Staff helpfulness, location, decoration.
Lovely hotel Friendly Staff Nice facilities (swimming pool, Jacuzzi etc) Good location Delicious food.
The first room we were given wasn't very nice but hotel were more than happy to swap to a newer refurbished room. Problem quickly solved. Some rooms didn't have easy access as lots of stairs.
It hit all the right buttons for a weekend break. Service,Hospitality,in the City from the Railway Station.
Location is great, next to the main train station, the size of the room was good, bathrooms recently refurbished, clean rooms and bedding. I was given a room facing the side of the train station and had no problems sleeping, noise was minimal.
Wifi signal varies inside the room, speed is capped unless you pay extra.
It was too expensive and a bit dated
I only live in Sunderland but was going for food and drinks with my partner so decided to get a hotel central in the city. It was clean, spacious and fab deco. Free parking, wifi and a spa and gym. Next to the city 5 mins walk to shops bars and resturants!
Roadworks outside the front of the hotel which our room looked onto, was noisy.
Had a great time in this Hotel. having visited Newcastle on several occasions this was our first time staying in the Royal Station Hotel. Staff were excellent and room was good size, clean and comfortable. Maybe an upgrade of the decor in the corridors wouldnt be a bad idea.
Bed was ok
Very expensive and over rated, more 1 star than 3.
I realise the hotel is situated on a busy street, but there is no double glazing to reduce the noise of the traffic or nearby building work!! A very poor nights sleep!! Lack of attention to cleanliness in the bathroom & other details. Won't be going back no matter how good the offer is!!
We really liked the grand feel of the place with its old railway pride feeling. It was very reasonable and we had a large and quite quiet room overlooking the street. I particularly liked the parking, in the guest bays outside the hotel, and free for guests.
The room lacked a few features - only one armchair and no rack for suitcases in such a large room. Also, the bedside lighting was very poor, I could not read by it.
Location staff helpfulness and friendliness
Facilities excellant and staff very friendly and helpfull. Food was also very good.
Noise from street on Friday night was really bad. Made sleeping very difficult until at least 3am.
good breakfast, comfy bed, excellent staff
if you have the window open you won't sleep because of the nightly clubbing racket. If you have the window shut you'll overheat - but the noise is subdued. Go for a room at the back.
Location and staff terrific. Breakfast well worth the price
Very limited supply of hot water.
Great value of money but very warm and humid inside the room no A/C
The hotel was beautiful inside and very luxurious the location was good, very close to the railway station, which is why we chose it
It was very noisy outside the hotel which although is uncontrollable by the hotel affected our sleep. Maybe the hotel should consider double/triple glazing
beautiful hotel, excellent friendly staff who were very helpful
We had stayed before and was impressed. We did have a suite which was just amazing. Dont be put off being near the train station. We were prepared for a disrupted sleep, but had the best 2 nights sleep. Room 106 is magnificent!!!
A grand entrance!!! But I think the cleanliness let it down. A daily sweep and bucket of water wouldnt go a miss and a regular entrance mat clean. Oh! And surely pick out the bottles from plant pots on staircase. Dont know how housekeeping can of missed them for 2 day's. The shower cubicle could of been bigger in room 106. Im average size, but a bigger person would had a squeeze.
Location, architecture and cleanliness.
Breakfast not included. Internal room had no window view.
Handy location next to the station. Free Kit Kats. Nice, modern bathroom. Decent size bed for a single room.
My room was at the back which overlooked the station. I didn't mind too much but if you're a light sleeper you might find it difficult to sleep. It was really hot too!
Location, bathroom, bad comfortable
Noise from the station, windows can't get open, too warm in the room and airconditiinig was out of order.
Staff were helpful with cases food very good clean bathroom and bedroom.
little mix up when grandaughter rang to see if we had arrived had us under Davies which is middle name White surname
The room was palatial, clean and comfortable, with a four-poster bed and a separate dressing room / study. The bathroom was spotless and the shower very good indeed. Staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The location, beside the Central Station, was very convenient for the city centre, and the breakfast was good.
Being beside the station has its downside. Station announcements are audible (although not too loud) and there is noise from vehicles accessing the station car park and the hotel yard. The free 'high speed' internet access is anything but! The free access is to a limited speed wi-fi and it is the slowest of any hotel I've stayed in. Apart from that, I'd have welcomed some better quality coffee.
The location and complimentary items in the mini bar
Stayed at the front of the hotel which was so noisy. Definitely request a room at the back if you are considering staying here. It’s not the cheapest and the rooms are quite basic, warm and the mattress was pretty thin
Comfortable and free items in fridge! Shower very powerful and bed enormous!
Very noisy at night, especially if a wedding is scheduled downstairs but this is the compromise for having a hotel so conveniently located.
