We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Hotel we were made to feel very welcome food was excellent. Try the Flat Iron Steak beautiful. The local walk to the waterfalls was stunning would recommend to anyone.

I liked the friendly couteous competent staff who made us feel welcome. I liked the on site bar and restaurant which gave you the choice of going out or not but most of all I think I enjoyed the peace and privacy including no mobile signal!! I would definately stay again,

The Hotel staff were friendly and efficient and the hotel itself quite cosy if a little cool at times. The 5 course meal on New years eve was very good but for some food could have been warmer. The sparkling wine and fireworks were also good.Breakfast was good and plentiful. Our bedroom was cold when we arrived and the central heating ( in our room or en suite)) did not work. Our friends room c/h was fine. An electric oil heater in the room also did not work. A replacement heater was brought which was ok. A secondery heater was added which was the one that did not work so we made do with one. The room c/h never worked at all through our stay and I`m not sure if any attempt was made to fix it.

location, we stayed 5 years earlier and loved the cosiness of the bar lounge area, and the choice of either restaurant or bar meal.On our recent visit we again enjoyed our stay, the young man behind the bar was extremely pleasant and helpful. We will hopefully stay again in the future.

We stayed for two nights at The Royal Hotel and it was a very enjoyable stay. The rooms were spotlessly clean although the double (with shower only) is rather small and has no wardrobe which was a bit disappointing. Breakfasts were very good and the evening meal we had was excellent. The Royal is in a great location for the climb we wanted to do and for lovely local waterfalls. A great weekend and a very pleasant place to stay.

Overall I thought the Royal Hotel was an excellent place to stay. The service of the staff was superb. They was also very friendly. The room it self was top notch. It was clean and the bed was really comfy. I will certainly be recommending the Royal Hotel to friends and family. If they ever visit the area.

Had a great stay, staff were very friendly and overall enjoyed brief stay. The beds are so comfy I wanted take one home with me. Breakfast times were a bit strict at 9:30 - 10:30

The staff were very friendly, food was very good plenty to choose from especially breakfast. The evening meals were very good too, if you like to try food that is different from the norm. The hotel is in an excellent location for walking aroung lake ullswater, and is easy travelling to the rest of the lakes. The hotel is comfortable and welcoming after going walking all day.
