Situated on the edge of the Durham Dales, Bee Cottage Farm Guest House features stunning views over the countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Score from 17 reviews Fabulous
In the heart of Durham's city centre, within easy reach of the A1 and less than 500 metres from the castle and the train station, this modern hotel offers great value and spacious, modern rooms.

The Old Mill is set in the countryside 2 miles outside Consett and surrounded by woodland.

The radiator in the room was extremely noisy so every time the heating came on it woke me up. I could also hear everything going on in the room above.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Gorgeous country house set in a lovely area. Great facilities, helpful staff, lovely food.
I was given a room in the newly refurbished annex. My spirits were quite low on arrival, but when I entered the room my heart sank even further. The décor was purple and the room illuminated by 40W bulbs. The bed was covered with black cushions that had to be placed on the floor thereby restricting access to the window. The alcove where the wardrobe was located had no means of lighting. The hand basin in the bathroom was narrow and the cupboard above prevented one leaning forward while cleaning ones teeth resulting in tooth paste being sloped on the floor, if not on ones pyjamas. I am just under 11 stone in weight. Anyone of greater weight would not get into the shower. In refurbishing the building too much has been forced into too small a place. There is no lounge for residents to sit quietly to read a book either in the annex or the main hotel, though I was informed there is to be a refurbishment of the main hotel.
My dinner a dissappointment, but impressed with the way they managed to accomodate my eccentric brothers dinner request. Breakfast however was very good.
Ambience, comfort and coutryside
We will use this hotel again when needing to visit the area
Sound proofing between rooms not too good. Not too keen on self service breakfast as it was not topped up regularly.

Lovely room and facilities
We stayed on valentines weekend on checking in we didn't get told about any of the facilities which were available or where restaurant /pub were, any safety information or how to order breakfast in bed if there was even an option. No glass in room for drinks of water or even told if water was drinkable from taps in room for kettle provided. Had tv in room but no remote to be seen until we were leaving as packing. Would of loved to be notified on conformation that we has a shower facilitie and not bath as room description stated. As weren't informed if could have breakfast in bed with bed being so comfortable and relaxing weekend missed breakfast so can't leave comment on that.
Room was lovely, nice big comfortable bed, well lay out spacious room, with a hot powerful power shower. Bar/pub had a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, very helpful staff. Would definitely stay again if few things were changed. Excellent location so peaceful and amazing views.
We cant think of anything we didnt like
We arrived on a cold winters day, the hotel was so warm and inviting equally matched by our welcome and friendliness of all of the staff. We only stayed 1 night (not long enough) had a fabulous meal in the bar. The bedroom was very comfortable, loved the two armchairs so much nicer to relax in. Sorry we could not stay longer and explore the surroundings but will certainly stay again
Doors banging early morning 6am onwards, Adjoining rooms made hearing hairdryer and tv was heard from next door, Mixed up booking, I booked 2 rooms a double and a twin for myself, Wife, Daughter, Son and 1 year old Grandaughter. when I checked out i was down for single ocupancy? this is a problem with this booking site not the hotel
Location was spot on Rooms were large spacious and warm Bath and shower supplied along with heated towel rail. Large TV in room and tea/coffee facilities Pool, Sauna and Gym (didnt use)
Couldn't get wi fi in cottage, but as the cottage had just been refurbished, I think it's a work in progress.
Accidental double booking of our 2 rooms meant we were upgraded at no extra charge to a 3 bed cottage which was beautiful - recently refurbished - totally luxurious - 6ft beds....the lot :)
Sauna was cold
Comfortable Large Bedroom Good Breakfast
