Really friendly staff. Good restaurant. Very welcoming and cosy. Rowdy residents in room close to ours. Didn't get much sleep on the Friday night of our stay. But cant really blame the hotel for that.

Excellent breakfasts. Selection of bars.. Comfy bed...very helpful staff.. Good location for beach., We had very noisey front room overclub which shut at 2.00am... Also facing roundabout.. Wonder if because cheaper online booking! woken twice in early hours by fire alarm being set off from club/ private fuction... offered 20%discount off next visit, should have been taken off this visit as I have ill health and may not get back there again...staff very pleasant while dealing with complaint.. be prepared for very young cliental Fri/Sat at open bars - but gave jolly atmosphere not place for quiet drink!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Sadly the evening meal we had in the restaurant did not come up to expectations, we felt it was over priced for the quality of the meal, although the cooked breakfast was excellent.

Polite staff nothing to much trouble clean rooms , comfy bed Well asked for a smoking room and the first room offererd on entering smelt like a ash tray I suppose thats what I asked for but last time I had a smoking room it smelt fresh on entering, and it was summer so smoked out the window anyway ,the room was at the top of the house and acctually didnt think that room was worth the money , bad reception on the telly bad angle to watch it felt dingy, anyway like I said my fault its just I smoke out side most of the time and didnt want to sleep in that smell, but asked to be moved and you gave me a non smoking room and that was fab ,and it will teach me not to be lazy next time lol but hasent put me off, really like the hotel and staff

Friendly staff and nice clean room. Evening meal was delicious and the option of a full english breakfast was included in the price making it very good value for money. Had my all time favourite dessert, creme brulee but whilst it was cooked properly and tasted lovely, it wasn't set...disappointing ;(

I have stayed before I like the location and very much enjoy the food in the 1812 Restaurant and the entertainment in the Bar also the rooms are very well maintained. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and relatives. Unfortunately this time the breakfast was not up to the standard of our previous visits it was quite cold and we had to wait for the toast and tea.

I last stayed at the hotel around 8 yrs ago prior to its refurbishment. The restaurant and bar areas are greatly improved. Large open space in the bar area. Nice relaxed atmosphere. The room I was allocated had a strong smell of cooking as it was located above the kitchen area. I am sure that other rooms away from that area are perfectly ok. Reception staff could drastically improve their welcome. No questions asked with regards how the guest has found their stay, etc. Paint work / wallpaper a bit tatty in places, both room and public areas. Could do with basic touch up.

On arrival we were greeted in very friendly manner by reception, she highlighted all facilities within hotel... 1812, bar so, restuarant & sauna/jaccuzzi..we had asked for quiet room & got exactly that!! After going to room we were due to meet-up with some family in 1812 then go for meal....however, we could have quite easily stayed in the bar. So relaxing.. Also, we were attending concert at bic on sat, easy to get to doesn't cover that... Breakfast great(raw sausage apart) would stay again..... Unfortunately, our show leaked from under base...wet floor!! Also, we found unusually, no cooked breakfast was available in room service????

Large hotel in a good location. Bedroom was large and well furnished with a good sized en-suite. Full English breakfast was made to order and tasted good as was the continental selection of foods. Although the bar was large and modern it was chilly and dark and the drinks were over-priced for the quality (eg. The wine and flat coke). Pillows were hard and uncomfortable feather pillows. Should at least supply one soft pillow to cater for all preferences.

I chose the hotel mainly because of the location: I was attending a concert at the bic which is across the road. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was fine. There was adequate parking (at least there were spaces when I arrived at 7.30pm). There was noise from the two bars downstairs in the early evening but it wasn't really a problem. Somewhere in the shower cubicle to put soap/shampoo, etc would be a good idea, especially as the sink in my room was in the bedroom. I ordered breakfast in my room and it would have been nice to have had the option of having it a little later (the service ended an hour before the breakfast service in the dining room). These are minor gripes however and the hotel is good value.

“Fantastic family friendly hotel with large rooms and lots of space. We had a large double room with two extra camp beds put in and still had space to swing a cat or two!! The swimming pool area is lovely and although children are only allowed at certain times it is still very family friendly. Breakfast is great and again it is family friendly, my children were very pleased to be allowed to choose their own breakfast! ” Agnes, Reading |
