Score from 867 reviews Excellent
I received a very good offer for the 3 nights I spent at the hotel. I would be unlikely to pay the full price because the hotel requires updating. The breakfast is excellent.
The magnetic card keys are troublesome. But I was moved without fuss from room with old style latch not easily compatible with swipe key to a larger modernised room which had a new door.
Friendly and helpful staff, car parking facilities.
big rooms and corridors. Nice leisure complex.
The noise from the floorboards above our room. Charges for car park and leisure complex.
Room was very noisy from traffic on the main road. Would not recommend this if you need any sleep!
bar and lounge area is lovely and comfortable, sea view was great, leisure suite was a great extra
lovely building but rooms need updating. Bed was rock hard. Very poor signs to find our room. Reception didn't say anything other than to ask my name when I checked in no pointing out where anything was including our room. Swimming pool was freezing cold and needed cleaning. The shower was no better than using a watering can. The towel rail never got hot despite what the sign warned.
Staff were very friendly, lovely lounge/bar area. Excellent location however parking a nightmare.
Breakfast 5/10 Room (first room) 3/10 - was more liie a single room. We feel we were put in this room due to cheaper deal Room (second room) 9/10. Moved to this room due to constant dripping outside our room all night; however however when we went to reception the next morning no one seemed to know about the fact that our room was to be changed. Pool 6/10 Spa therapist & treatment 9.5/10 Spa facilities 4/10 Spa rooms 7/10 Spa receptionist 5/10
near to town and front
dogs left in room to wine on several days
Convenient for amenities (shops, theatre, cinema & sea front) Food good Room good Leisure facilities good...
Reception and car parking facility; breakfast; excellent view from room
Bathroom decoration and facilities; mould alongside bath partially covered by white sealant is one example of many unacceptable features. Room itself needed upgrading. Whole hotel looks tired and outdated.
Staff on the door and reception were excellent and really went the extra mile.
The room was very disappointing. The shower strength was too low to be of any use, the bathroom smelled of cigarettes, the only window was a skylight with no curtain so we were woken by daylight at dawn, the door did little to block the noise from the corridor so we heard the lift beeping every time it reached our floor followed by the mechanical voice announcing 'doors closing'. Then at 8.30 am, housekeeping knocked at the door to ask if we wanted our room making up! We were only staying one night! Service at breakfast was without smiles. Tea and coffee was of an industrial quality.
Central location within walking distance of everything. Buffet breakfast which was included in the room price was varied and good. The room we had was down on the ground floor and spacious enough. We did not have dinner at the hotel but the buffet meal looked really good value for money.
Room furniture was old and could be updated. Floorboards creaked badly both in our room and the room above. Car parking is an issue, you either pay the £20 hotel valet parking or you take your chance in finding a spot in the car park next to the hotel, or just opposite, which is £12.50 for 24 hours, but even that was not entirely clear. Beware as parking attendants are very hot on checking parking ticket times. Overall the hotel has become jaded and dated with time and needs to be updated, but then again this is some of its charm.
Sea view with good size room
Leisure facilities were supposed to be included but they were asking for a £4 charge per person
The position of the hotel is fantastic. Breakfast was good.
Paying £5 to use the leisure club -this should be included in the price. Professionalism and demeanour of staff was not consistent - some were great but others were slow, unhelpful and miserable!
The hotel was excellently situated with easy access to the seafront, gardens and town centre. We used the parking service which was great and we enjoyed the comfort of the lounge bar which was a great place to sit and ehjoy a drink.
The service could be erratic both in the bar and at breakfast and the bedroom was a bit small but overall we enjoyed our stay
Doorknob very hard to turn.
The room The staff
the grandeur of the hotel and the location were good
there was only two thin pillows on bed. the towels were paper thin and not enough of them. No dressing gowns??? tv was minute. got locked out of room as the key card would not work. the young bar man in the large bar did not know what he was doing and he was alone.....
Hotel is very dated. Didn't get the room we booked on arrival. Additional charge to use the swimming pool. Bath towels far too small and rough as anything. Room plain, furniture dated.
The view from our room. The breakfast and Oscar's restaurant was very good. The gym, swimming pool and jaccuzi were great after walking around and shopping.
We could hear neighbour's next door. Also a pump noise from upstairs.
I didn`t like windows close to the main road.
Looking for a weedend off to relax and put your mind out of work we enjoyed the hotel and the spa facilities a lot, the staff was amazingly helpful and really nice. Highly recommended!
Great location, excellent value
The location was perfect. The room was clean. The breakfast was good.
The room was small and not really easy to find. We made the mistake to come on a Saturday night when there was a jazz boogie live band playing (we didn't know)... our room was very close to the concert room so we still had music after midnight. The sound isolation of the room was poor.
the hotel has dropped it standards the rooms was small the bathroom I had to use a glass to fill the kettle as the sink was as big as a minute. I would not stay at the hotel ever again it was disgusting.
Room - booked as 'Deluxe'. Like a converted broom cupboard. Flimsy door let all the noise through. All room space taken up by (comfortable) bed. No luggage space, single wardrobe (full of ironing board). En suite with bath large enough for a small hobbit. View from window - Dirty back yard with air-con units from other rooms. No aircon working in room. Hot airless and stuffy. Have to pay extra to use pool facilities.
