Accommodation good, clean but basic
Go for the superior if you can afford it and have a pet, likely to get the ground floor rooms with a small fenced garden... Excellent for the dog
Great all round experience.
Excellent bar meals especially as they were two for £10.99. Everything was great.
Room very spacious & comfortable. Fantastic breakfast. Friendly service. Relaxing environment.
Very nice room, also the restaurant and the bar on location was a bonus. Food in the restaurant was really wonderful, ordered things you would find on a fine-dining menu (although the fish and chips looked good). The breakfast was also very nice and included in the price.
Prices high for drinks, and service was not up to the standard of the food. We waited for service in the restaurant during our meal. I ordered a glass of the house prosecco, and was served a half full glass of flat wine. I sent it back, and clearly a new bottle was opened and was much better. I tried a few of the wines on the list, and one of them was off but I was told by the server to just add some soda to it. I was not wanting to make a fuss as I had already sent a beverage back, but I was not happy. Would I stay there again, yes I would, it really is a nice spot.
Staff Atmosphere Location
There are no local shops around and no public transport. Need a car to get the most of it. Obviusly this is not the hotel's fault.
dog room with own little garden good value meals nice receptionist and duty manager
Cosy room, dog friendly, good value, very reasonable bar food, friendly staff
A little clinical - it felyt like a wedding venue, rather than a cosy local
We enjoyed the stay.. I would recommend it. Great breakfast!
Poor lighting of the rooms, but nothing more
Good size room, huge comfortable bed. Had our evening meal in the bar, piping hot, tasty, reasonable value but it is standard chain food. Breakfast was excellent - buffet consisting of pastries, fruit, toast, cereals, juices, yoghurt etc plus a great selection of cooked food - full English, eggs benedict, kippers, scrambled egg & smoked salmon etc etc - and great service too. Would definitely recommend a stay here
Couldn't access the free Wi-Fi as you had to create an account but the next page wouldn't load - probably because I had no data signal ! That's about the only niggle we had
Varied and good choice for breakfast. 1st night we had fish and chips, presentation was lovely and food piping hot, 2nd night food not so good. Salmon and hunter's chicken. Staff helpful and attentive
Room 19, large cracks in sink. Poor decorating, plug sockets covered in paint. Poor standard of re-painting of the room. Dreaded shower curtain Bath size very small Bed very squeaky
Really nice hotel and lovely stay close to Cheltenham and a number of great walks. Excellent breakfast and nice bar/restaurant area.
Nothing is a really good hotel at an excellent price
I liked the hotel itself, it has a lovely entrance and nice feel to it. The staff were very nice and friendly but totally overworked.
I didnt like having to wait an hour for a 'snack lunch' in the bar area and then 1.5 hours for breakfast the following day. On return from a day out (we were out from 11am until 4.30pm) our rooms had still not been cleaned.
Everything was good but nothing was excellent
A relaxed atmosphere and good ambience as the hotel was quite busy with walkers and their dogs dropping in for lunch whilst walking the Cotswold Way as well as a fair number of people staying in the hotel. Nice seating areas in the bar, with well kept real ales. 6' bed and plenty of beverages in the room.
Disappointing choice of lunch: Hand carved ham. I expected a real gammon ham but it was obviously a joint of re-formed ham. In the late evening we sat at a table in the bar and had to clear away the previous occupant's glasses, as no-one appeared to be checking and clearing tables. Breakfast not the best. Scrambled egg and smoked salmon with parsley and a wedge of lemon arrived with overcooked rubberish eggs, a small spring of parsley garnish, no lemon and a huge lump/pile of salmon that looked grossly unappetising. Slices not even separated out. By anyone's standards it was far too much. I asked one of the waitresses for more coffee as my cup was empty and she brought along the almost empty jug, poured the last of it and didn't offer any more to my husband and sister-in-law (who was also staying in the hotel).
location - everything
Visiting relatives locally Super stay and breakfast
made to feel welcome by all the staff including the dog
a bit warm at night
The room was pleasant, the bar was very good, the dining room was comfortable, and the staff were polite and friendly.
One of the female bar staff, my guess Eastern European, was insolent and full of attitude when asked a simple straightforward question. No complaints about any of the other staff.
Great pub, good breakfast and super friendly staff. Very dog friendly.
WiFi is dismally slow.
Very friendly place.Nice meals and lovely breakfast.
The Toaster just like abroad do not work very well.Got rid of the cosy smoking shelter.
Wonderful facilities for the dog: extensive grounds, room with door leading to a fenced patio, very helpful and accommodating staff.
Friendly Staff Clean Recently Decorated Excellent Food
the bed had reached the stage where, if it was yours, you would consider a replacement...not uncomfortable, just past its' best
