Unfortunately, the only good thing about the Royal Cambridge is some of the staff. They were very friendly and helpful in trying to resolve the number of problems we experienced during our 2 night stay. We stayed at the Royal Cambridge Oct 3-4, 2011. It really is a extremely poor hotel that is dirty, rundown and in need of extensive repair and update. There wee six of us so we had three rooms. Each of us had to change rooms after the first night for various reasons. And the new rooms were barely better than the originals. Both the rooms and the common areas of the property are really quite disgusting. We experienced things such as bad odors, mold throughout the bathrooms and rooms, carpet wore down to the bare floors, water leaks and just in general a dirty and poorly kept hotel. Certainly not worth the 80 pounds a night we paid. I would seriously recommend removing them from your website until they can prove that they have made some improvements. It makes you both look bad.

What didn't I like about the place and why I won't stay there again! One positive factor - the room was quite large. Book in time was 2pm. I arrived a little before 2pm and gave the receptionist a £5 tip but requested she text me when my room was ready, as I was running late for a business meeting and needed the room to drop my bags. No text was forthcoming. At 2.15pm I went back to the hotel to see what was up. Without any acknowledgement, the receptionist handed me the key to my room, obviously forgetting the request I had made and the tip for the courtesy. This one must get tipped quite frequently. Once in the room one notices that the bed is so far away from the minute tv hanging on the wall at the other end of the room you may as well be listening to a radio. But, then you realise, the television is so far away, you can't even pick up the sound on the damn thing either! Let it be known this room has a problem with it's sewerage pipes. I let the receptionist know (the same girl from the day before, so who knows if she actually did anything) that the bathroom absolutely wreaked of an extremely foul sewerage smell that also emanated into the main bedroom, even if you closed the bathroom door and could very easily be a health hazard. It was terribly nauseating. I stayed in room 202, so I do not know whether it was just this room or the entire building with a similar pipe problem. This hotel is far from great and certainly does not live up to it's £99 tariff. I will not be returning.

Friendly personal, close to Oxford street The room was cleaned only after our request, the breakfast was poor and not "continental" at all. Do not expect anything from "superior" room - more like hostel than hotel.

the location is fine and there are opportunities to park your car either on the hotel parking spaces (which have been reserved for some not known guests although we have first been told that no upfront reservations are possible), or on the parking slots of the neighbouring hotels which also offer some parking spaces for the same money (10 £ per night which is very reasonable). The breakfast was a typical UK low cost breakfast with beans, some ugly sausages, boiled eggs, cornflakes and jam for toasts. The breakfast was the best thing (besides the location) in the hotel... the staff was friendly. The hotel is rubbish. An awful nightmare for those who expect it to be a "hotel". The rooms are old, very old and ugly. We had a room in the cave with no windows! The bathroom was dirty and full of black mold! The temperature of the water in the shower did not satisfy a reasonable demand for hot water. We have even found a small box with poison against rats behind the table in the room. However, if you only use the hotel as a sleeping area after an exhausting sightseeing and partying, then it might be fine although way to expensive for the "quality" offered.

There is absolutely nothing good about Royal Cambridge Hotel. We were verily disappointed at what we saw on ground campared to what we saw on the Internet. We really regreted ever booking the Hotel. It was nothing to write home about. It was nothing close to a 3 Star Hotel, we don't know how on Earth it was rated a 3 Star, the Hotel is a write off and a total Disappointment. We don't recommend it to anyone.

The staff were friendly, but we didn't use the breakfast option as we preferred to stay in bed. The room was cosy and big and the bathroom was a decent size. The only thing was the tv was to far away from the bed so you couldn't read what you were watching and the drain in the bathroom a little sewer smell was coming through

The location is excellant for those wishing to go shopping at Oxford Street as it is just 10mins walk. Also paddington Station is just 5mins walking distance from the Hotel. Reception staff is so friendly and helpful especially one young lady... she was so sweet with us. Regarding the cleanliness of the room, I must say that the sheets were really white and clean. This is most important for me. Also, central heating is just perfect. The breakfast could have been much better. Just cereal, boiled eggs, baked beans, sausages and toast! A wider selection would give visitors a much better impression of the hotel, after all it is not veryyy cheap. Moreover, room attendents do not do their work properly, just lay the bed and thats it. Not even placing two more bath soaps for the evening or pick up any papers from the floor!!!

The Royal Cambridge is far from being a luxury hotel of course, but it is extremely well situated, very affordable and with a friendly staff. My single room was small but comfortable and warm in January. I did enjoy my stay and would certainly consider staying there again in the future.

Very kind helpful staff, nothing at all to complain about the hotel, ... Breakfast is not as shown on this site. Intercontinental breakfast, we had our breakfast all days in my favourite restaurant on the road

The hotel is close to the Shopping Haven I.e the Oxford Circus. It is infact a walking distance to shopping area. Apart from that, for Muslim, there are quite a number of halal restaurants around the area.

The Room I had was nice and clean and was just a nice size. I did not like the fact that on two occasions the reception was left unmanned especially when they ask you to leave your key when you go out. I had to wait 10-15 minutes to be seen to on arrival and a further 5 minutes to hand my key in when I left. I thought as they provide you with the pin to enter the front door on the booking conformation. That this was a serious security issue.
