In total I booked three Rooms for my stay one for myself and my wife, the other two I booked for family members, my room was good and as expected, one was dirty with nail clippings in the bathroom, the third room was dirty with splashes up the walls they would not walk from the bathroom to the bedroom in bare feet and it was in dire need of refurbishment.
Excellent central location Cosy bar Grand, traditional decor/staircase, etc Very friendly/polite staff Wonderful shower
So guests were a bit noisy in the corridor at night, there should be notices saying to be quiet in the areas of the bedrooms
Closeness to Everything
I stayed in old room the springs coming out from the bed windows doesn't open and they never come to clean the room .
Excellent location, right by Central Station, and close to city centre. Room was fine, clean and comfortable. Considering this, I didn't pay too much. Only there overnight, so didn't get much chance to sample facilities
WiFi didn't work on my laptop. It was something of a trek to my room. The place slightly gave the impression of having seen better days...
I had booked a double room and they upgraded me to a King size for the same price. I enjoyed my stay and the location was excellent for the station
Spa use, location, restaurant, friendly staff, clean rooms, facilities.
Bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable
location traditional hotel modern facilities spa - great to swim before breakfast-surprised to go outside to get to it but not a problem. friendly staff
Location, room ok, good value.
Breakfast overpriced, the Spa is very poorly maintained. Hotel needs a face lift
Bedroom was nice size, modern & comfortable, with big onsuite bathroom, good value for the money.
Hallways a bit stale, no porters to be found Music from wedding functions at the weekend are annoying until stops at midnight Parking is expensive if not being able to get lucky with one of the 21 spots when available
i did not like the noise from wedding partys till early hours running up and down corridors as well as hen partys
Lovely old building central to town
Very noisy outside, if staying at a weekend
Good location but, there's loads of better hotels in the centre of Newcastle Fridge in room with a couple of freebies in it, shame it wasn't big enough to jump into & cool off !!!
No air condition , window did not open so, room was hot & stuffy even with a fan :-( made sleep impossible & spent as little time as possible in there!!! Corridors leading to room smelly & dirty looking, so many stairs up & down leading to room, lift does not take you anywhere near. Avoid!!!!
chandaliers, staff, baggage room
Pillows in the room were flat and not enough, I had to have the window open as it was hot but the noise was terrbile all night...typical sat night know fault of hotel!
They upgraded me from a single room to a double one :D
i went to stay at thestation hotel when doin the great north run the staff was very helpful and on the night after doin the run they ordered pizzasfor us all and brought them up to our rooms which was lovley a big thankyou to you all x
we liked the facilities at the hotel. loved the swimming pool and sauna. was nice and relaxing and all included in price :)
Just a nice hotel
Coctail bar was abit expensive
A friendly greeting at reception and very handy for arriving by train - literally next door. Complimentary water, orange juice & chocolate bars in the fridge as well as a corkscrew! Slippers, bath robes and nice toiletries were a welcome touch & I was brought a fan for the room as it was very warm. Iron and ironing board in the room was much better than having to ring down for them. Fabulous building with original Victorian features and magnificent chandeliers.
Very noisy due to my room literally overlooking the station so I could hear every announcement & train going through. Was able to keep windows shut once a fan was brought to my room. Looked spotless everywhere but found that the bathroom bin had not been emptied from previous guest and the loo had not been very well cleaned under the rim - ugh! There was also a strange bedside light that swivelled and kept hitting me on the head!
Carpet at the entrance
I liked the friendly staffs, services and the hotel location.
I didn't like the facilities, such as no air conditioner and the small wardrobe.
Staff helpfulness, location, decoration.
Lovely hotel Friendly Staff Nice facilities (swimming pool, Jacuzzi etc) Good location Delicious food.
The first room we were given wasn't very nice but hotel were more than happy to swap to a newer refurbished room. Problem quickly solved. Some rooms didn't have easy access as lots of stairs.
It hit all the right buttons for a weekend break. Service,Hospitality,in the City from the Railway Station.
