Royal Cambridge Hotel  

Unfortunately, the only good thing about the Royal Cambridge is some of the staff. They were very friendly and helpful in trying to resolve the number of problems we experienced during our 2 night stay.

We stayed at the Royal Cambridge Oct 3-4, 2011. It really is a extremely poor hotel that is dirty, rundown and in need of extensive repair and update. There wee six of us so we had three rooms. Each of us had to change rooms after the first night for various reasons. And the new rooms were barely better than the originals. Both the rooms and the common areas of the property are really quite disgusting. We experienced things such as bad odors, mold throughout the bathrooms and rooms, carpet wore down to the bare floors, water leaks and just in general a dirty and poorly kept hotel. Certainly not worth the 80 pounds a night we paid. I would seriously recommend removing them from your website until they can prove that they have made some improvements. It makes you both look bad.

Excellent staff and a small refund made up partly for no TV and a radiator permanently on the top setting. The female receptionist couldn't do enough though - moved my room, and generally extremely apologetic. Breakfast very poor.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We were a little worried after reading some of the comments about the hotel but I must say we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was small but clean, staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast could have been better but again it is London there are 100 places within 5 minutes where you can get breakfast. So a nice inexpensive hotel within walking distance of oxfort streed (5 minutes from the subway) I think some of them who write avoid has a unrealistic idea of ​​what you get at a cheap 3 star hotel in London. If you want a better hotel you have to pay more. If you just want a cheap place to sleep pick this one.

Just that breakfast limited a bit and lift broke down but it was on day we were leaving so didn't mind that much.

Good overall, nice breakfasts, staff polite and sometimes friendly.

The bed was the best service of the hotel. The hotel expect my expectations because of the price and the location.

The shower could be cleaner.

Staff seemed completely indifferent to the guests with a couldn't care less attitude. The whole place was very noisy, all the doors banged as there were no door closers and it kept us awake all night. Long black hairs on the floor in the shower room. Unwatchable TV picture plus when you walked around the sound went completely, couldn't even fill our kettle in the morning as it wasn't physically possible to get it under a tap. Just a total joke, made Fawty Towers look like heaven, couldn't wait to leave, please avoid!

Staff were friendly and helpful, easy to get to location 2 minutes from Paddington underground, plenty of food options near by. Surprisingly spacious room, good tv and drink making facilities. Also not as noisy as I expected.

The breakfast was terrible, there was very limited choice, not really a continental breakfast (one type of cheese and plain bread, beans and boiled egg, 2 plain cereals and peaches. Jam and drinks.) toaster was available if you wanted to wait half an hour for it to toast the bread. Very small and cramped breakfast room. Staff at breakfast did not appear to do anything except fill up milk and juices. Overall the worst breakfast ive had in a b+b style hotel. Also there was no hairdryer in the bedroom. There is no fridge in room or ability to chill/store foods on the premises

Budget hotel, you get what you pay for. Room was clean, staff were friendly and the value for money was good.

Desperately in need of refurbishment. Stayed in a so called triple room - not even large enough for a double. Three beds were pushed together with no floor space to get between them. Moved one of the beds - full of rubbish underneath. No mirror in bedroom. One coffee sachet for three people! . Bathroom shabby - in fact most of hotel was. Threadbare carpets. Unwelcome breakfast staff - poor breakfast. No manager present when asked for to complain to. Avoid this hotel if you can.
