A former 19th-century coaching inn, Castle Arms Hotel is a Visit Scotland award winning hotel just 8 miles from John O'Groats, in the village of Mey.
Score from 182 reviews Fabulous
A stylish bed and breakfast in mainland Scotland’s most northerly town, Bed and Breakfast at 4 in Thurso enjoys a town centre location just 5 minutes’ drive from the ferry to Orkney.
Score from 113 reviews Superb
Very close to Thurso Train Station, this hotel has free Wi-Fi, free public parking and comfortable rooms with Freeview TV. Station Hotel serves fine Scottish meat cooked in a traditional style.
Score from 138 reviews Very good
The Inn @ Y-Not is situated in the heart of the coastal town of Thurso, within 10-minutes' walk from all amenities, shops, bars and restaurants.
Score from 119 reviews Very good
Location very good in the centre of Thurso.
The central location was ideal. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was reasonable.
This hotel consisted of miles of rambling corridors and lots of stairs, how you would get out in an emergency I do not know. The Royal is an old building and it shows, its dark, dirty and for senior's like us hard work getting luggage from car to room. My advice if your looking for accommodation in Thurso is to give The Royal Hotel a miss.
Nice and comfortable room. The "older" lady in reception extremely pleasant and friendly. Breakfast was fine and served very quickly in spite of the big coach party also having breakfast at the same time.
We had a nice stay. If I was to be picky...then a new shower curtain + toilet holder is needed...
great central location,good double room,plenty free parking,good breakfast,friendly staff,good value for money.
window in room very mouldy with condensation,as was shower, mobile phone signal not good, room could be doing with a refurbishment.
haveing to park car in Co Op car park
Clean, comfortable room — nice breakfast
Slow wifi; slow front desk.
Very friendly and helpful staff
MEALS WERE NICE
WAIT TO ORDER MEALS IN BAR
Very central location
Very expensive for a very poor quality hotel. Bedroom needed a complete paint job. Very few car spaces. Bar shared with a franchise coffee shop. Not very nice. Coffee poor. Wont stay here again.
Felt more like a poor/average B&B than a 'Boutique' hotel.
Comfortable beds and clean rooms, no traffic noise. Good bar area.
Restaurant not available unless pre-booked.
The staff especially the receptionist were most helpful
The place needed up dating
Staff were friendly on arrival and hotel is right in the middle of the town making it an ideal location. Off street parking was also an added bonus. Room was fine and breakfast was hearty enough to set us up for the next days travelling.
Comfortable bed (twin room), large room and bathroom, breakfast adequate, helpful staff.
Limited car parking but on road parking available. Hotel is showing it's age, could do with some tidying up in places.
complicated access to room 70 alleviated by back door but awkward in wet weather which I didn't get.
Tired and in need of a revamp. Location is ?
Staff were very friendly and accommodating when we requested a room change, but I felt that at £85 per night it was a bit expensive for what it is. The first room we had was right on the road and very loud. Breakfast was quite good and overall it was a good experience, but I don't know that I'd return.
Clean, reasonable room. Friendly reception staff.
Cold plates and resulting cold food, one dinner barely edible so we ate out. Breakfast only came on a hot plate if we asked for one. PLATES SHOULD BE HOT for hot food. Evening waitress, in bar, did not ask if food was OK or if we needed anything - we might have sent it back if she had.
Clean comfortable hotel. Good value, well cooked food. Good service.
It's an old but pretty good hotel Room was very nice but it's location wasn't Ask for a room that's not next to the main road
Traffic noise (our room was in the cross section of the main road -> no real sleep since everybody use this road to get anywhere, bikers, busses...)
Hospitality was good, all the staff pleasant and friendly, room was clean and beds comfortable.
More choice for a cooked breakfast would gave been appreciated.
once you have found your way around the maze of stairs and corridors and found your room it was warm and clean. Breakfast was good if not a little cold for my liking.
The noise of the boy racers running through the town and the noise of the night clubs closing.
Nice large clean rooms, friendly staff, good location.
Average food (breakfast good, evening meal very ordinary), poor wi-fi no signal in my room.
The ensuite was so outdated. Grubby tiles, rusty plug chains, mould growing around the basin etc. all in all looking very sad.In real need of refurbishment.
