Food and location
I was disappointed that i would have got my room cheaper by 60pounds if i had booked through the hotel.Ive booked through you on many occasions but i havnt com across this before and we had2 rooms so that is a lot of money. Sorry to have to make these comments but we was all a bit annoyed about it. T Stockton
breakfast was fine and the service was good and kind staff.
nothing really, I did think your wine list was a bit expensive, your bubbles for instance we know we can buy at about £6 per bottle if you charges say £18 you would sell many more, just a thought.
Very convenient for church and shopping Courtyard lovely backdrop to pre-wedding photos
Parking sometimes tricky Sloping floor in room caught us by surprise
Covered car park very convenient when the weather was inclement. Food was excellent, but maybe a little over-seasoned. The Ffestiniog railway 5 mins walk away - fab. Spacious room. Nice bathroom.
Décor of common areas fairly dated. Our room was at the front of the hotel and the road was very noisy. Shower had very low pressure.
I am pleased to say that the Sportsman is under new ownership and what a difference that made! It was a pleasure to stay there and the staff were cheerful and friendly. The food was excellent. I return to Porthmadog about 2 or 3 times a year and had stopped staying here. I now look forward to my next visit.
I thought it was a bit expensive
My wife and I stayed here recently. My wife is disabled. The staff were very helpful. The hotel is fairly old and traditional but we had a modern room in a courtyard which could be accessed by her electric scooter and we had a reserved space in the car park. We had an evening meal in the restaurant on several occasions. The restaurant was well patronised and the food good.
The staff were helpful and accommodating and always keen to help wherever possible. For example they helped find my train times and printed off a timetable for me. Breakfast was excellent, didn't try lunch or dinner but the bar served good real ale.
The was only one plug for the bedside lamp and the alarm clock so you had to choose between one and the other.
Friendly staff, good food.
Garage a bit tight for parking.
Cleanliness of rooms
They stored my bicycle and were very helpful
I have stayed here previously and was pleased to find the hotel and quality of service just as good, and in fact probably better, than last time. Excellent local real ales in the hotel bar.
Great breakfast. Comfortable room
The staff were very friendly although not of local origin (not necessarily a bad thing though as people from North West Wales can be surly and unfriendly if you don't speak Welsh). The cooked breakfast was excellent with genuine local produce and free range eggs (you could tell by the yolks). Good value for money this one
My wife found the small double bed a bit uncomfortable - hard mattress
Nice relaxing environment
Shower a little small and water flow a bit weak
