The whole concept was excellent, from the imposing entrance lobby to our upgraded room. Car parking was secure and the location was within easy walking distance of the city centre and the Westfield(?) shopping mall. All for £27!

The bed was extremely comfortable and the decor was nice. Plenty of parking and is located near the Westfield shopping centre. Very good price. I would suggest that you choose the family rooms as the doubles are quite small. The bathroom smelt strongly of urine and I was quite unhappy about it on the first night however I soon came to realise that it was the shower curtain that smelt and thankfully there was not any urine present. Think they need to keep on top of the cleanliness as the bathroom was not very nice. I would have liked the bedding to have been changed after the first night.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. As I was traveling with my family I booked a family room with a king size bed and sofa bed. The sofa bed was the most awful nights sleep my youngest daughter and I have ever had. You could feel every spring in that sofa. I stayed overnight to go to Alton Towers and after having such an awful nights sleep I can tell you going to Alton Towers is very hard. I was also told that the heating would come on in the morning as it was cold but that did not happen.

Did the job required and had own off-road parking. Noisy Air-Con near bedroom window was troublesome. Pity that should circumstances change, no adjustment/cancellation possible.

We stayed one night and got a very good price for two double rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly, the breakfast was good and there are some very good restaurants on the doorstep. The room was a bit too hot for a comfortable sleep.

We visited The Stuart Hotel in September 2011 on a trip to Alton Towers, hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very clean with everything that you would expect. The room and the hotel had been upgraded to a very good standard. Good location for shops and restaurants, at a very reasonable price. Only criticism was that the air con unit was not working properly. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again

Can't beat the location - just a few blocks from both the train station and Westfield Shopping Center. Nice enough hotel and good speed internet (Wi-Fi strong in lobby/bar, wired in rooms with some Wi-Fi coverage). Hotel food looked good and the bit we had was quite delicious. A lot of restaurants in the surrounding blocks so plenty of eating options. Staff were not the friendliest.

Hotel modern and clean. Room really nice and clean. Bar very relaxing and modern, lots of car parking spaces one of the best hotels i have been in for the price there were some random noises and creaks constantly throughout the night which i can only presume was the heating system, but apart from this cannot fault it....

Very good price. Proximity to the Westfield shopping centre was good. Good cheap breakfast at the Royal Telegraph not far away. Helpful staff on reception day & evening. Free late check-out, free upgrade which gave us a fridge for cold drinks. Car Park facilities although not used on this visit as very close to Derby Midland Railway Station. Central heating and hot water not available in the later evening so if you need a late shower/wash, don't bother. No lift so carrying suitcases up flights of stairs is not helpful. Old and tired furnishings. Small room and bathroom in spite of being upgraded.

The Stuart Hotel was a last minute choice due to a impressive price. I can say however that even though I paid a little amount I didn't feel it meant my bathroom should have/smell of mould, or that I should be kept up until near 3am from the bar music downstairs and the drunken guests stomping about. The breakfast was okay, however the set up was unorganised. Other than the few disappointments my night did go well. :)

Very helpful staff on our early arrival. Good room facilities with everything in working order. Warm room with good decor. When we advised of some defect in the bathroom the staff took note and offered to pass the information on.

I feel the location is brilliant, and the price is great also. Although we would of liked to stay for breakfast it was just a bit too pricey. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, and this is our 5th visit in 2 years!

The deal! Late check out-made my day flexible. As I got myself a good deal I think £29.50 was a reasonal price for the hotel. I wouldn't pay any more!! The room smelt musky all the time, very cramp, red stains on curtains. First hotel I have stayed in pay tv- which is a rip off! Most hotels offer free view tv not channels 1-5. Personally I was expecting a modern room after walking through the very bright and clean reception area-unfortunately the rooms do not reflect this.

Staff were very obliging and helpful, no charge was made for the children which was very much appreciated. The staff set up the sofa bed for the children, moved furnature about for us and reacted promptly when we had a couple of difficulties. Extremely freindly people; thanks. We had to move rooms in the evening as there was a function going on directly underneath us; we could hear everything including the dj (maybe not the best room to have put a family with young children). However we were moved without any bother. Also noticed that in both rooms there are some minor issues such as the radiator in the bathroom of 250 is unsecured, the air con didn't work, some of the lighting in room 200 (our new room) doesn't work. Also we both hit our heads on the wall mounted TV's - which are unadjustable. I still have a lump to remind me!

Good location, good price, standard rooms - a little bit on the small side, but acceptable for what we paid. Small rooms, walls were very thin and could hear everything going on around you, bathrooms were quite old too.

Comfortable bed and bath with shower over. Nicely designed restaurant and bar. Reception was pleasant, efficient and helpful. Extremely convenient for shops, The large shopping mall which also had a cinema was within easy walking distance. Good parking. Bus to Royal Derby Hospital stops right outside. The corridors were extremely hot and so was the bedroom even though the radiators were off. I had to open a window but we were on the ground floor so I was a little uneasy about doing so.
