The location. A pleasant & comfortable room with fridge & hot drinks facilities. A lovely breakfast in light, spacious surroundings. A beautiful building with old world charm and an impressive entrance hall.
no dislikes we've booked to go again!
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, we definitely will be making more visits to the hotel.
Breakfast was s little well done. Apart from that we loved it
lovely hotel nice and central for a lovely walk around scarbourgh castle and parks hotel nice and clean and warm and good food
We are a family if four and We stopped in the gordon suite which was very nice the kids enjoyed being able to lay in bed and watch tv and us adults had our own room . We had a good view from our window . The hotel was decorated lovely for christmas, breakfast was good too .
Parking is a problem
Did not like the first room we was given too small chairs was dirty and stains on carpet, view was backyard of other property, asked to be moved we got a bigger room and sea view still would not have given it 10/10 for cleanliness but alot better than the first.
Beautiful hotel, beautifully decorated for Christmas. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Good value food, great value for money.
Only downside was that the heating was turned off early evening making the room quite chilly. The shower could have done with being a bit warmer too ( and a bit more power!)
The check in was quick , the room was comfortable and great breakfast. Will stay again in future.
Nothing to dislike.
I can imagine it being very lovley without the Christmas decorations but my little 4yr old thought it fab as did I. .He loved cleaning his boots on the shoe shine .. had a great view out to sea .. It makes the grand look very dowdy as we stayed there an i can assure you all the staff an the royal hotel were brilliant .. We will be back. ..
No complaints .. oh maybe pool to be a little warmer ..
First visit to the hotel and will definitely go back Lovely staff nice food and clean room. Recommend it
location, entrance hall, pool and bar area amazing
staff and customer service was poor... lifts and sauna/hot tub out of order
Shower not working
breakfast was brilliant thank you even though we only stayed over night
The welcome we received from the receptionist was warm and welcoming.
Having to eat in freezing cold restaurant Christmas party dinner - when asked if heating could be put on was told guests complained last night too warm. Explained we were shivering and not enjoying what should have been party nothing done continued to stick with it till hypothermia set in went back to room and put on dressing gown over clothes to warm up. Explained this to manager in morning who seemed to find it amusing middle aged people freezing in restaurant on special occasion. Needless to say won't be returning.
Convenient location.Nice and warm and cosy.
Our room had a sea view but the noise from party revellers with taxies etc meant we never slept on either night that we stayed. The hotel is looking very tired and in dire need of refurbishment. The food was very average compared to our last stay.
The food in the Royal was very good.
When we booked in we could not park the car, we had to ride round till we found a space on the road not good. When we got to the suit it was filthy not being cleaned at all. There was a big watermark on the ceiling, moving on, we had to report to staff that there was water coming through. They offered us not another room but another hotel. The Grand hotel, no way. The first night we had to go and eat at the grand hotel because the restaurant was fully booked in our hotel. This was very poor food indeed, what an experience i will not forget.
every thing very good
price of drinks
my wife's company
been told when booking in could only have evening meal at 8 45pm when got down was shown into a poky little room with only 7 other people in eating they even took away the Christmas crackers of the table bah humbug scrooge lives on
Lovely entrance, lounges and reception area. Comfortable room and bed.
Too busy at breakfast. Staff had trouble keeping up with the clearing of tables.
the theatre bar is still closed. its a gem and really intimate and cosy ...bring it back.
The location was ideal for what I wanted.
Lack of staff when needed
Bed was quite small this time we stayed but normaly ok
Room was large, big flat screen TV and comfortable bed.
Food was poor, pity, as we will not be going back due to this. Booked half board and ended up going to M&S for sandwiches for the evening meal. We were not the only ones who did not like the food.
I liked the surroundings and the ambience of the hotel upgraded room was excellent mostly enjoyed our stay
upon arrival found no lights working in our room, reported it immediately was told electrician would be there within the hour however after 4 hours and no repair forthcoming we asked to be moved to another room this was agreed upon by the reception worker however when he went to get us another key he then took an incoming phone call and completely ignored us and left us standing another member of staff when finished with her customer attended to us and apologised and upgraded our room to a suite for which we were grateful however we felt the actions of the first staff member was rude and not very professional. And to add it did take us several attempts to get someone to believe that the lights weren't working. Also the entertainment on the Friday night was awful and only lasted half an hour.
The staff were unpleasant. The spa, which we had to pay to use was disgustingly filthy, steam room and spa bath out of order and scolding hot water being fed into the pool via a hosepipe which you could walk up against. We requested our 4 rooms together... They were spread over 3 floors. To access our room we had to pass through piled up furniture. The breakfast the next morning was all running low with jams and spreads smeared all over the place, disgusting. All very unhappy and disgusted. Will never recommend or step foot in this place again. Beautiful old hotel run down to a complete mess.
We was given a lovely spacious room on the front. The hotel was beautiful and all decorated for Christmas. Excellent location.
I went with a friend so booked a twin room. The beds were together but we didn't mind. We had a giggle about it.
