Royal George Hotel  

Location, we were there for an overnight stay on way to a holiday location. Hotel had a bar and restaurant so could relax and not have to leave the hotel, food was good value and good quality

Shower was poor quality bearly a trickle of water and only one small bottle of bath and shower foam between us Also gas went off in the morning so could not have a cooked breakfast

Breakfast - the continental breakfast always was out of danish pastries, never in the three day stay did we ever see the plates replenished. On one occasion when I asked whether more danish pastries was available I was told it would be another 10 - 15 minute wait. The staff in the restaurant need to communicate more with each other and work as a team. Plates left on tables for over 20 minutes when people had left the table. This section really let the Hotel down.

Nice and clean, breakfast perfect more than enough. Room nice and clean. Staff where friendly. Like the area up stair ( conservatory ) as it was nice to sit and have a quite drink and read. When we had our evening meal it was nice to be entertained by the magician.

Just my personal taste - like a soft mattress so didn't get much sleep.

The building and the staff

I am not a fan of the English Inn's (aka Greene King) fixed menus. Or their limited choice of ales. When hiking the Cotswolds you would expect, or certainly hope, to find more pubs doing more local food and certainly serving some of the outstanding local ales and it would be these I seek out next time. Greene King should learn this and move with the times.

The quality of the buffet at the function we attended. Ants crawling over the table, the sugar and the milk at our breakfast table.

We particularly liked the location as we were en route to Somerset via Bristol and the hotel was the right side of Cheltenham. We have stayed at the hotel before. We used to live in Cheltenham and know the area very well. Good breakfast, but my husbands's meal was a bit slow arriving. Also we ate in the bar in the evening and again the meals were slow in being served. We will come again as the hotel offers good value for money, in a super spot and a nice comfortable bed and smart room.

Proximity to Motorway and Cheltenham. Quirky old building with character. Excellent young local staff.

Excellent food, especially breakfast which I found to be far better than from a famous Oxford Hotel I stayed at the night before for double the costs. Staff all friendly. Good location from which to see the Cotswolds. Easy parking.

The "fair" description for Comfort was a reflection of the draughty bar. Mant people complained they had to wear coats when sitting in the bar - it was bitter at times. Radiators were turned off in bedrooms during the day so took some time to warm up when returning to room. It was exceptional cold circumstances though.

An excellent hotel at a very good price. Good, reasonably priced meals. Staff very good - were not at all bothered about our muddy walking boots!

Our room was really lovely and comfortable - and spotlessly clean! The breakfasts were very generous and staff were very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely return.

reception ladies could have been a little warmer and less 'official/aloof' but rest of staff were lovely and pleasant. We would still return!

I wasn't given any salt or mustard with my room service steak, when I rang reception it was enagaged for ages so I just gave up. Also I ordered red wine and got a glass of white, but it was drinkable
