The bed was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The view was not very nice as there was a pylon straight facing the hotel but this did not spoil our stay. There was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom which seemed to be coming from the air filter but we did not complain as we did not want the hassle of being moved to a new room.

Efficient check-in / check-out, and spotless room I was asked if I wanted a newspaper in the morning but not told it would be charged. Also tv did not have teletext/subtitles, although remote control indicated that it should have been operating ( I am hard of hearing and could cause offence to other guests if high volume used ).

I liked the location and the comfort of the hotel, the food was excellent and the fallen Angels was superb However, I was not too impressed with the big lump of chewing gum stuck on the headboard and the false eyelash o the toilet seat when I lifted the lid. The chewing gum was swiftly dealt with and I didn't mention the eyelash. We ended up staying an extra night as it was a wedding we attended and found that it was not made well known that the latest for breakfast was 9am

It's reasonably-priced. Having a proper pub next door was also a bonus. Good secure parking. Everything was fine until the morning of check-out. We packed our bags and went downstairs to an indifferent breakfast and when we returned, our door had been unlocked and the member of staff who'd done it was nowhere to be seen. Our luggage and valuables were wide open to potential thieves, which happily did not happen. In addition, after our morning meal, it seems a natural thing to go to the toilet and wash your hands before departure. Unfortunately the member of staff who left our room open, had also removed all the towels. Odd.

The entire staff were very a commodating to my needs, including making train reservations, providing a late breakfast. Food not available for a late lunch. Location is difficult if you do not have a car.

It was quiet, comfortable, clean and the location gave us the perfect base for our visit to Rochdale. Staff were excellent and the food was up to a good standard. Lighting in the room could be better - room was really dull even during daylight hours.

As a well travelled individual I would like to stress the breakfast was simply the worst breakfast I have ever experienced. THe bacon was blue, eggs and mushrooms soggy. The only items that were nearly edible were the beans and toast; albeit both were tepid at best.
