Relaxing. Comfortable and large room. Hotel was clean and looked very attractive. Had to wait at least 10 minutes to be served at the bar. 1 guy, serving food, making coffee and taking orders. Needed more staff, however, he was very polite. The food (roast beef meal) was obviously microwaved and very disappointing. Breakfast, I had to wait too long to be seated. Only edible thing on the cooked breakfast was the egg! The bacon and sausage were poor quality and had been cooked for a long time. The bread was stale and dry, but when I pointed this out they replaced it with fresh. Not enough staff, or attention to detail.

The view from our room was beautiful, especially when there was a hard frost in the morning. Our room was large and comfortable. The breakfast on Sunday morning was waitress service not a buffet which I would have preferred. The television was small and dated and too low down to be viewed from one of the beds.

This Hotel proved to be value for money and fit for purpose, where I found the accomodation clean, tidy, and of excellent condition. The staff were pleasant, thoughtful and curtious in all transactions. The location was very satisfactory with all necessary ammenities to suit me. I will choose this hotel again when in the Consett area. No complaints or negative findings.

The location is lovely with all the countryside surrounding the hotel. The wifi was a nightmare to connect to and the hotel is very dated, needs a refurb and modernising all over especially the bedrooms.

The general design and appearance was first class. Obviously a fantastic re-build had taken place. It had a very attractive style and was an interesting place to stay. The Spa being "remote" from the main building. Not very accommodating in cold or bad weather. The first room allocated had a bad smell in the bathroom. We moved and in the second room the Central Heating did not work. The shower was very week and quiet cool.

The service in the restaurant bar was poor, very slow and not that busy. My rare steak was well done, but I was tired and had waited quite sometime so on this occasion didn't complain

Having stayed at this hotel a number of times we have no hesitation in re-booking and it is convenient when visiting family in Consett. The staff are always friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. A well run hotel and a welcome change to buffet style breakfast. Fruit, cereal, juice and toast is self-service, but main breakfast chosen off a menu and served to your table. Myself and my mother were staying in a double room as this was cheaper than a twin. On arrival we were offered a free upgrade. Thank you Derwent Manor

The room we had was a suite which we paid more for, however it didnt have a window you could look out of. It was a large box room, it have to ceiling windows which you needed a pole to open . the landing light was on a timer which was very loud.the landing light also lit our bedroom up . there was a wedding on the night we stayed so guess came to bed about 3am . they put the landing light on and with the light and timer waking us up .we could here everything they were say even when they were in their own room.

My husband and I stayed at the Derwent Manor as we had a Birthday party to attend in Consett, the hotel was clean, the room was well equipped and the staff were helpful (even when we went downstairs to book a taxi in 80's fancy dress) will definately go back to same hotel
