We were very pleasantly surprised on the size and situation of our room. Considering this was a special offer of £38 B&B, we had a 5th floor seaview room with mezzanine floor and comfortable armchairs etc. The buffet breakfast offered everything from cereals, fresh fruit, and at least ten hot dishes. Coffee in pump pots could be improved. Going in March we got a good deal and I'm sure the prices are much higher in season. Would definitely stay at this hotel on another visit. Very limited parking and the charge was £15 but we found parking at the Marine Parade for £4 for 24 hrs!

Considering the reviews I read before I went, was expecting the worst but apart from the system being down when we got there (these things happen) we had to wait about half hour which was fine as relaxed in the lounge with a drink. The staff where fine, the room was clean with plenty of room. Would stay again!

The location is excellant, right opposite the Pier. The hotel is also just a short walk to the bars, restaurants, The Pavillion plus the lanes for shopping. The buffet breakfast was lovely. Just a few little niggly things let this hotel down like wallpaper peeling up at some of the corners plus areas needed a good dusting and hoovering, otherwise a good find.

The location. But that's really all. Hotel completely run down, I was put in the basement into a room basically without a window. Extremely unfriendly staff, simply the worst hotel I have ever been to.

The staff were very polite and helpful, and the room we had was lovely - Even had a jacuzzi bath which was not something we had requested, but was lovely to have! The room was spacious with a great view over the city. My only quibble is that the complimentary shower products were only really enough for one person. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay!

During our brief stay at the Royal Albion Hotel we found the hotel to be clean and tidy. We were lucky enough to get an upgraded room which we found to be more than adequate for our needs. The hotel staff were helpful and efficient at reception and in the dining room. We only had the breakfast and had no complaints, they catered for most tastes. The only minor complaint is that you could wait a while for the lift at popular times. But for the more athletic you did have the option of the staircase.

The staff were very polite and efficient, and were quick to supply me with a few items that were missing from my room when I first arrived. Also, the breakfast buffet had a wide range of good food.

The location and staff. The food, the clientele, and the rooms were appalling. For the price you would expect wifi in all rooms, really wouldn't stay there again, dreadful if your disabled as there is only one lift and they have to maually get the ramps out each time which is not great when it is raining! If you want a place to stay for a hen night and not looking for comfort then it is the hotel for you. If you are a family looking for comfort don't bother.

The main reason for booking the hotel was the location - just opposite the pier. I arrived late which I had already warned in my booking details and was grateful for being promptly allocated a room after reading the other reviews. I had booked a superior double room in the hope of my partner being able to join me. The room I was allocated was a twin bedded disabled room. Why? As it turned out, I ended up alone and stayed with the room, but it wasn't what I had asked for and I had warned Royal Albion I would be late.

Location only, as it was next to the beach. The hotel price and its location opposite Brighton Pier was excellent, but this is the only positive comment I can make about the hotel. On checking in, the reception staff were not friendly or welcoming and made us wait. Although our room was upgraded at no extra charge, it was basic and unclean. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly and there was mould between the tiles and a hairgrip was found on the floor of the bathroom. The windows in our room were filthy and looked as though they hadn't been cleaned for months. The carpet on the stairs of the hotel was filthy and was not cleaned during our stay. The complimentary tray was very basic and the buffet breakfast was unappetising. We decided to have breakfast when the buffet opened at 7.00 am only to be greeted by a large group of workmen, who devoured the cooked breakfast (which looked unappetising in any event). There was a poor choice for breakfast and I therefore went hungry. The hotel looks tired and in need of redocoration and freshening up. I would not be in a hurry to return to the hotel. There were far more superior hotels in the vicinity which I would choose before the Royal Albion.

Not one aspect of the experience! Room 171, in the basement, has a large window and high ceilings. What it also has is a leaking shower (over bath) with resultant constantly wet tiled floor and saturated, smelling carpet into the bedroom, rotting door frame and the associated smell permeating the bedroom. Tile grout around the bath is badly stained, ceiling coving marked with mould stains and wall paper coming off the bedroom walls. The window faces a basement wall less than a metre away with footpath visible about 2m above floor level. Having waited for half an hour, at reception, to complain gave up and intend to raise a formal complaint to the Brittania Hotel group. This is my first ever review of a hotel and is offered as a warning to others who may be foolish enough to book into this hotel. (Anecdotally - having subsequently spoken to relatives living in Brighton, I am advised that the Hotel’s reputation is well known locally!)

A double room with breakfast for two was only £35 and it is in a good location. Good value if you get a room that doesn't smell of sewage. The hotel looks tired and in need of updating. The room we had smelt badly. Under different circumstances I would have asked to move but as I was in a rush to get out and meet some friends (we were delayed as the Police had closed local roads after shooting someone) I put up with it. Breakfast was depressing.

The breakfast buffet was excellent. Wide choice and nicely cooked and presented The room was freezing as none of the windows closed properly. No such thing as double glazing the net curtains were blowing in the wind. Location was very noisy on the saturday I stayed. Double glazing would help both these issues
