“ The hotel itself is very nice and elegant, more than we expected, it was our honeymoon trip and I must say we both enjoyed a lot. The trip was a wow to both of us and royal bath hotel will remain in our mind all the time. Very very pleased. ”

Drinks, sandwiches and afternoon cream teas are served in the relaxed Lounge. For their dining experience, guests can choose from the views at the Garden Restaurant, light meals at the Cafe Promenade or fine dining at Oscar’s, named after regular hotel guest Oscar Wilde. The Leisure Pavillion allows guests to relax in an indoor pool, hot tub or sauna. There is also a gym and a range of health and beauty treatments available. The staff that were on duty were extremely helpful, pleasant and friendly. They worked very hard to cover for so few. All staff to be praised. Lounge excellent despite steps. Beds extremely comfortable. Proximity to beach very good, Nice gardens. A very big hotel and lovely building needed more staff for comfort. Breakfast had everything anyone could possibly want, and then some!! Not disabled friendly, steps to every facility which we would not have booked if warned. Jacuzi out of action, too few staff, took 30minutes to be allocated a room. Room door had to be opened by staff each time as it stuck, wash hand basin plug system failed and unable to empty. Meal on first night in the only one of their 3 restaurants which was open was very poor, we were not offered desert or coffee and there were no staff to be seen anywhere. We had an 85 year old single lady with my husband and me and they could not even find a room on the same floor as us despite the booking being 3 months old.

There was a spa and the staff were very approachable During our visit the sauna and jacuzzi were out of order, the hotel didn't seem to be in any rush to fix this. We had a trainee at the check-in desk who didn't tell us how to find our room, we nearly went very wrong, but luckily ran into the porter before we got too lost. No one was manning the bar, but a young lad told us this was because someone hasn't turned up for work. When we got into our room it was clean, but the rubbish from the last tenant had been left on the side in the bathroom, I think this was the only thing the cleaning staff had missed, but it threw into question how clean the room really was

Because my mother, 99 years, could not get up 15 stairs to get to the lift, we were upgraded to a suite where she only had 3 stairs to negotiate. The first night, in Oscar's Restaurant, was appalling. I have never in my life come across such dreadful service. One waitress was worse than the others - when asked if we could order dessert, she constantly held up a finger and told us to "Wait a minute". A couple, waiting to be seated in the foyer to the restaurant were also told to wait a minute. The restaurant was a little more than one-half full - they were told to wait more than once and, after more than 20 mins, left. One group of diners left the hotel altogether, and almost every table complained about the service. The food wasn't great either. My mother and I ordered steak and ale pie - expecting the meat to have a covering of pastry. There was a tiny, square cube of puff pastry on top of the meat. There were not enough vegetables. And the icecream I ordered for dessert had melted - quite literally - by the time I was served. I could go on complaining. We won't go back.

The ambience in the hotel bar is super. The facilities in the spa also are very good. Breakfast was chaotic. Not enough staff and tables were left un-cleared. The staff also found it difficult to keep enough hot food available. People were left waiting and the queue built up terribly.

great location, friendly staff, good facilities We saw the ad for the hotel on booking.com it advertised complimentary parking but we had to pay £20 per night! The shower didn't work in our bathroom - unable to adjust temperature - water was too hot! and water pressure was terrible - just a fine mist of hot water! Room 237?

The views from the garden and dining room Decor was very tired and dated Staff at breakfast were inattentive and we sat through the whole of breakfast without being offered tea or coffee. Others around us had to keep hassling staff for it. Price of parking is over-excessive. Service itself in general did not make up for an old and tired hotel in a great location and fantastic building.

I loved the location and setting of the hotel. I liked the pool and leisure facilities. I thought the room was too expensive for the type of room we got. It looked tired and in need of some tlc. It had a massive damp patch on the ceiling, condensation all over the window blocking our 'sea view'. The breakfast was disorganised, no one clearing up plates. It took 10 minutes for someone to offer tea. We were shocked to be asked to pay a quid for a towel when we went swimming. Britannia have let a great hotel with a lovely location totally go down hill. It is disappointing to say that we were put off going again. We expected good service, to be made to feel special, but that service was lacking and the cost was far too expensive for all the corners Britannia are trying to cut. Our 4th and last visit. Our other 3 were with De Vere.

From the moment we arrived it was total chaos. The reception desk was under staffed and badly organised resulting in huge delays. Whilst waiting in the queue it became apparent that the people in front of us were not happy at all. One couple in front of us were complaining about the quality of their room and another group of three young guys had arrived to find that there room hadn't been reserved correctly. The two foreign girls behind the counter struggled valiantly to deal with all the complaints, their efforts mostly impeded by the need for an extra pair of hands to deal with all the complaints, but further hindered by the language and understanding barrier. It was apparent very quickly they were badly organised, hopelessly understaffed and run off their feet with complaints. There was another member of staff present, but he didn't seem very keen to help, this man simply milled about in the background wearing a suit, looking vaguely like a supervisor and was generally ineffectual. Once we had checked in we were directed to the porters desk, so that we could check our car in for the valet service. Of course, there was no one at the desk. Finally, a young lad appeared, who was rushed off his feet and not properly trained to do his job properly, he simply didn't know if the car park was full or not and spent most of his energy running back and forward, ignoring all the waiting customers, trying to establish the situation in the hotel's own carpark. Meanwhile the managerial looking man, continued to mill (it seems he was rather good at this at least). My husband gave up at this point and left me with the bags whilst he went to find alternative parking, all I had to do was find someone to help me to the room with the bags. This was not as easy as it seemed.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay her the view from the room was by far the best thing about my whole trip. The staff were all friendly. The breakfast was lovely and the pool, jacuzzi, sauna room Nd stem room were lovely. The garden was stunning. There was used sheets bottles and cups outside our room in the hall the whole time we stayed.

The hotel location is excellent and there are many attractive features, the gardens are beautiful and some of the décor was eye catching. The water was lovely and hot. The lounge area is well set out. We stayed in room 134 and found it to be rather a disappointment. Some of the furniture clearly needs replacing and in order to use the mirrors I had to use things to prop it into place as the hinges are broken. Personally we found the bed quite uncomfortable but that could be a personal preference. The shower screen could do with a deeper clean in the edges and corners. Attention to detail. In addition I suggest the car parking staff concentrate on the people in the order they arrive! The food was disappointing, the choice was very limited and a gateaux is a gateaux no matter how many ways its presented - it would have been nice to have seen some fresh fruit!

The bed was comfortable and the Tv had alot of channels, and the staff were friendly and the view of the gardens was nice. The room wasn't anything like what we thought we were going to get when we booked online. The shower was quite bad, the shower head didn't disperse the water very well, thought it would of been alot better for the hotel it was! In the morning our door was opened by a member of staff at 09:10 and we didn't have to be out of the room until 10:00, shortly after that power tools started going off in the hallway outside of the room, I would of thought that they would of waited until checkout time seeing as it was as early as 10:00. I am from Bournemouth myself but now live abroad, it was always a hotel I wanted to experience when I lived there, so when I was visiting I wanted to spend a night there and I was a little disappointed in the experience I had for the hotel that it is!

The hotel was lovely and very large but was a bit run down. There was no character in the hotel. The staff were few and far between - they were very overworked and very understaffed. The room walls were very thin and I didn't get much sleep from the couple in the next room as they were very noisy.
