Overlooking Tunbridge Wells Common, The Royal Wells Hotel is a traditional, family-run hotel within walking distance of the center of town. It offers 2 restaurants, 3 bars and free parking. Features include tea and coffee making facilities and private bathrooms. Guests can also use Wi-Fi free of charge in the entire building. The Conservatory Restaurant, with its intimate lounge bar, uses fresh, local produce. Guests may also want to try out the newly refurbished Chalybeate Restaurant. One of the main reasons for choosing the Royal Wells Hotel, was that it was dog friendly. The staff were very friendly and welcoming to us and our spaniel. He could sleep in our room at no extra charge, and could accompany us to the bar where we were provided with a choice of meals from the restaurant menu. We had a n excellent supper, and enjoyed the ambiance of the victorian bar, deep comfy sofas, and interesting lighting. We liked our quirky room, with four poster bed, and at breakfast the staff set up a table specially outside the restaurant area so our dog could be with us. We had a good full English breakfast and the cofee was good too. Our only critisisms would be that the curtains in our room were a couple of inches short, thus letting light in in the morning. The decoration of the bedroom was a little tired, but this was outweighed by the interesting furniture and the lovely big claw footed victorian style bath, and plenty of hot water.

I only paid £60 but I would say that their normal rate of £95 is about right. The breakfast was lovely and the resturant and bar were both very good and well patronized by local people.

I treated myself to a 2 night stay to mark my 75th Birthday - leaving the family at home. I have mobility problems and all the staff were completely considerate to my needs. The room was very well appointed - a 6ft bed, hd tv and quality drapes, and comfortable - the shower was a real luxury in the adjoining private bathroom. A good choice of modern cuisine was available as either 2 or 3 courses for lunch and dinner, bottles of chilled water were freely available at all meals. Breakfast was included and a wide range of options for cooked or health conscious patrons. Avery happy customer thanks to all staff. Noise from a fanned flue or similar heard in my rear facing room which was a bit insidious. There is a high step (maybe 9 in.) between the floor levels near the public lift on ground floor - same coloured marble tiles on both levels, and no warning strip or notice, which led to a painfull near disaster (if I had fallen ,which I sometimes do, it might have been much more serious!) when mis-stepping. Staff were most concerned and no doubt would agree this is a hazard to most age groups.

I had been looking after my grandson nearby and wanted a few days on my own, looking at gardens in the vicinity.Unfortunately the weather was bad and so I had to change my plans. The staff were very helpful and I was able to get a map of Tunbridge Wells and spent a good day shopping and looking at the museum and art gallery. The room was spacious, comfortable and relaxing.I spent 2 evenings of me time, reading and on my computer(the hotel has free wi-fi).It is an old hotel but well decorated.I loved the modern decoration of the dining room.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel's photo gallery did not do the hotel it's full justice, we thought it looked better in real life. Our triple room was nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The cooked breakfast was delicious and the sandwiches we bought from the bar were amazing value and very tasty. Would definitely stay again. Nothing to say really. £115 for a triple room was quite allot but compared with the rest of Tunbridge Wells it was cheap and the only place to offer a triple.

The room was very comfortable and well appointed. Glasses instead of plastic, china for tea. Breakfast was delicious and the service was prompt and friendly. Reception was also friendly and helpful. Bar area was inviting and comfortable. Parking is a slight challenge but not impossible. The front room is shabby-chic but don't let that stop you. Everything else is very nice.
