Breakfast trolley - a really good idea. Takes the pressure off going down to breakfast within a certain time (usually too early). Nice ambiance. Noted that the Telegraph was the only Sunday paper available ;-)
Can be a bit noisy in the corridors with people shutting doors and talking as they head to the breakfast trolley.
Location, price and parking.
Not being told upfront that very convenient closeby parking is usually available.
No internal telephone connection with any member of staff. Checking out at 08.00 on Sunday place reminiscent of 'Marie Celeste' absolutely no sign of human life!!! sending copy of my letter of complaint to Booking.com.
Lovely old building, room with view of the harbour, friendly staff.
Very basic room in a tired state of decoration would be depressing were it not for the view of harbour. A cupboard and fridge on an upstairs landing with advice to 'help yourself to cornflakes and toast (sliced bread) in the morning' does not constitute a breakfast bar by any definition. Being made to feel unwelcome by guests of a Fri night black tie function.
All the staff were friendly and helpful . Bed and room were very clean and comfortable....
A bit to many stairs for me. Apart from that all was fine.
The beds were comfortable, but room could have done with a couple of comfy chairs
very poor breakfast "buffet"-cereal ,yoghourt and toast
Waking up with an unrestricted view over the harbour.
Lack of a lift.
A nice building with a good size bar and outside sitting area. The staff are very nice and friendly. Room was spacious but lacked a few touches. A table between the beds for drinks. Tv needs retuning as it kept freezing. Bathroom modern and clean but no shampoo or shower gel or hairdryer. Standard in this day and age. The bedrooms are up 2 flights of stairs so not suitable for elderly or disabled people. Breakfast is a do it yourself affair with a help yourself cereal and toaster. Not what I like but ok for 1 night.
Nothing bad to say
Breakfast would be better if a fry up was available
no information of location of items
Rooms very dated and although have most facilities they could do wit modernising
Nice decor. Helpful staff
For the price would have expected a breakfast room and hot breakfast option but was fine.
The view over the harbour, the wooden decked outside bar seating area.
The very limited choice of breakfast food & drink.
Staff very friendly, comfortable bed, spotlessly clean.
Situation, quirkiness, friendliness. Suited me needs exactly. And right price!
Nothing comes to mind!
Room good, great views, good bar and club house, friendly staff, reasonable price.
Basic breakfast , toast & jam , apple and banana and corn flakes or rice crispies . In corridor, help yourself, eat in room, no table!
View Cleanliness Staff pleasant and helpful Bed v. comfortable Friendliness of members
Inadequate bed-side table & light. Breakfast just O.K. but dull.
Unhappy with no ensuite. There was no dining room to eat your breakfast.
close to harbour and quite unique ie all the sailing trophies etc
noisy fan in wall next to bed - complained and they explained that it would turn off after preparation of meal - which it did - huge relief as it might have gone on all night and would have disturbed us
good location good price
stale/rotten fruit in breakfast fruit bowl a few simple repairs in the room would have got a higher rating
The back entrance and numerous stairs. The breakfast facilities were barely adequate and sharing a loaf of bread with other guests is not really acceptable.
great setting and people very nice
shower was poor needs more power.
Bed, view, shower, friendly staff
Great location. Nice views. Large room. Nice lounge bar area.
Main entrance street name address should be included in the listing/directions to locate by GPS when arriving by car.
Liked the friendliness of the staff. The bed was comfortable.
Lots of old fashioned rules so maybe better for an older clientele. Quite difficult to get in late at night. Didn't like the bleak breakfast 'bar' which was Happy Shopper orange juice and rice crisps and a toaster that made warm bread (eventually) in a corridor!
