Located in the heart of Newcastle city centre and opposite Newcastle’s Central Rail and Bus Station, this beautifully preserved 19th-century building is now a modern hotel.

food ,leisure, staff, room and location
It was a fab hotel
Two of the three rooms looked on to a brick wall
Fresh painted room smell fumes poor quality bedding windows draughty couldn't turn heat down in room
The location is perfectly placed in the middle of the town which made it easy to get anywhere within a few minutes walk. It was easy to find with our gps, and inexpensive parking was just on the back side of the building. Breakfast was fantastic. The staff members were amazing remembering me by name upon my exit and entrance.
The bath tub/shower was a bit dodgy. The shower head and bracket were both loose and/or cracked and didn't function properly. Water adjustments were very extreme with minor input on the handle. Our tub had a crack in the finish and limited where we could sit or stand in it because of a sharp edge.
Clean, comfortable room. Simple, modern furnishings. Fridge and free refreshments.
Very noisy guests using the room opposite mine. Noisy during the early evening, late evening when they went out, on returning at about 3am and then continuing until 6am.(Saturday night only).
Thought £80 for a single room should have at least included breakfast
Despite my car being bumped in the hotel car park by a local taxi firm, the hotel manager was very helpful in getting all the information i needed for my insurance company.
The pool was rather dated and didn't like having to go upstairs to change, bit of a trek over a wet carpet. Some seating around the pool would be advantageous.
Clean and comfortable - an ideal location for the railway station and city centre. Food was very good, too!
We came in after midnight and my daughter needed to print a document from her email. The staff at reception (I forgot his name) was extremely helpful. So we're the staff at checkout. The location right next to the station suited us fine as we came in late, and it was meant to be just a short stay. Beds were comfortable, toilet large and clean. Complimentary KitKat was nice! Room was quiet even though next to train station. We were on the fourth floor and the only problem was that there were stairs even on taking the lift to the top floor, so if there were big luggages it might have been difficult.

TV on wall and could only be watched by sitting on the bed;only chair was in the adjacent lounge part of the suite.
Booked night in between xmas and new year for night at town, we only live 15 mile from town but it was a treat to stay somewhere so beautiful instead of getting taxi home. Thought parking would be a problem but lucky we got parked behind hotel in the few spaces allocated. Hotel itself is beautiful, the chandlers are an exquisite eye catcher for the entrance. Good staff, clean room, comfy bed and the hotels location is fab! Bar in the hotel has the best pint of John Smith's in town! We will definitely stay again!
The Royal Station is a classic English hotel which still has a feel of the golden age of rail travel in the Victorian era, loads of dark panelling, lush carpets and staff who are endlessly helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable and also harked back to yesteryear although when needed the wifi was reliable. The experience was most enjoyable and felt everso slightly decadent. Would look forward to staying there again should the chance arise.
When we arrived back at the hotel after a night out I fancied a swift night cap. On asking what scotch was available the answer was Bells or Jack Daniels. I had pictured myself sitting in the lounge luxuriating over a single peaty malt so decided to go without.
Four poster bed, big bathroom, location
Shower screen had a hole in so leaked onto floor. Bed a bit low down
Beautiful lobby and period features Spacious rooms Excellent value for money The building has good character
Slightly out dated in places Limited parking but train station can be used.
Pleasant staff, beautiful building and good food. Good value for position. Can be accessed direct from station
Poor shower pressure on top floor. Rooms slightly tired
good location, near railway station
The wifi always out
Warm welcome, friendly staff, easy access to all my destinations north and south of the river by public transport. Good breakfast and reasonably priced restaurant meals.
Lack of real ales in the bar, not everyone thinks beer should be served icy cold. Spent my money elsewhere in town on beer!!
The tween room was very roomy and comfortable
The room was cold, and raidieter did not work all that well, pluse the noise from the train station could be heard.
Room warm in mid winter. Staff pleasant and helpful, the desk staff explained the wi-fi code and another one the next day asked if there was anything else she could help me with when I picked up my case from the secure room on the last day. One of the porters asked me if I was alright when I looked about for a lounge, which I thought was nice. Overall a good stay. I have stayed before and aim to do so again. Well Done !
Not really a bad experience, but on the check out day one of the housekeeping staff was outside the room door at 9.30 and said In a loud voice that this was her last room to do. The check out time is 11.00 hours and I felt pressured to get out much sooner and did so. Not quite putting the customer first !
location, price,disabled facilities Quiet room.
Only full meals in restaurant when I just wanted a sandwich. Ordered Fish and chips without peas, Came covered in peas, fish was grey, tasteless and heavily battered, left most of it.Ordered a latte coffee with the meal which never arrived. No one came to ask how the meal was so unable to complain. Bed far too hard
Location and leisure.
Location is good for city centre
Booked a superior double expecting a nice room, would probably have got better in a standard premier inn room
Staff All were helpful and it a stone throw away from the town centre
Nothing all ok
Room: too small, dirty windows, room cleaned after 2pm WHEN I WAS IN THE ROOM!!!!!
the hotel is an old traditional hotel with very old ceilings etc: in its central areas. The gym and spa facility is good and modern and a key feature.
Corridors and rooms are quite old though they have been refurbished in the bathroom areas in particular. The gym and spa were good but unfortunately close at 3.30 on a Sunday.
