The staff were very efficient and friendly. The menu at the hotel 'restaurant' was very limited. The hotel was very noisy and the room decor was more like a hall of residence at a university than a room costing £120.00 a night. I'm afraid I didn't think it was value for money. Room service was slow and water in the shower, cold.

Location is excellent. 2 minutes walk from train, under 5 to main shops and restaurants. Staff were very helpful. Room was clean. Free wifi. Pipes in bathroom made loud noises. Fixed by random flushing and turning faucets on/off. Some people would complain about beds (on the soft side, and mattress a bit wider than support). Ok for me. Not perfectly modern, but not at all bad either.

Very friendly and helpful staff, Superb location. Nice room. Fresh fruit a nice touch. The cooked breakfast wasn't a success. The sausage looked as though it had been microwaved (ie grey and hard), the bacon was cooked but only warm and the mushrooms, though they looked good, tasted of garlic! A real shame as the ingredients looked perfect.

We stayed on a Saturday night and were kept awake by exceptionally loud music which did not stop until around 4.00am. Although the hotel was good in all other respects, we would not stay here again because of the noise.

I stayed for 1 night and my sister and her husband for 2.We both found the mattress' very old and very uncomfortable. They need throwing out, as the springs have 'gone' in the middle!

Too overpriced ,lack of service, the mattress was extremely uncomfortable, lack of a lift, the venue for breakfast was slightly grubby and on one of our mornings, the service was not good. Situation was great, but I could stay in a Premier for less, get the same level of service and get a taxi and still get change from what two nights has cost me.

We liked the location, the extreme helpfulness of the staff, the warmth of the rooms, the simplicity of the shower taps [ once you worked out how the taps worked ], the wi-fi connections, the security of the keys. The lack of a fridge [ for those who like real milk for their tea or coffee ], some system to move heavy luggage up or down for elderly or sick people

Very good proximity to Oxford Centre and rail station. Excellent friendly, efficient staff. Very good sized room with free water/ fruit and morning newspaper - that hospitality would shame many 5* hotels. Did not have breakfast but it was reasonably priced as an option - the option was open for a late decision after a night out - that is also a big plus.

Rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet, staff were friendly, very close to the city centre. I should note I was on the courtyard side - worth insisting on a room there, since others report the road side is noisy! Some of the furniture in the rooms was a little tired, but not really a problem. Everything worked and the bathroom was new.

It's difficult to find a decent hotel in or very close to the city centre in Oxford at an affordable price. The Royal Oxford does just that. It's located very near the train station, a 5 mn walk from the bus station and the centre. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and fully air-conditioned.

It wasn't bad for a weekend get away. The fact that they could accommodate 3 people in a quite specious room was a plus. All the basic necessities were there as well. The bathroom is somewhat out-dated.
