“Fantastic family friendly hotel with large rooms and lots of space. We had a large double room with two extra camp beds put in and still had space to swing a cat or two!! The swimming pool area is lovely and although children are only allowed at certain times it is still very family friendly. Breakfast is great and again it is family friendly, my children were very pleased to be allowed to choose their own breakfast!”

Good location, friendly staff, good breakfast, spacious. Our room was cold - one of the windows would not shut/seal properly, the radiator hardly got warm! I was surprised that paying guests were expected to pay £20 a day to park at the hotel.

The staff tried their best, but as always, werent trained, but they tried. The breakfast was good, but so it should have been we had paid £428 for two rooms. The rooms were tired looking and at £228 per night, that isnt good enough, but they were clean. The food in the restaurant was very poor, and my meal was disgusting ! That shouldnt be at £20.80 for a supposed lamb with a herb crust, and I had to leave it. I am not fussy but felt deserving of edible food. As always, the dining room staff didnt understand they had a role in a customer's meal, and just carried on. The meal had to be taken away and they returned some 15 minutes later with a bowl of mashed potato, all too late my fellow diners had finished their meal and the occasion was very spoilt.

We have stayed at the Royal Bath before and would stay again. It's ideally located for the beach and shops and all the staff are delightful. The evening meals in the restaurant are excellent and there is a excellent choice of foods for breakfast.

Very overheated room with no ability to reduce temperature except open window onto noisy road. Wired internet connection annoying as connector kept falling out - need to update to WiFi!

Oscars is excellent. Chef should bs congratulated staff very attentive and polite garden lovely but would have been so nice to have Tablecloths for breakfast , it lifts a restaurant so much and hides all the little scratches on the tables We also frequently stay at The Grand Eastbourne and while I know The Grand is Five Srar The Barh has the same atmosphere and class about it in some ways to us it's better, I'm a comedian, film maker and writer and travel a lot, your hotel is very special and your staff Management structure seems smooth and to be working very well from a guests perspective . we always wonder which is the best rates to get the best deals for De Vere and how much 3 nights would cost in room 145? We were offered the room at a £10 upgrade on this occasion. Thank you for a very good stay Gavin Prime

Very smart, nice hotel. Was given a huge room! Very convenient location for sea views and for shopping. Nice bar and restaurant. Doesn't have it's own car park - you have to use the public one next door and, being Bournemouth, it's expensive. Difficult to criticise, but the plumbing is ancient and knocking pipework kept me awake nearly all night. Perhaps they heat the hotel at night on Economy7, I don't know. It will save them money but until they lag the pipework it disturbs guests. Handy tip - take earplugs with you!

The staff were very good. The breakfast was very good, but expensive. The room I stayed in was very shabby, the carpet had lots of dirt stain's, there was only three pillars, and very noisy, due to being next to the main road. this hotel is not luxury,it probably was along time ago, but not know. very over priced, the hotel needs a complete refurbishment.

The hotel is in need of a total re-furbish and I would not stay or recommend to anyone until a re-furbishment had taken place. The staff however were very proffesional and do the best they can but, I am sure they have to handle many complaints. This hotel is not value for money and I am afrraid it does not do the De Vere group any favours as I have stayine in many of their properties but I would think again after this experience.

We very much liked the resturant style, quite small but very nice, we spent a very nice evening with our daugther. Love the location of the hotel, we usually stay at the Chalton a bit further up. We had a delux sea veiw room, and although very comfortable and clean it did look a bit tired and could do with a re-furb.

Really enjoyed this hotel, have stayed in other De Vere hotels and we were not disappointed. Large clean room a little out dated but this didn't spoil our stay. Location excellent, staff very friendly, breakfast lots of choice, nice pool, small pool for the younger children. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday experience in Bournemouth and will be back later in the year hopefully at the Royal Bath

The hotel is in a fantastic location right between the gorgeous Bournemouth beaches and the shops and town center. The hotel is grand and luxurious with a feeling of stepping back in time. The afternoon tea in the lounge is a must for anyone wanting that extra special treat. I didn't like the fact that parking is available at the hotel but is charged at £20 a day! That makes an affordable stay at this lovely hotel quite expensive. Its a real shame that this hotel feels the need to charge. It may actually put a lot of people off staying here.

We have now stayed here a number of times over the past couple of years. It still has its nice comfortable feel, the staff are very good, and the breakfast is one of the best we have had, although it pays not to get in too late, otherwise you have to wait for food refurbishment. When you arrive, you just park by main entrance and book in, the porters park your car for you, nice touch. makes you feel important. Yes the hotel is in need of a makeover, It is a lovely building but needs \ bit of work. De-Vere are looking to sell, quite a shame, lets hope the new owners add the fresh look it needs. Just hope being a grade ii listed building they will not knock it down.

Th location and staff were excellent and the value was very good for what we got. A nice pool alongside the jacuzzi and steam room was a bonus. The hotel is a bit old fashioned and could do with a renovation. The lift was absolutely tiny and it was quite a long walk to get to our room as we were on the other side of the hotel. The gym was pretty small and the spa treatments were either non existent or not very well advertised.

“This was our first trip to The Cumberland Hotel. What a delight! The Hotel is decorated In Art Deco style in vibrant Red, Black,Silver and Glass...STUNNING!! They have soft music in the background that relate to the time of day, very nicely slotting in to the mood changes as the day moves to night..Clever - rather than the usual "elevator" style that a lot of Hotel tend to have. Our welcome first kicked in when we checked in at Reception. The Receptionist was lovely, very friendly and helpful. We had only booked for one night but was able to stay on for another night with no problem at all. We were early so she took our bags from us and we were able to explore the Hotel. We had a sandwich and drink by the pool which was brilliant! The pool was inviting and the set up outside with the seating and tables was really nice. Everywhere we walked, the staff looked up and smiled, genuine welcome smiles not the plastic aloof smiles that are in so many Hotels these days! We ate in the Hotel on both our evenings. The Brasserie Grill one night and the Mirabelle Restaurant the other. The meals that the Chef cooked were delicious. Presentation and taste sublime! Service was superb in both places. Our room was spotless and very comfortable with the only downside being that we are used to a King size bed so the Double for us was small! Next time we are going for the Sea View with Balcony with the Kingsize bed! Breakfast was delicious with the usual Buffet Style on offer. If you wanted Kippers or something that was not the usual Full English, you only had to ask! I was a bit disappointed in the selection of fruit on offer. The choice of Prunes, Grapefruit and Melon is a tad outdated. Lots of places that we have stayed have a larger variety on offer ie: Kiwi Fruit/ Melon Selection/ Bananas/ Grapes etc with more of a choice in Yoghurts too. There was bowl of fruit available. We are definitely going back to this Hotel, we cannot praise it enough!!” Gerald, Yateley |
