Staff were very helpful, breakfast was good.
Needs some updating
Staff were knowledgeable of the area, very approachable and very polite. Hotel was warm and comfortable and food was lovely. Nice walks in surrounding area. Would definitely go again soon.
Wifi needs improving.
Friendliness of staff, comfortable surroundings, clean, very nice breakfast set us up for the day. Good value for money.
Hotel is a bit tired but the welcome made up for this.
Staff were friendly and helpful
Evening meal was poor value. The special steak overcooked and the sauté potatoes undercooked. Not pleasant.
Typical Old Vintage Inns property. Food and drink in the bar were excellent, including several veggie options. Good range of continental and cooked breakfasts. Very clean and looked recently decorated. Good base to explore Gloucester, Avon, Forest of Dean, West Cotswolds.
Service at breakfast could have been quicker at times, but it was a very busy bank holiday weekend.
Just every thing, fantastic food, great staff, spotless through out, we will be back for another holiday at The Royal George Hotel.
location good for getting around the area
worst breakfast I have ever had . bar prices to high . room was a bit shabby
Staff very nice ,food excellent and defo ideal for anyone with dog as gorgeous forest walk with fab viewpoint on hotel doorstep and patio doors take you direct onto garden .
On arrival room had unpleasant smell possibly drainage problem but dealt with swiftly and got another room but this was outwith staff control and the room had been well cleaned . Hotel is aged but still fab.
Location, (ideal for walking) friendliness of staff and village locals, bar atmosphere, good pub food.
Couldn't fault the place Very pleased to find somewhere that welcomes dogs. very grateful for that!
Lack of choice of vegetarian food. No excuse this day and age with what's available to caterers.
the whole experience was exellent
This b and b was at the end of a long day's walk for us so the spacious room and bath tub were very welcome. The pub food was fine and there was no need to go anywhere else for our meal.
The room did feel a little cold and damp and the whole place could really do with a bit of a refurbishment.
Food excellent, varied menu and very good value. Excellent English breakfast. Good central location for touring the Cotswolds area.
Bed too soft for us old uns
bed, food, atmosphere, friendliness of staff
Could do with a lick of paint in places and corridor carpet cleaned or replaced but did not spoil the stay
Friendly attentive staff who made two night stay so enjoyable. Restaurant food lovely and plenty of choice (typical pub food) and location made it easily accessible to surrounding areas. Although a little dated in decor it is due to close soon for a refurb but would return for a second visit even if it wasn't being updated.
A lovely old building in an ideal location for exploring the Cotswolds. The room was spacious and had everything I needed for a very comfortable stay.
I didn't like leaving the next day - I wish I had booked for 2 nights.
Rooms and facilities were very comfortable
Evening meal was not very good
Great location. Lovely garden. Nice food. Lovely homely feel. Comfy bed and very clean.
Clean, friendly and helpful staff, nice restaurant, good location for walking the Cotswold Way.
A lovely village, can see how this place used to be rather nice.
Took our dog as supposedly dog friendly. This means we had to sit in bar for meals......hotel rules, we didn't mind. Staff rolled their eyes at having to move breakfast settings and were fairly insulting. If you're not pet friendly don't claim to be. Not as if the place is so nice that the dog would be out of place in the main restaurant?!
Location, friendly atmosphere, good selection of food, dog friendly in bar, good walks in woods. Flexibility.
Not being allowed to leave dog in room alone therefore had to eat in bar even for breakfast. Any pet dog would is fully house trained and also not destroy anything.Made us feel like an outcast and did not enjoy same level of service. This policy needs changing.
Lovely hotel, location and staff. Rooms very comfortable, fabulous power shower. Evening meal really nice.
Breakfast not very organised. Staff helpful but not on the ball. Had to ask for butter, jam, cutlery and plates to be replenished. Waited 40 mins for cooked breakfast (other people came and went whilst we were still waiting). We chased it up and were told 'chef was poaching the eggs'. Eggs benedict arrived on last nights stale seeded burger bap (not soft bloomer as advertised) with a measley piece of ham and first forkful left me with a mouthful of egg shell. That finished me off and didn't eat any more. With hindsight, should of complained at the time and just paid for coffee & croissant - but didn't as we were rushing to carry on with journey home. Disappointing as everything else was great.
The old features of the hotel and the garden area was great.
Food service was slow and food very average. Decor in room dated.
Breakfasts were excellent. Staff very accommodating, making sure our large party could all sit together. We felt looked after, and the menu was very good, too!
The meal on the Friday evening was so-so and the staff, whilst perfectly friendly and helpful, were clearly stretched. Also, there was a gathering of youths outside in the garden, swearing and being generally loud until early hours on the Friday night.
The facilties were excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent food and value for money.
