The rooms are very comfortable with excellent huge beds and flat screen T.V. also good tea/coffee facilities. The location is superb set in lovely countryside yet very close to main shopping centres E.g Cheltenham and Gloucester and also near to Bourton on the Water which is a beautiful village with some gorgeous little shops and lovely country pubs, well worth a visit. We have been twice now to this hotel and would happily recommend it, the food in the restaurant is good and there is usually entertainment on in the lounge at the weekends.

Given the adverse comments on the web site, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The food was very good and value for money, and although the bedroom reequired updating it was clean and comfortable. The staff were all very pleasant and hellpfull. The only poor point was that the wallpaper in the bedroom was beginning to peel back and the corrdor to the bedroom was due for redecoration

I liked the fact that dogs are welcome. I am deaf and have an assistance dog, but it was good to see other dogs there as well. The staff were very helpful and took time to explain things to me. I cannot think of anything I did not like. Although dog waste bins might be an idea!!

Pretty much everything. The staff were courteous, efficient and often most charming. The room was spotless and very comfortable, and everything we needed was there. Enormous bed and excellent shower also. The food was of a very high standard and reasonably priced, and there was a good selection of ales in the bar. And the bar itself deserves a mention; we arrived mid-afternoon and were able to relax in this most delightful room. Granted there was music and also TV, but both at an unobtrusive level, and we felt very chilled from the moment we arrived. The surrounding area is beautiful.. we went for a lovely long walk in the woods, which form part of the Cotswold Way, the morning after we arrived, then back for a coffee in the bar before we headed off. 10/10, highly recommended.

The warm, friendly and courteous nature of each and everyone of the hotel staff ensured my short stay was a pleasureable one. The hotel was clean and comfortable with good food served in a relaxed atmosphere. The onsite facilities were more than ample, including good internet connection for my business requirements. I would happily visit again and I have no concerns recommending this hotel to colleagues and friends alike.

My sister and I enjoyed the ambience of this "old" (in comparison to Australian history) hotel, the location being close to Cheltenham, and a friend at Winstone near Cirencester. For a Cotswold visit, it was great! The staff were most helpful, the meals delicious, and the room was very clean and comfy.

Set in a beautiful landscape, within easy reach of many attractions, ancient and modern, this hotel has a lot going for it. The staff were, in general, friendly and helpful. Indeed, for the most part, they were attentive and efficient. The room was tidy and in keeping with a building of this age. Our review would have been a lot better had we not experienced a night manageress who managed to fail in every possible way to meet a very simple request and seemed oblivious and disinterested to our need to take a shower on returning to the hotel at 10pm.

The hotel had a nice friendly atmos, the location was ideal for lovely walks, the bed was lovely and comfortable!! The ladies toilets in reception area wasnt cleaned regulary, nor was the bin emptied outside reception, it was full up with same rubbish for the 3 days we were there!! Empty glasses around the garden in the morning, that hadnt been cleared away from the night before and some of the seats in the restaurant were stained, also crumbs on the floor and carpet, that had not been swept from ther day/night before, we knew this as there was a cocktail stirer under our table when we had breakfast!!

I like the old world style of the hotel. The food services are good and the hotel staff very helpful. I didn't like having flashing "cheap" machines.....whatever they were, gambling or games in an old style bar/restaurant. I thought with a little imagination and a couple of containers of paint the whole place could have had a lot more charm. You are not taking advantage of the the strong roots of the architecture.

We stayed in the George for two nights a Sunday and a Monday, and found it very relaxing. Our room was clean, the bed was a large double and so comfortable. There was a choice of eating in the restaurant or the bar and a good choice on the menu for all meals reasonably priced too. It is in a great location for walking and we did part of the Cotswold walk. There is a large garden and plenty of off road parking.

“Our stay at the Ibis was very impressive, it was both comfortable and very clean. The staff were excellent, especially the two staff members that were on duty Sunday morning breakfast, one being the shift manager Alison, and the other being a well turned out polite and courteous young man, (unfortunately I can not remember his name) he was also on duty Saturday and always had a smile on his face and spoke to everyone whom he came in contact with, he was a credit to the hotel. We will definitely be staying there again. And will recommend the Ibis.” Ray, Trusthorpe |
