Friendly helpful staff, good facilities. Clean comfortable room. It was perfect for our one night stay whilst we went to a function nearby.

I booked room only. I thought it was quite expensive for room only, for that price I would have expected breakfast to be included.

The reception staff were excellent and the bar staff. The food in the Fallen Angel and the staff were also excellent. We enjoyed our weekend stay and will visit again.

Executive room was clean but no window view just a velux window with view of the sky.Also whilst sat in the main bar area a male member of staff was sat in a arm chair eating a pot noodle with two slices of bread! not what you expect to see when you first arrive.

"Castle" does not really describe it, but the decore is traditional, maybe Victorian. There was a double and a single bed in the room and the room was a decent size. The bathroom was nice and there was tea, etc in the room.

Service, on site restaurants are excellent. Rooms are clean and spacious enough. Stayed in an executive room, which s quite new, was worth that little more.

The room was a little dark, even with all the lights on.

The staff were friendly and helpful.The room was comfortable. The dining experience in The Fallen Angel was first class. The breakfast in the Royal Toby was plentiful and enjoyable.

I only stayed for one night, I was attending a friends birthday party. I ate in the restaurant for my evening meal. the steak was cooked to perfection and the staff were very friendly. When i was leaving for my evening out and enquired about a taxi the receptionist rang one for me and gave me the number so i was able to return my journey. Nothing was too much trouble! Breakfast was included in my stay and again the food was great with plenty of choice. I'd Definately stay there again.

The hotel is conveniently located and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and all the staff very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay trouble free. The bar is very cosy and welcoming.

Lighting in rooms is very poor and no shaving mirror in the bathroom.. The hot water in the bathrooms is very hot and the mixer tap does not mix the hot and colding water together. I know this does seem like a silly, negative comment but it an issue if young childeren are to use them. No real issues and would recommend to others.

Reception & Fallen Angel service.

Room too hot (even with window open) & small. A four poster bed doesn't make the room a suite !!Well appointed and clean room though. Excellent communication by reception in sorting out late/no confirmation by booking.com. Only found out no booking when tried to reserve a table for dinner. Arrived very late due to traffic but Maitre D at Fallen Angel was excellent - as was food. Extremely clean, all staff efficient and courteous. All traces of 'local' pub (restaurant) atmosphere gone by morning. Would go back - but I would book direct and take a standard double.

Great value for money. You get what you pay for.

Rooms need freshening up a bit.

We stay at the Royal Toby on a regular basis as we have family in the Rochdale area. On this occassion it was time to spend Christmas with the family. We have had a few complaints over the years but on this occassion we have no complaints whatsoever. The Staff were excellent, especially Nina, on Reception. We have met Nina on a number of occassions and she is a credit to the Company. She is very friendly, pleasant and a pleasure to deal with. Our breakfast the following morning was well cooked, hot and nothing was too much trouble for the Restaurant Staff. The only downside was that the fresh fruit and cereals are on the sparse side, as I mentioned in one of my earlier reviews. Once again, we look forward to our next visit to the Royal Toby.

The big open fire. We attended a wedding and the food was lovely.

We were told breakfast was until 10am but when we went down at 9.30 we were told it stopped at 9am! Also the bar closed pretty early at night

As always..... The Fallen Angel

The heating in the room was a plug in convector heater. Hence, the room was freezing when I arrived. Also, there was no remote for the TV and I had to go to reception to sort out.

The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The bar was comfortable and the roaring fire was very welcome and homely. The breakfast choices were comprensive. The Italian restaurant, Fallen Angels, which is within the grounds of the hotel was excellent and surprisingly busy for the 2 mid week evenings we used it. Parking was good, we used the over flow car park on one evening. No problem with that though. We oudl stay again. Although Rochdale is not probably a place we would go for any other reason that visiting friends, it is only a short drive to Manchester and could be used as an alternative to staying in Manchester. We visited Traffor Centre and it was only about 25 minutes drive away.

Why do the chambers maids insist on changing towels even when they are not used! This is not the first hotel to do this. Also, the light was a little poor in the rooms. However, If those are the only complaints then it must have been a good stay.
