Score from 295 reviews Good
Situated in Hastings town center, less than a mile from Hastings Castle, Alexanders is a family-run hotel overlooking the Sussex Coast. The historic Old Town is just a short stroll along the seafront....
Score from 179 reviews Very good
Ideally situated across from Marina Gardens, Rutland Guest House is on the A259 coastal road, a short walk from the beach and a 5 minute drive from central Hastings.

Room was very spacious, and was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful Good Location. Value for money
Would of been nice to have a couple of bottles of water in the room.
Nice comfy rooms .
A bit smell in the rooms / corridors
The building, the air of victoriana and the helpful staff
The modern decor
Ambience of the building and decor
Double bed not queensize
Great sea view. Good sized room. Staff very pleasant and efficient. Nice building. Warm rooms. Clean. Beautiful staircase and lounge was nicely decorated.
TV wasn't very good. Chairs in the lounge could be more comfortable. Breakfast buffet ran out of eggs and bread and had to ask and wait a while for them to be topped up.
Staff amenable and helpful Food acceptable rather than impressive but service excellent Preferred buffet-style breakfast first morning (not available second!) Reasonable room rate Spacious room (but no sea view)
Creaky floors Some tired looking carpets and walls Lift available but don't be in a hurry! Beds not overly comfortable - new mattresses required?
The location and sea view are superb. We were upgraded to a suite which was spacious and wonderfully comfortable. I loved this place and was so glad i chose it over other properties. I didnt want to leave ! The free parking was a bonus and the staff friendly snd helpful. Just sorry the breakfast finished so early (9.30) and i never made it in time
Nothing to dislike
Pleasantly surprised how nice the town was especially the old part of town. Lovely fish restaurant called Webbes nearby. Hotel was very adequate for a short stay. Staff very helpful.
It was all hunky dorey. Being at the seaside in Autumn/Winter can be lovely for a short stay.
Old world splender
The decor and furnishings are tired and the up grade to a deluxe room was a waste as it needed dusting and the toilet didn't work properly.
Staff were very helpful
The room didnt appear to have been hoovered as there were large clumps of black hair over the carpet
Location to Seafront Spacious
No Parking. (very limited) Shower in Bathroom was almost impossible to set, spent 15 mins trying to adjust the temperature in the end gave up and had a bath, which also was a joke as running water very slow, spent over 30 mins trying to get cleaned up. Television Size was a Joke, would have expected at least a 30" TV and worse still no TV in Bedroom Staff didn't look very happy, when booked in Receptionist hardly welcoming, no smiles, no humour, complaining about having a Hard Day (if you don't like the job, find another) !!!
Good location ,nice bar for drinks and food ,lovely big room
Shower was a bit old fashioned worked by the taps and was hard to control, probably could do with a refurb.
My husband and I fancied a couple of nights away as we had booked 2 shows at the White Rock theatre on consecutive nights. So we thought we would spoil ourselves and book into The Great Western Victoria Hotel. On arrival we were not disappointed as the staff were welcoming warm and friendly at reception and explained the things that we needed to know. We were checked in immediately. On arrival to our room what a suprize to see such a large room with sea view, as we had booked this stay a few weeks earlier with booking.com as a special offer. What value for money and another bonus was that we could walk to the theatre taking us around 15 minutes we did a trial walk in the afternoon. The room at night was so peaceful so we had no trouble sleeping. The breakfast room was laid out beautifully and we were welcomed by the waiter and shown to a table. The cooked breakfast was beautiful and worth the £9.95 the 2 waiters were very attentive and removed used plates and dishes immediately. The second day we decided on the continental breakfast as we were not so hungry and this breakfast was £4.95 and a good choice. My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much that we will definitely be booking to stay again in 2015 . Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a great experience and a very merry Christmas to you all. We could have gone home from the theatre each evening as we only live 17 miles away but we are so glad that we stayed at this lovely hotel.
We had no complaints or dislikes during our stay.
I liked the efficiency and value. A good place for a short break or business trip
My bed was a bit on the firm side and the bathroom was a bit dated, but otherwise it was great.
Nice big room, comfy beds, good location
Breakfast a bit chaotic
I liked everything
the tv could be updated
Large spacious room - for a family but only two of us. Fabulous 'old features'
Parking was difficult and we were in LOW season - had to move the car several times
Everthing the food was really good value for money and presented well really great night we will back back again
It is just in front of the sea. Fantastic entrance. A lot of history in the place. Good parking just outside the entrance. Nice walk into city centre. Fantastic morning seeing the sun rise.
We didn't have any view of the sea, but only a back-street. In the bathroom it had been problems with renovation (several parts had been changed into something that was wrong size - so rather much the place were falling apart). A little difficult to find with the GPS.
The most amazing room, a modern hotel with the most beautiful old traditional looks Simple grand
Excellent choice for breakfast and we enjoyed dinner in the restaurant one evening. The restaurant staff were helpful and obliging. One particular member of stall was very helpful to a child who came into breakfast alone.
It was disappointing to have two guests on an adjacent table, working on their lap tops and mobile phones, while we were trying to have a relaxing evening meal.
Tv could not see from bed shower head keep falling down soap dish in bath loose
Staff prompt attention to requests
Common areas not kept warm
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Large bedroom overlooking the sea. Staff very helpful. Excellent food.
