The room The staff
the grandeur of the hotel and the location were good
there was only two thin pillows on bed. the towels were paper thin and not enough of them. No dressing gowns??? tv was minute. got locked out of room as the key card would not work. the young bar man in the large bar did not know what he was doing and he was alone.....
Hotel is very dated. Didn't get the room we booked on arrival. Additional charge to use the swimming pool. Bath towels far too small and rough as anything. Room plain, furniture dated.
The view from our room. The breakfast and Oscar's restaurant was very good. The gym, swimming pool and jaccuzi were great after walking around and shopping.
We could hear neighbour's next door. Also a pump noise from upstairs.
I didn`t like windows close to the main road.
Looking for a weedend off to relax and put your mind out of work we enjoyed the hotel and the spa facilities a lot, the staff was amazingly helpful and really nice. Highly recommended!
Great location, excellent value
The location was perfect. The room was clean. The breakfast was good.
The room was small and not really easy to find. We made the mistake to come on a Saturday night when there was a jazz boogie live band playing (we didn't know)... our room was very close to the concert room so we still had music after midnight. The sound isolation of the room was poor.
the hotel has dropped it standards the rooms was small the bathroom I had to use a glass to fill the kettle as the sink was as big as a minute. I would not stay at the hotel ever again it was disgusting.
Room - booked as 'Deluxe'. Like a converted broom cupboard. Flimsy door let all the noise through. All room space taken up by (comfortable) bed. No luggage space, single wardrobe (full of ironing board). En suite with bath large enough for a small hobbit. View from window - Dirty back yard with air-con units from other rooms. No aircon working in room. Hot airless and stuffy. Have to pay extra to use pool facilities.
It was a particular pleasure to be in a hotel like the good family hotels from our youth: spacious public rooms (including a a large lounge with views of the large garden and the sea), and wide corridors, and high ceilings. It was good to have two chairs in the bedroom (nowadays hotels often have only one) Pleasant, welcoming and helpful staff. Excellent value for money.
Breakfast, though plentiful and tasty, would have been better hot rather than just warm.
Not enough help in getting wheelchair up and down steps. No one ever around Not disabled friendly i am afraid.
Very clean, comfortable, good breakfast
Felt as we were in a wing for workers. All we wanted to do after a long working day was relax but the tv's were limited to a few channels on an evening.
Food was poor.
Nice room large flat screen TV and nice big bath you can relax in
Pillows very hard, could do with softer pillows
I loved this hotel, old fashioned, squeaking wooden floors, grand lobby, superb bed and room with park side and sea view. Excellent breakfast and WiFi. The first and oldest hotel in town. What a treat! I will come back with my wife. I was upgraded!!!
Location and all the staff were Brilliant.
Loved the location Staff very friendly and helpful Had a standard room which was clean and had everything we needed
Breakfast was ok but no fried bread which I look for as only have it on my hols
Location to beach and shops.
I loved everything about the Hotel from arrival to leaving. Love the Porters there who help with car luggage Elderly Mother. Special requests were all completed. Food, service, rooms, leisure club, and location with best sea views. all so good. Very friendly caring staff and barstaff in this Hotel. Will always go back to stay here now. Thanks for a great weekend. X
Hotel was clean , tidy and well located. The staff were friendly and helpful . Food was lovely and good value for money. Definitely recommend this hotel.
The only problem we had was the card/key system which made the door difficult to open. Also there was no mention of the charges to use the pool and leisure facilities.
Helpful staff, handy parking, (although had to pay extra for the parking at the hotel), lovely pool and leisure facilities.
The locarion is excellent gary the security man extremely helpful
The floorboards creak in the bedrooms and are quite noisy if they were fixed would be a lot bettet
