location within Brighton. porter facility of leaving bags prior to getting room and after leaving room.
cleanliness of room, shabby decor in room, badly patched hole in wall, not being able to get a hot drink in the lounge, room window did not open, noisy door outside our bedroom which kept us awake/woke us up in the night - reported this but nothing done.
room was massive lots of room for the dog and baby!
very hot and massive crack on the bath- could do with a refurb
Staff were friendly & helpful
Way to expensive considering the condition of the hotel General poor state of repair Carpets in room & corridors stained
- comfortable bed (queensize). - one of the cheapest hotel during that time. - location close to the sea. - This was a nice building decades ago.
- small, dark room (Nr 321). - blood on our bed sheet. - mould on the walls, especially in the staircase. - Plaster drops off the wall (especially in stair case). Also the room walls have defects. - The walls and carpet in our room are VERY old and smell. - The toilet does not flush properly in our room. - There was an obstraction in the sink, the water did not flow properly. - Curtains are very dirty. - The room was not clean (dust and dirt everywhere). - Checkout at 10am. For later checkout pay 10 GBP/hour. - No wifi in the room. - Overall very old looking building, unrenovated.
The receptionist was very rude and not helpful at all. After listening to her shout at another member of staff how she isn't accepting any other person to stay for the night we finally got access to our room (which was seaview) at 10:30pm the window was left wide open the wind blowing in and absolutely freezing not good for my partner being an asthmatic and susceptible to infection. The bed was as hard as stone so no sleep at all. Breakfast was disappointing with not much choice and when I returned to get a fresh orange juice top up I was confronted with an arm from a member of staff saying no more its closed!! It was 10am at this point but we weren't even aware of how breakfast was served as no one explained there were no rapport from the staff apart from rudeness!
The only positive thing about this hotel is the location.
The walls are literally crumbling, dirty sheets where nailed over the worst parts. The bathroom was dirty, muck and dust in every corner. Gound in dirt on the bath towels. The list is endless!
Grubby Needs decorating
This place is right next to the Peir, and close the main town centre. Large rooms, good value for money..
The main stairs could do with a lick of paint and there's no parking.
Not a lot
The toilet was the most stupid design ever. It simply did not work. You had to pump it like a bike tyre to get it to flush. The room was too hot with the air conditioning not to be used and opening the window let noise from outlet fans into the room even worse than previously.
The location is great and it was cheap
It's extremely outdated and in need of a lot of work. The bath was cracked and gaffer tape had been used to stick it back together. The walls were dirty, as we're the curtains. The walls around the hotel are also damp.
There was nothing nice about the room.
First room smelt of sewage stained carpet just dirty second room had broken chair terrible bed and heating on full unable to turn off TV didn't work bath room dirty. The whole place needs major work
Friendly staff, nice food, value for money
Quality of furniture/rooms some general facitlites
The heating/air con motor running outside the bedroom window
nothing… way to expensive for a crumbling property. This Hotel should be demolished. The owners/directors have no shame to call this a Hotel,it is a dump!
Great location, right across the street from the pier, and bus station also right there. Staff were quick to check you in, could store luggage. The hotel had an historical elegance to it which made it sort of unique. Good value for the price we paid for a night. Lounge overlooked the waterfront.
Room without any natural light, and everything seemed pass its best Also rating misleading
Staff welcoming and helpful. We were able to leave our luggage safely after check-out. The position is excellent for the Pavilion and The Lanes. It was good value for the money.
The hotel has become shabby and seems to rely on coach holiday customers and event lunches. The bedrooms and en suites are dated, but clean. The public rooms need modernising.
Basement room, then moved to another room and windows were facing the club so didn't get any sleep till 3-4 am. Old facilities ( TV, Showers)
Good location and value for money
Building needs a lilltle love and care to bring back to original beauty.
I loved this hotel. Yes faded grandeur but clean, spacious, beautiful sun room and views. Every room I think has a decent view if not the sea. I will stay here again.
