Dudley
Stornoway's most historic hotel, the Royal nestles in the heart of Stornoway, beside the marina, where you can relax, enjoy the hotel's cozy character and enjoy dining in our Boatshed Restaurant or in HS1, the town's 1st cafe bar. If on business, you'll probably appreciate free wireless internet access available throughout the hotel. What matters so much more than bricks and mortar, though, is the warmth of the welcome and the friendly, easy service you'll receive - for the Hebrides has a great tradition of hospitality. While the Royal Hotel enjoys a delightful view over the colorful, bustling harbor to the splendor of Lews Castle and its grounds. The center of town is only around 220 yards away. Hotel Rooms: 26

The fact that they could cope with my arrival at 230 in the morning off the ferry. Extremely warm rooms - stuffy

The staff could not have been more helpful. The location opposite the castle was good and central to the town.

1. The Towels. 2. breakfast served to the room (£3.00 extra). Staff have friendly attitude. Room with view over carpark - and noise of kitchen vent.Grubby common areas and stairways.Food relatively pricey - cooking OK but unremarkable. Only has a bar with restuarant tables and a restuarant, there is no lounge area to sit and relax in the evening. Its a bit B+ - OK but not brilliant.

We were only there overnight to get the ferry next morning. The bed was the most comfortable I had had during a week of travelling about - bliss!

An excellent location in the centre of Stornaway. Views from the bedrooms are lovely. Although I only had breakfast I heard others talking about the quality of the food on the dinner menu and I noticed that it attracted outsiders Perhaps in need of some refurbishment throughout. Appeared a little grubby in places and the pillows were very hard!

It was very central.and food good but pricey. It was very expensive for what you get, have stayed in much better for half the price and even less in country wide hotel chains. The room I had was next to a duct system that was so noisy I had to turn the TV way up to hear it, the fan with-in the duct did not go off until late in the evening about 10.00pm approximately, my room was not cleaned on second night and tea tray not filled, at price I was paying would say this was scandalous, also very poor parking only enough for about 6/7 cars and some of these spaces taken up by staff.

Well located, close to town centre and shopping area. Comfortable room with pleasant view over to the castle. Cramped bathroom. Shower didn't work in one of the rooms. The cafe's "afternoon tea" was very limited - tea and biscuits or waffle with ice- cream (without the ice-cream as the machine was broken). No scones, muffins, tea cakes or fresh cream cakes. When asked whast was meant by afternoon tea, the waiter said "well, you can get a cup of tea in the afternoon".

The room was clean and quite well maintained. The food in the BoatShed Restaurant was excellent on both evenings, the breakfast was very good and plentiful. I will be returning to this Hotel in the near future and would recommend to others. I would have liked a lower cost room rate, I felt it was a little pricey compared to others.

Right on the harbour front so very convenient. The HS1 Cafe Bar was great for food and drink during the day. Car Park at rear to hotel was handy. The bedroom was quite cold - if it hadn't been for a back up plug in radiator it would have been worse. No heat of any kind in the bathroom so showers need to be taken very quickly!

Always a friendly welcome and very comfortable bed which is a must for a hotel when away on business. The breakfast here is great - must be with Stornoway black pudding! Only thing was radiator heat gets bit lost at window but noticed a portable heater in room which did the job.
