Friendly staff Clean and comfortable, quiet environment Good food
A little noisy at times
The hotel is very good and the staff are helpful and polite
Very helpful staff. Good setting. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable public areas, bed and bathroom.
No desk in the room and no real room for a desk.
Bed was extremely comfortable. All fittings brand new.
I have stayed several times before but not in the new annex. It is divorced from the hotel which is great. Nonetheless the room was quiet and comfortable. The view out of the window is rubble from the renovation. I prefer a sea view.
We had cocktails in the snug bar. In the morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in a historic front room overlooking the harbour as the sun came up.
The two historic houses are slightly small and pokey and we had to climb a rather narrow staircase. This was fine but I worried about fire and how we would escape from the top floor.
Bed was fantastic as was breakfast, excellent location and staff were extremely helpful
No mirrors in room other than bathroom difficult to do hair and check appearance
Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfasts. Excellent public lounges with log fires. Numerous pictures on the walls. Sea view. In-room Tv reception poor - read more books!
Bedroom a tad small but compensated by excellent lounges. Lack of lift (but I've just had a knee operation). In-room Tv reception was poor.
We liked just about everything, the service, surroundings and it's possibly the cleanest hotel I have stayed in for years! The décor was outstanding and beautifully staged. we would definitely stay there again, magnificent breakfast too.
Not so much what we didn't like really...we just found the bed a bit narrow....nothing else!
Friendly welcome, comfortable bed and good food
Very minor point but no desk to work on when travelling on business
Lovely hotel with many original features, roaring fires and cosy public rooms to sit and relax. Excellent breakfast selection from full English cooked to order or continental buffet. Lovely evening meal in the restaurant. Very friendly, welcoming and cheerful manager.
I had a lovely warm, comfy bed, plump pillows and thick duvet this was just a swell as my room was rather drafty on a cold blustery December evening. I had a room on the top floor and the wifi was terrible and very unreliable although it worked fine in the public areas downstairs. Despite these two shortcomings I'd still highly recommend the hotel great price and beats the bland Travelodge down the road.
Loved the little touches - lots of new magazines, free tea, coffee and biscuits in the lounge, honesty bar etc. Staff were warm and friendly.
The common areas are lovely but our bedroom felt a bit tired. New curtains, lamps and carpet would make a big difference.
Poor wifi access can be an issue when trying to complete work on a buisness trip.
The location was perfect for what we wanted to do. Loads of places to eat all within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room although quite small was warm and comfortable.
The only downside was the room size but it was overcome and as we were out for most of the day did not have much effect.
A comfortable and characterful hotel with welcoming staff and all the necessary etceteras. The value for money was exceptional, and we loved the harbour and town view from our cabin room.
Excellent breakfast and very comfortable bed.
bed view location staff breakfast quirkiness
On arriving at the hotel mid afternoon we were able to park just across the road. We were welcomed by polite and helpful staff who gave us a tour of the lounge, snug and dining room before escorting us to our room. Our room was not huge, but was comfortable and had amazing views over the harbour. After an evening in a very plesent restaurant in town we returned to the hotel, listened to some tunes on the vinyl record player in the lounge and retired to bed. The bed was very comfortable and after a refreshing night's sleep we had an amazing breakfast sitting overlooking the view. The hotel has a great style and I loved the bookcases in boats, photos, maps and artwork.
Our shower was on the dated side and somewhat on the cramped side for my partner who is 6 ft 3.
Great hotel with excellent staff. Very cosy you will not want to leave. Open fires, record player and fantastic reading material.
perfect location at the waterfront / marina of Ramsgate. Pleasant staff and lovely furnished and equipped rooms, incl. TV and reading room. My room was pretty small but so lovely.
in case you are travelling with 2 persons and want to spend more than a night the room can actually be a bit to tiny. You have barely room for your luggage and only one of you can stand in the room while the otherone has to be on the bed.
Dining room too small for saturday sunday breakfast but food still excellant
Sea view was brilliant, room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast offered a fairly wide choice, including full English. Comfortable sitting rooms available to guests. Eclectic mixture of paintings spread throughout the property was very pleasing.
Empire restaurant portions were miniscule and overpriced. Restaurant added nearly £30 of items to our bill which we hadn't had. Refund was made when we went back to complain.
Comfortable Bed Friendly staff Good breakfast
Room too small.
They thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Thought the room very comfortable with a wonderful view. Also breakfast was amazing.
They liked everything.
The room, the views, the proximity to harbour and restaurants, friendly staff, open fire in the lounge, very dog-friendly
Steep staircase to top floors
Difficulty of finding parking space
