Great value for excellent hotel in ideal position for my requirements
not really anything, wish I could get this price every time I am in the area
When we arrived the lady claimed that we were in the wrong hotel, which we weren't. My boyfriend and I had booked a double room and they gave us a twin bedroom, as that was the only room that was ready. Which was very disappointing.
Good food. Friendly staff
Liked all the amenities in hotel . breakfasts good..
Very hard bed needs to be renewed . fire alarm going off during the night.
Location Size of room
Lack of heating on arrival
Maintenance Issues Fire Alarm faulty
Great location and friendly staff. Good choice of breakfast menu however our order did not meet what was said on the menu. (No beans or tomatoes)
Light not working in bedroom. No remote control for TV Only 1 glass Chards of broken glass on bathroom floor.
Everything was good
After reading some other reviews which were negative, we decided to stay at the Royal Hotel in Bridge of Allan anyway. We were very pleased with our room No. 22. The Hotel is an old Hotel which probably dates back to late 1700,s. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. There are plenty of parking spaces at the Hotel. We found all of the staff ( in particular Megan), to be very helpful. The Hotel is ideally located within easy walking distance of the Town Centre . We found the cost was fair for our stay, if you want a luxury break you would probably like to consider another option & pay double what we did. Thanks to all staff at the Royal Hotel we enjoyed our stay with you.
The staff working round the clock during weekend
Being transferred to annex two days prior to arrival. Claiming electrical work at Royal hotel (do not believe that for a second). Rooms very run down. Lightbulbs missing. Shower broken etc.
The location is ideal for the train station and exploring this delightful small town.
The staffing levels appear low. We waited ages in the restaurant at breakfast to be served after we were seated. Our last night of 3 was an experience. After returning from a days sightseeing, the receptionist asked us how many nights we were staying as the cleaner had reported our belongings were still in the room and they had expected us to have left. No way we said. We had paid for 3 nights and were going to stay the night. We found our room had not been touched. Too late for it to be cleaned as it was 5.00pm. We were asked for our booking form. We replied that we had handed it over and I produced the receipt to prove that we had paid. We went down the road to The Westerton Arms and had a delightful meal and returned to the hotel for a coffee and a drink at the bar. There was no one serving in the bar. Annoyingly they had revamped the bar and to my mind since my last visit had completely destroyed its atmosphere. It used to stock over 300 single malts in nice warm cosy surroundings. The room was sterile, cold and uninviting and only about 10 single malts on offer. What a shame. The receptionist came in to the bar area and I asked if we could order some coffee and drinks. Begrudgingly she said she would be back in 2 minutes, We had already been waiting 10 minutes. We placed our order and she was called away to deal with a problem back at reception. Eventually we got our 2 coffees and a single malt and a brandy. I asked for another single malt and was asked how I was going to pay. Credit card I responded. You will have to come to reception to pay. They had no facility in the bar for card payments and the card reader was not portable, neither would it accept a contactless payment which was not all bad news as the receptionist had never heard of this kind of payment saying that this must me some kind of new payment system that had not reached Scotland yet.
Price of drink
Room dirty ran a bath water was yellow hotel could do with updated and a good clean
Big room Excellent breakfast Room was warm and cosy. Staff were very helpful in all matters
Walk to the room.
Manager never returned call despite 4 attempts to establish why my booking was not honoured.
Location. Takes pets
At first sight the room look OK - but then we noticed that the curtain rail was partly hanging off in the bedroom and the curtain in the bathroom had mold on the side towards the window. The table in the restaurant rocked.
breakfast good. Size of room and bathroom good. Staff friendly although I would have liked someone to come and see my mattress when I complained instead of just saying we'll change it tomorrow.
Mattress first night appauling, sunk in middle and no support at all. Got changed second night as hotel not full then, however it should not have been in the hotel, it should have been in the tip. Cleanliness of bathroom not good. Glass had smashed on floor and found 6 shards of glass. Pedastal for sink filthy with brown marks smeared all down it. Lighting in room inadequate. Had no chance of reading with it.
Sorry to nothing except location.
Poorly maintained. Not very clean. Room was very dark. No central ceiling light. Socket hanging off the wall. Holes in bathroom ceiling stuffed with tissue paper where water had come in. Significant water ingress and black mould on ceiling and walls. Hole in bathroom door and lock hanging off.
Food was good and the room was very nice.
Shower was cold.
The cooked breakfast was lovely cooked fresh. The location of the hotel and the price was ideal for what we needed.
The bed was uncomfortable. The telephone didn't work in our room we had to use our mobile to ring reception. There was not enough pillows. There was an ironing board but no iron.
Clean rooms, excellent food and extreamly relaxing.
the location, bed room and dining
The bar area was really poor and uninviting. As a result we went out of the Hotel to another evening venue across the road. Perhaps if the bar was refreshed, better décor and comfort more guests would use this facility. Also, I have used the Royal on a number of occasions in the past. I am sure the price of the room on this occasion was considerably higher and no discount for a previous customer. During the week of this visit we had stayed in other hotels, of a similar or higher rating, as far away as Fortwilliam and this and less costly
Location, varied menu in the evenings. Staff helpful.
Dripping shower and only one set of towels. There was a feedback form in room which I commented on the above but these were just the same the following day.
Ancient lift - my husband has a disability - so necessary Bath, tiling and shower dated, marked and leaking Single glazed, dirty and old curtains Disabled access was poor
Food room staff excellent
Decor needs updating breakfast uninteresting not enough comfy chairs in bar area
Staff were friendly booking in was a joy bed was comfortable breakfast was great !
Late night noise from generator or air con unit, no other issues just a good honest hotel.
