I thought it was a bit expensive
My wife and I stayed here recently. My wife is disabled. The staff were very helpful. The hotel is fairly old and traditional but we had a modern room in a courtyard which could be accessed by her electric scooter and we had a reserved space in the car park. We had an evening meal in the restaurant on several occasions. The restaurant was well patronised and the food good.
The staff were helpful and accommodating and always keen to help wherever possible. For example they helped find my train times and printed off a timetable for me. Breakfast was excellent, didn't try lunch or dinner but the bar served good real ale.
The was only one plug for the bedside lamp and the alarm clock so you had to choose between one and the other.
Friendly staff, good food.
Garage a bit tight for parking.
Cleanliness of rooms
They stored my bicycle and were very helpful
I have stayed here previously and was pleased to find the hotel and quality of service just as good, and in fact probably better, than last time. Excellent local real ales in the hotel bar.
Great breakfast. Comfortable room
The staff were very friendly although not of local origin (not necessarily a bad thing though as people from North West Wales can be surly and unfriendly if you don't speak Welsh). The cooked breakfast was excellent with genuine local produce and free range eggs (you could tell by the yolks). Good value for money this one
My wife found the small double bed a bit uncomfortable - hard mattress
Nice relaxing environment
Shower a little small and water flow a bit weak
The whole stay was superb from arrival to departure.Receptionist very helpful very cheerfull bartenders, waitressess outstanding couldn't have been more pleasant it made our stay most pleasing I would certainly return again if I was up in North Wales again.
Lots of stairs and no lift
central location was great - easy walk to town, steam train etc. The dinner we had in the dining room was excellent. Breakfasts were fine - nothing flash. The man on the reception desk was very efficient and pleasant when we booked in.
our bedroom faced the street so noisy with the windows open (to get fresh air) but ear plugs helped a bit! Creaky floor boards. Duvet/doona on the bed far too hot, but staff were very obliging when a sheet and blanket were requested. For a hotel that size, not a lot of off-street parking, so if you missed out you had to take your chances on the street.
Food was excellent! Ideally situated for our needs
Had to move rooms midway. Second room was noisy.
Excellent food and staff in the restaurant.
Lack of parking
Great location; v helpful & friendly staff. Nice (single) room. Terrific money-off vouchers for local attractions. Super place to stay.
No Sky at all; not in room or in bar. Not very 21st century in this respect.
You had a choice of a cheaper continental breakfast. They have a covered car park with 2 electric car charging points.
Breakfast was extra. The car park was not big enough for all the guests cars, so it is better to park early.
The staff were all very kind, couldn't do enough. The location is perfect for Snowdonia, all the main beauty spots and attractions are within 30 minutes. Especially enjoyed seeing & hearing the old steam trains based in the town. The food in the hotel was excellent, but there were also some other good eating places close by, to ring the changes. We didn't bother with paying the extra for the breakfast, as we don't usually eat much and preferred to travel away and get brunch somewhere else. Good strong wifi signal. Good powerful shower. Spotlessly clean everywhere. We had a 'courtyard' room, in a newly built annexe, which was beautifully decorated with an indoor 'garden' of geraniums and vines. We will definitely be staying here again.
Nothing really. There were some noisy guests one night, and the sound echoed a bit under the roof of the 'annexe'.
Excellent menu and some of the best food I've had in an hotel for a long time. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Altogether a good experience.
Not enough parking
My room was spotlessly clean, with crisp white bedlinen and towels, and all the little extras provided for my comfort made me feel like an important guest. Also all the staff encountered were without exception friendly, helpful and courteous. Highly recommended.
I can't think of anything really, it would be petty to try and come up with something. No issues.
The location of the hotel and the free car parking. The food was a little more expensive than pub food but the value for money was excellent.
Friendly staff. Parking available comfortable rooms
On one of the mornings my breakfast was not what I would consider a 2 aa rosette standard, but the rest of the time the food was fine.
The hotel was a welcoming place to stay and a place of character with plenty to see and do in the surrounding area I would recommend the Royal Sportsman as an ideal base.
Good location - excellent breakfast-friendly staff
