Situated in the centre of Edinburgh, the Motel One Edinburgh-Royal is 5 minutes’ walk away from the train station, and only half a mile from the Castle. Guests can reach the historical St.

The atmosphere, the food, the staff were amazing
Bedroom far too hot
A bit like staying in an old club - which is what you are doing! We were visiting relatives who live just round the corner in Northumberland Street - so perfect for that.
Our second visit to Royal Scott Club..last being 3 years ago. A lovely Quiet area off the main streets of Edinburgh Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent so too was our room although it said basement room 14 it was actually above ground level to the rear. Would recommend Royal Scott.
Nothing to dislike about the hotel. But realised how unfit we had got since our last visit those Steep hills.. Around Edinburgh
Good value and location, fair price.
Minor issue - the shower flow is poor
Yummy breakfasts and comfy bed :)
That we had to renter the wifi password over and over again :(
everything bar one little thing
the heating was turned off too early in the morning.
Fantastic location friendly staff
room was quite cold as heating was set very low
Hotel was in lovely location. It was convenient to city centre with good sized comfortable room. Breakfast superb. Staff ver friendly and helpful
Wifi very useful, but would be better if did not have to log in every time
Lovely bed & breakfast
Bed. Breakfast. Thickness of the curtains. Location. Shower.
Wifi only good for one person/device.
Breakfast very good and friendly staff serving in the morning.
Very friendly hotel extremely thoughtful staff, beautiful panelling and carving in the dining room would definitely come back perfect for little boy and his grandma
Shame the dining room didn't open on Sunday night but it didn't spoil our trip as edinburgh has lots of fabulous restaurants
This hotel is an excellent hotel and if you can find faults with it then you would find faults at Buckingham palace. All is fab and breakfast exceptional and fresh.
The atmosphere and old world charm of the place and the breakfast was excellent.
The breakfasts were very good, the beds were comfortable and the rooms and showers were quite nice. The location is tough to beat. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful.
The wifi was absolutely atrocious. Saying they offer it is almost an outright lie. No early check-in of any kind, no matter what transatlantic flight you've crawled off of. The place was extremely stuffy and rigid. It's not really a complaint, as they're up front about it, but worth bearing in mind that this is an old private military / veteran members club. It's still active as such and their rules / staff reflect it. They were all helpful, polite and courteous but rules were most definitely rules even ones that defy common sense and reason.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Despite it being centrally situated in Edinburgh it was really very quiet.
From the minute we walked through the door to the minute we walked out we loved every moment. The staff were friendly, the room was beautiful and the beds were so comfortable. So easy to get to the city centre, would certainly visit again.
I have nothing negative to say at all
Library Staff attitude Food was excellent Room size good Reasonable price
In the middle of a busy, bustling and vibrant City, the calm and peaceful comfort of the Royal Scots Club was a perfect oasis. Our King Room had beautiful views across the Firth of Forth, super comfy, superking bed and spotless bathroom with powerful shower. Breakfasts were very good quality with efficient but unobtrusive table service and Reception staff were unfailingly polite. The Royal Scots Club does tradition done very well indeed.
Myself and my husband were booked for 3 nights , after researching the hotel was really looking forward to our stay.we arrived Fri evening tired and were told our room was cancelled I don't believe this as I received confirmation a few days earlier, they ran us out of the place so fast said they booked us into another property and a taxi was coming and I had to pay up front for the other hotel, which I had not even seen. After settling in to other hotel I was so happy that we had nothing to do with the Royal Scots Club.
Fabulous breakfasts in a beautiful building; great location - walkable to all City centre areas.
lovely atmosphere and perfect location
Room got cold. Heating only on for short while in evening
Amazing old army club, historic and fascinating but with top notch rooms and fantastic staff. It has lovely lounge bar area for guests which was great as we had visited for a family wedding. Breakfast is amazing and the quality is great. I loved this hotel!
