Across from Bath Spa Station, this Georgian-style hotel offers fine cuisine and free Wi-Fi. It has an excellent location close to shops and about 700 yards from the Roman Baths. The famous architect, Brunel, designed The Royal in the 19th century. Its rooms still have a traditional style, complete with, slippers, mineral water, merino wool blankets and Egyptian cotton bedding. The historic Royal has 2 relaxed bars, one with a sports theme. The restaurant is known for excellent food and specializes in great steaks. There are fixed-price menus as well as a menu for lunch and dinner. There are a number of parking lots within about 55 yards of The Royal. Hotel Rooms: 31

Good sized room. Nice atmosphere. Quality feel. Welcoming staff. Great location. Central location means some road noise. Shower was too hot. Lack of parking, although car parks close by.

Fantastic hotel - very well situated next to the train station although no noise from there disturbed us at all, and excellent location in the center of Bath.

The room was great, hotel architecture good, staff good. King size bed was actually two singles, split down the middle, with no mattress pad to stop you from falling down between the two beds. This was awkward and uncomfortable and although the room was otherwise excellent, certainly it took away from the experience. I was on a romantic getaway and the bed was nor reallyconducive to that!

The in-room tea and real coffee selection was great. The noise from the pigeons and the sunlight coming in through the curtains at 7am.

Location Shabby around the edges and extremely slow service at breakfast - the staff seemed surprised at everyone coming in at once, which must happen daily given breakfast ends at 9.30am. Bed extremely soft.

The room was clean and large with a great bathroom - especially the shower. The tv (even though we didn't use it) had a built-in dvd player and there was also a radio with an iPod dock - very handy! There was also a mini-plunger and ground coffee, much nicer than the usual instant coffee. The included breakfast was also great (full English + extras!). The hotel staff weren't the friendliest bunch...

The staff were very friendly and efficient. Decent breakfast. Good speed of the free WiFi. Location next to the train station, yet quiet. Room has flat screen tv with dvd player and there's an iPod dock too. Pigeons roosting above room made noise at around 5:30--7:00 every morning.

“Comfortable clean rooms, peaceful ambience, very customer focussed and competent staff. Breakfast was just as previous visitors have decribed, a good selection to please most people and on a par with upmarket hotels. Car parking although £10 a day for the service is worth it in Bath. Location for city centre walking is excellent.” Michael, Wynyard |
