guests in that afternoon.

We had a superior room which was very big and had a balcony with a great view out to the sea and beach, when we used the restaurant at night we had to use the indian restaurant as there was 2 bus crowds that used the usual restaurant breakfast was buffet style which was ok but was overcooked.

This is a lovely spacious hotel. The rooms are big and beds very comfortable. The food is excellent and plentiful. I particularly liked the fact there is a big games room which the children enjoyed and the lounge is extremely spacious and comfortable, a lovely place to sit either day or night. Would stay nowhere else in Skegness from now on.

It was a lovely historic hotel retaining all of the Victorian character I'd hope for. The location was perfect being right on the green leading to the beach sands. It has a modern bar, and a choice of two restaurants (One English the other Indian), lovely surroundings and wonderfully friendly staff. The hotel didnt offer any toiletries or hairdryers - slightly dissapointing based on the price of the rooms. Also the Bollywood Indian Restaurant at the hotel had great food but showed the movie slumdog millionaire on the wall of the restaurant, which was not only distracting when eating but unsuitable for the many young children that were in the restaurant eating with their families.

The breakfast was excellent, diningroom large and spacious, plently of attentive staff. The location is handy for local facilities with ample parking. the greeting was cold and disinterested. The room was small and facilities basic with no accessible power socket. The bed was uncomfortable. We felt isolated and ignored by staff in the Bollywood resturant.

Food was lovely . Great value for money. Very relaxed and welcoming. Spotlessly clean room and lovely white crisp sheets. We paid extra for a balcony room and didn't realise until we were there that it was one long balcony servinf all rooms so didn't feel very private. The balcony was green and slippy and covered in ciggarett ends and let the hotel down a bit.

The breakfast was good The bedrooms need updating . The hole in the carpet by reception where the plug socket is very dangerous and should have a cover plate on it , my husband is a health and safety officer and pointed it out . The bathroom floor was grubby .

Location and good breakfast. Noisy room - heating pipes made a noise at night. Hotel could do with an update, some parts are ageing. Shower flooded/drain blocked so perhaps there are maintenance issues.

The receptionist was unfriendly Our room was very cold - radiator inefficient and a portable heater was provided. The en suite was like a fridge - no heater at all The shower head was so high that anyone under 5.10 would get wet hair and there was no shower cap

“me and my fiance went to the grand for the first time for a three night break over the bank holiday, although the hotel wasnt modern or fancy our bedroom was big and clean and had everything we needed in it, the owners were lovely and very plesant the breakfast is buffet style eat as much as you want bacon sausage eggs beans mushrooms and more it was tasty and enjoyable.unfortunatley due to unforseen circumstances we had to cut our trip short and the owners used there discretion and didnt charge us for the third night which was very kind of them as they wouldnt of been able to book the room out that evening and lost money.i would definatley go back to the grand and the location of it is fanrastic right by the pier but far enough away from the hussale and bussal of the town noise.would return and i thank the owners for there kind hospitality.caroline@brian” Caroline, Melton Mowbray |
