Score from 1346 reviews Very good
Staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Breakfast was out standing. Secure parking. Short walk to town and beach.
Bathroom a little worn out but very clean.
Great location and lovely room. Great breakfast and lovely staff.
We were warned by reception but it was noisy and the room was so hot we had to leave window open.
Staff were all very good and had a good group on downstairs in evening
Prices of drinks in evening were way over priced
Old floppy pillows
It's a lovely Edwardian/Victorian hotel. The room was clean and tastefully decorated.
Pointless paying for a room to sleep in. If you wanted somewhere to crash at about 2am in the morning after a skinful and a kebab, then yes, it would be perfect. For families or business on a weekend, find somewhere else otherwise expect to be up all night.
Good location great food
We liked the two good bars, the happy hour cocktails, the short walk to the shops or the beach. We liked the breakfast, one of the best we have had. On site parking.
dining room staff and the breakfasts were superb.
the evening resident menu was a little boring and two nights it was unchanged.
Helpful staff good breakfast convenient location
half-board dinner menu very limited and virtually the same every day
The hotel was positioned about 5 mins from both the beach, the pier and the town centre. It was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room wasn't the biggest we had stayed in but it had everything we needed including peace and quiet for a good nights sleep.
The only problem we had was with the half board menu which only had 3 or 4 main course options and was the same each night. When we complained we were offered (at no extra cost) the fixed price 3 course dinner menu that was far better. I would suggest offering, for hotel guests staying for more than 1 night, the better menu with more variety.
Excellent location for the BIC, which was the reason for our visit to Bournemouth. We are back to see another show in November and definitely be booking into the Exeter again.
Loved the spa facilities
No air conditioning and the room was hot
Food fantastic great quality but if staying on a bed / breakfast and Evening meal basis, breakfast great but evening meal not enough variations on the standard guest menus.
Noise from bar area below
No Budweiser in the bars
Toilet was full of poo and had not been cleaned sheets were grubby
Great location, on site parking, breakfast excellent
Parking arrangement very tight for modern executive cars which is what filled their car park. Whilst the room was good value it was dated
The bar staff were great; helpful, good local knowledge and they seemed to take pride in providing a good service. The location is good and it's cheap if you book in advance.
The hotel staff gave the impression of either not caring or simply being unaware that they are there for the guests. When we arrived 4 staff were behind the desk; none of whom jumped at the chance to check us in. Bad start. The bed was poor and the room tired. A shame because there are some striking and grand parts of the hotel. Bit all the lights worked and the TV was small by modern standards.
Good value Beautiful old hotel
Not comes to mind
Friendly staff. Helpful in booking in and helped me by carrying my bag up to my room. Comfortable clean room. I had asked for a fridge and this was provided without any fuss.
Car Parking: difficult to get in as on mini- roundabout and you have to drive across the pavement. Then barrier. But.... no access from car park to hotel other than to climb the steep slope with luggage. Certainly not for people with walking difficulties. Breakfast OK but not brilliant. Waited a while to order my cooked breakfast, probably because I was a solo traveller, whilst other tables had several people on them.
I only came fir one night but would come back for a longer stay
Really good breakfast, very spacious room with a large bed, staff very helpful
Decor was a little dated
everyone was helpful from the breakfast staff to the barmen very good hotel, clean and a very good location we were warned about possible noise but we were not disturbed at all
water pressure !
I like old building and history , a good value hotel
I know of its noisy location and bars round I found it to crowded to the main entrance and noisy to sleep ,
Excellent location, friendly staff, very comfortable room and a lovely breakfast
