Score from 130 reviews Wonderful
A stylish air-conditioned hotel just 330 yards from Newcastle Train Station, within a 2 minute walk of the central bars and restaurants.
Score from 1689 reviews Very good
In the heart of central Newcastle and across from Newcastle’s Central Train and Bus Station, this beautifully preserved 19th-century building is now a modern hotel.
Score from 793 reviews Very good
The Vermont is Newcastle's only 4-star independent hotel. Next to The Castle, overlooking Newcastle Cathedral and both the Tyne and Millennium Bridges, it has a modern gym, free Wi-Fi and free...
Score from 994 reviews Excellent
Two sets of steps at the entrance door are tricky for elderly guests.
Grand entrance and historic features retained in the hotel. Room allocation fabulous!
location, location, location and room was well appointed
Parking astronomically expensive - £16 ech night, no bedroom window
Location, period nature of property and decor, huge well fitted out room
Little out dates and need of some decorating- secondary glazing in the rooms might be good- we overlooked the station...
Location good comfortable toom
The bed was ancient with springs poking through mattress. Room had no temperature control and was stuffy, was not told I had an additional three flights of stairs to climb with suitcase to garratt room. The staff start working at 7am shouting through corridors and then laying out piles of linens on the landings.
Location great, swimming pool a bonus, staff at desk friendly
Room was the size of a cupboard and far too hot even with radiator off and window wide open, which isn't handy with the train station just outside
Management seem very lazy
Good room sizes
We were very impressed with all the facilities available to use, the complimentary items in the fridge the use of the spa which entertained our daughter also the friendly reception and bar staff. X
I thought it it was a bit pricey without the breakfast and didn't think it would have cost £9.99 to make
The closeness to the train station and town centre
Updating the wiring and wasn't told they would be on the floor where I was staying and started work at 8 , not impressed
My room felt was drab dark and depressing. It actually made me feel anxious and slightly agitated. Shower head dirty and covered me with black bits. I did mention to reception that I had to clean it before continuing my shower.
The reception staff were very nice and friendly. Fridge with water juice and kit Kat is a nice touch.
The hotel is looking a little tired in places - paintwork is often rough and there is some staining on carpets
I often use the Royal Station Hotel because of its promimity to Central Station. The staff are good and the rooms are comfortable.
The water didn't work due to a burst water main. We had to ring up to request mineral water to brush our teeth (non was offered) . We were not able to use the sink or shower. Despite this , we received no compensation. We only found out when I rang reception wondering why the shower didn't work.
Although there were no problems this trip the lack of free parking at the hotel is extremely limited.
Location good for walking to centre and especially for metro.
the hotel was rather dark from the woodwork & furniture.
very helpful staff throughout, & location.
ROOM LOCATION. NO LIFTS
No sleep. Noise from partygoers continued all night. Do not stay here if you want to relax.
The staff dealing with the wedding were excellent. the bar staff quick and efficient. The finger buffet good and the house keeping helpful.
Having booked a superior room which had a good sized bathroom and sleeping area there was no hairdryer in the bathroom and the TV Menu gave no details of programmes. You could hear the plumbing from neighbouring rooms.
Ideal location giving easy access to public transport. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Staff couldn't be nicer. Very central
Wi-fi was a little temperamental at first, receptin was poor but settled down later. Ensure you ask for a room at the back on a higher floor to avoid noise from the street. I was on the front so it was noisy Saturday night it did not really bother me.
A most enjoyable 2 night stay with friends. Booked for it's situation near the railway station for ease of travel as some friends were travelling from a distance but just for the day, We were given a funtion room upstairs as there was a wedding in the restaurant. We had our own waitress who gave us excellent service. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Excellent meals at a fair price. My single room was spacious, whereas often they are like a shoebox. All toiletries supplied and even and robe and slippers. Some hotels now put a plastic squeezy soap bottle on the wall in the bathroom but not here. Would stay again.
Having to leave £30 per person security deposit and then having to wait around in reception the next morning whilst our rooms were checked for damage. I hardly expect many 69 year old ladies trash hotel rooms on a regular basis. Found this very insulting.
Loved the location, loved the size of the room. Mini fridge with complimentary drinks and snacks.
